Recipe: Sweetheart Parfait

Sweetheart parfaitA parfait is an old-fashioned layered dessert that looks pretty, and is fun to eat.

With Valentine's Day around the corner, we thought you would enjoy a nice sweet treat to serve for dessert to your special loved ones.

If you don't have the exact ingredients on-hand, you can always substitute you and your family's favorites!

You can even get the kids involved and create a fun and delicious assembly line.

Dig into this scrumptious concoction and feel the love!

Sweetheart Parfait

Prep time: 10 minutes | Total time: 10 minutes | Yield: 2 servings


• 1 cup plain or vanilla yogurt
• 1 1/2 cups fresh strawberries
• Whipped cream and sprinkles (optional)
• Fresh mint garnish (optional)


Puree 1 cup of the strawberries in a blender. Slice the remainder and set aside for garnish.

In parfait glasses, short stemmed wine glasses,
or tall glasses, layering the ingredients in the following order:

2 to 3 tablespoon yogurt
1 teaspoon chocolate syrup
2 to 3 tablespoons yogurt
3 tablespoons strawberries

Repeat until the glasses are full, ending with a yogurt layer. Chill. Just before serving, top with whipped cream and sprinkles. Grab your spoons and dig in! Happy Valentine's Day!

Parfaits are quick and easy to make, light and versatile -- serve as a complete breakfast, a quick snack or an attractive dessert.

No strawberries on hand? You can use bananas, blueberries, peaches or mangos.
