Sandy's Surprise -- Babymoon!

Read All of Sandy's Surprise -- A Pregnancy Journal

For most of this past week, Tim and I were on our babymoon. It was sort of a last big trip before the baby comes - a celebration of our time together as a couple before we transition into being a family. It was also our fifth anniversary! Where has the time gone?? Feels like just yesterday we were two goofy kids in high school. Now we're two goofy adults with a kid on the way.

We went to Utah, which is about a 4 hour drive for us, so it wasn't too bad for me. Of course we stopped every hour so I could stretch and have a potty break! The trip started out looking bad because we were supposed to stay at TLF (which is an inn on the Air Force Base) at Hill AFB.

Well, when we went to check in, it turns out they had no record of our reservation! They couldn't even locate our confirmation number on their computer. It was really strange. But Tim had been saying that we should've gotten a better place to stay for our fifth anniversary anyway, so it worked out well! We ended up staying at the Hampton Inn in the city, and our suite had a jacuzzi in it!! Aaaah, heaven!

We ended up doing mostly indoor stuff because the heat was so bad this time of year. We even visited an aquarium and bought Baby Boy a cute stuffed animal -- a shark puppet (Tim named it Finley, which I think is apt)!

On our anniversary we had a bit of a snafu. We couldn't find our car and ended up walking 45 minutes in circles around dowtown SLC! It was awful! I was so exhausted and in so much pain, it was all I could do not to break down and cry. And poor Tim blamed himself for not being able to figure out where we were. But after I rested and recuperated a bit, I was ready to go again.

For our anniversary dinner we went to a gorgeous restaurant called The Garden Restaurant. It was located in a huge, beautiful building in downtown SLC. The restaurant was on the 10th floor of the building, and had a retractable roof. We were seated by a window, and the food was delicious!

We also spent some time in the hotel pool (the water was dubious though, so we didn't spend too much time in there) and that was heavenly. I was telling Tim that I would LOVE to put in an in-ground pool at our next house!

On Friday we went to Antelope Island and got to see the Great Salt Lake. It was absolutely gorgeous (and blisteringly hot!) and we got to see antelope, bison and a jack rabbit. I had a lot of fun because I got the "carriage tour." I stayed in the car while Tim drove around, and then he would occasionally get out and take pictures. It was fun because I got to do nothing and just enjoy the pretty views!

All in all, we had an awesome time. I will always treasure this time we got to spend together, although I am looking forward to the next leg of our journey through life! Okay now without further ado, here is me at 27 weeks!
