Yesterday was Heaths 5 months well baby visit.
He was 16lbs 3oz and 27 inches long. They measured him 3 times to make sure 27 inches was right. Head was 43cm.
He got 1 shot and we talked about his up coming sleep study. She listened to him and even with the O2 said he was still doing newborn breathing and he should have outgrown that by now. He has been given a neutralizer to use ever 4 hours to see if that helps because as of our last ENT visit he was not a candidate for surgery (his tongue is not blocking his airway as much as we originally thought after doing a scope). Depending on what the sleep study says we may be looking at more test possible to check his lungs/hart for anything that so far may have been missed causing him to work so hard to breath. He is working so hard that he is not gaining wight like he was and not hitting milestones like my other 2 and babies his age.
I asked if she thought he had CP because of how blue he was at birth and all my bleeding (thinking placenta came unattached before he was born it came out right after him in the same contraction). But the pedi did not think so she thinks his energy is so focused on breathing that he is not even trying to learn to move around, but when he dose move it seems like he wants to and is in control of what he is doing, he is just delayed.
Last night he had his 3rd sleep study. It went from 7pm-5am this morning. I won't get results until Wed. But just from watching it I know that they tried him on room air and by 2am put the o2 back on him because he would not stay asleep and was breathing heavy without it. They did not tell me how much they turned it on to or even if he had any events just that they did put him on it. While he was off it he was up every 45 min and needed me to comfort him to get him to go back to sleep, after having it on he slept the rest of the study without waking until it was 4am and he needed his normal feeding. So even without real results I am sure we won't be getting away from the oxygen tanks anytime soon.
Well I don't know if anyone has had a sleep study done but they stick electrodes all over and now after 2 baths he is still supper sticky.
I miss my older two and the house is silent as Aunt Jenn kept them and the dog for us last night.
