Cool Lavender Foot Bath, Massage, and Compress
Provided by Jennifer Davidson Dowd, CYT (Certified Yoga Teacher) & Certified Aroma Therapist
Lavender is not only good for soothing headaches. These treatments will have your feet melting in your hands...or someone else's. "If you are in your 3rd trimester," says Davidson, "have your partner or friend do the massage since you probably can't reach your feet!"
Cool Lavender Foot Bath:
Draw a foot bath of cool water adding 5-6 drops of lavender oil. Soak feet for 10 minutes.
Lavender Oil Massage:
Add 8-10 drops of lavender oil to 8 oz. of almond or grape seed oil. You can also add a few drops of lavender oil to your favorite body lotion. Massage feet, ankles, and calves.
Cool Lavender Compresses:
Wet a cotton handkerchief or wash cloth with cool water so that it is damp and add 2-3 drops of lavender oil. Apply to feet, ankles and calves.
Tip: Keep a lavender compress in a Ziploc bag with ice cubes in your purse ready to use anytime throughout the hot summer.
