With Valentine's Day almost here, we've been searching for festive cookies that indulge your sweet tooth without breaking your health bank.
These tasty, golden tidbits look like Valentine's Day and taste like dark chocolate.
Plus they treat your love with more than yumminess. Each low-calorie cookie contains heart-friendly ingredients.
Now that's a cookie you can sink your teeth into!
Prep time: 10 minutes | Total time: 25 minutes | Yield: 30 cookies
• 1/4 cup butter, softened
• 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
• 3 to 4 tablespoons honey
• 2 egg whites
• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
• 1 cup whole wheat pastry flour
• 1/4 cup wheat germ
• 1 teaspoon baking soda
• 1/2 to 1 cup Dark Chocolate Candies
Preheat the oven to 350°.
In a bowl, mix together the flour, wheat germ, baking soda and salt together. Set aside.
In your mixer, beat the butter, peanut butter and honey on medium speed until creamy. Beat in the egg whites and vanilla until fluffy. Slowly add the dry ingredients, beating until well blended. Stir in the chocolate candies.
Roll about 1 tablespoon of batter into a ball and flatten in your palm. Place onto a cookie sheet. Bake for 10 minutes, or until lightly browned. Cool for three minutes and transfer the cookies to a cooking rack.
