I am in my fifth week of a major surprise pregnancy. We were done with babies. My wonderful son just turned ten, I had just turned 43. We'd spend the last nine years not using birth control, figuring if it happens, then it happens.
Well, it finally happened.
I was really resentful the first week after the line appeared. My husband and I were finally getting things under control with our son (he has ADHD and Asperger's, and the last few years have been very difficult), we were looking forward to taking nice trips with our son now that he was older and could appreciate Europe, and we'd finally be alone in about 9 years.
Alas, it wasn't going to happen like that. I feel much better about the new baby, and although it is still early (two previous miscarriages before my son), I'm just not going to worry about it. Obviously this was meant to be on some cosmic level. Heck, we hadn't even had sex in like six months, then BAM!
Over 40 and pregnant. Never thought it would happen. Sigh.
