Tomorrow (well, actually, today!) I have my GD test. Fun stuff, eh? Thankfully it's just the one hour so I didn't have to fast. I did cut out all sugar and almost all carbs for a day, though. My midwife said as long as I ate a high protein diet and restricted sugar I wouldn't trigger a false positive. I really hope I pass because the GD diet does NOT sound like fun to me! I really love my carbs!
I got a call from the base hospital that reaffirmed to me that I made the right choice by quitting them when I did! The nurse calls and says, "I see that you're almost 30 weeks and I was wondering if you wanted to make an OB appointment to be seen."
This made me laugh because it's been 6 WEEKS since I've seen them, I haven't had my GD test ordered (which they would've had to do at my 24 week appointment), and they never scheduled me to be seen twice a week since I entered the third trimester. And it's just NOW occurring to them to call me? Amazing.
So I just paused for a second and said, "I haven't seen you guys in 6 weeks. I go off-base for my care now." And the woman sounds SO relieved (I'll bet she thought she was going to get her *** chewed for not being on top of her charts!) and says, "Oh! Okay! Great! I'll just update your chart, then!"
Yeah, you do that.
It's amazing to me how disorganized they are. When I went to my follow-up appointment at 18 weeks after my fall, the doctor who was *looking in my chart* asks, "Why are you here? Looks like we just saw you last week."
Umm, aren't you supposed to know that from reading your own notes?
She was the same one who saw me at my "fall" appointment) So I had to tell her this was a follow-up from my fall. Apparently no one had put that in my chart. Made me feel really looked after! I am just SO glad I am done with that place! The care is awful.
I have been doing well, I'm just having a really hard time sleeping. It's weird because I'll be drowsy all day and even go to bed around 10 or 11. But come 3 or 4 AM and I'm wide awake. I guess it's just preparation for having a newborn around!
I spoke with Tim's parents last weekend, and am relieved to say they are sounding a LOT more excited about the baby than they were! They said they have dibs on the car seat, and once we figure out which one we want we should just tell them. So that's one big purchase we have taken care of!
They also don't want to wait till Christmas to see Baby Boy (my father-in-law probably can't get Christmas time off anyway) so we've decided to ask them to fly out around 3 weeks after the birth. We're going to take the first three weeks just bonding as a family and getting used to having a baby in the house. I think we're going to do really well!
