In a heartbreaking turn of events, a woman in southern England died just over a week after giving birth to triplets. Her husband said she was "on top of the world" in her last days.
According to the Hampshire Chronicle, Isabel Mason, 34, of Winchester, died at the Royal Hampshire County Hospital on March 10th. Her triplets were born there on March 2nd.
Isabel's huband and the triplets' father, Paul Mason said he and his German-born wife had been looking forward to introducing their children to the things they enjoy, like country walks, camping and "watching the world go by."
Mr. Mason said, "Isabel had delivered healthy triplets -- Mattias, Lukas and Sarah -- and in the precious week in between had been on top of the world. We were both overjoyed to be having an instant family, the triplets were our first and most probably our last children."
An inquest was opened to investigate the unusual death as all was well until Isabel suddenly collapsed. The probable cause has been given as "hemopericardium", which is when blood leaks into the sac surrounding the heart from a cut in an artery.
The family has been overwhelmed by the show of love and support throughout the world. Our sympathies to the family.
