Mom Drives Off with Six-Month-Old on Top of Her Car

Baby in Car seatA mother in Phoenix, Arizona will not be nominated for "Mother of the Year" anytime soon. 19-year-old Catalina Clouser made headlines Saturday after she drove off with her six-month-old son on the roof of the car. Thankfully, he was in his car seat which saved his life.

Clouser started driving with the baby in his car seat on the roof. Then, horrifyingly, the seat fell off into an intersection. According to Reuters, she didn't realize her baby was missing until she got home. How could she not have noticed?

By what seems only a miracle, the baby was unhurt. Clouser was arrested on child abuse and aggravated assault charges.

According to police reports, she was first caught smoking marijuana with her boyfriend, who was arrested on suspicion of DUI. Upset by this, she then went to a friend's house, where she smoked more marijuana, before leaving with the baby on the roof of her car.

Phoenix police found the child after receiving calls about a car seat abandoned in the middle of the road. Leilani Gerlach, a homeowner who lives across from the intersection, notified police after she and another neighbor saw the baby in the car seat on the street.

"We were both rolling our eyes in astonishment that someone could forget their baby," Gerlach said. "The car seat was turned to the side so anyone passing by wouldn’t be able to tell there was an actual baby inside. Thank god they stopped."

The baby is now in the custody of Arizona Child Protective Services.

That is so scary. I'm so glad that baby is okay, but seriously how do you not know until you get home? So sad.

All I can say is, OMG!! How could a mom, even one who smoked dope not realize their baby was on top of the car....OMG!
