On Saturday, July 28th, Nur Suryani Mohd Taibi who's 8 months pregnant competed in the London Olympic games. Nur Suryani was a shooter who placed 34 out of 56 in the women's 10-meter air rifle competition, so she did not win a medal.
However the fact that she didn't win a medal did not make the news; the fact that she was 8 months pregnant certainly got the internet buzzing by Sunday morning!
Nur Suryani is from Malaysia and found out she was pregnant just days after being told she would compete in the 2012 Olympic Games.
She is the third pregnant woman to compete in the Olympic games, but she is the only one to compete just weeks before her due date.
The expectant Nur Survani, 29, who is expecting a girl, reported that the baby kicked three or four times during the 75 minute qualifying round. It would seem that the baby was encouraging her mom!
Nur Suyani told the news outlets in London, "It didn't put me off. I told her, 'Behave yourself, be a good girl, be calm, and don't move so much,'"
When asked if her unborn baby listened she responded, "Yep, she always listens to me."
What do you think? Although competing is an extraordinary privilege, would you have competed so close to your due date? Let us know!
