Wow Sandy ! You are almost there!!!! I have goose bumps all over just thinking how close you are to having your BABY!!!!!
When I was reading the conversation you posted, I thought this was your dream you are writing about, so I had to re-read it!
You and your husband deserve it to have your baby home soon, just keep us posted!
Aww, thanks Asha!! :D You are so sweet! I hope our family looks half as beautiful as yours!! :D
Oh I'm SO GLAD that your IL's are being supportive now, that must have meant a lot to you!! ((hugs))
The options you have to choose from, gosh Sandy that is hard!! Both options have such important details in them - I think for me I would want him to come with me the 1st month, that first meeting is just so so neat - but I'd also want him there for the court dates too, ack lol
Did I understand right, that your IL's are still in India? If so I think I would choose option A and then have your MIL or FIL or even both? At the court hearings with you.
I don't know... when I was reading it I was totaly going to choose option A. It's like being there for the birth. But I was reading it, of course option B seems more important.
There is a thought. He comes with you the first month and you have that emotionally wonderful expierience together, then after two months of already knowing your baby bonding with her and all that , the flight back shouldn't be too hard. You will know what to do after two months, believe me!
Also the courts... can you stay in touch with him via phone and e-mails? That way you could still communicate with him and bump ideas off of him. It's not the same but that is what I would do in your situation.
BTW I flew to Poland once with my first son and then another time with my two sons and as long as you bring toys, snacks and distractions things go OK.
Do you have any idea how old Adriana is going to be when you meet her?
Thanks for your thoughts, ladies! :D Julia, no, my IL's are on the east coast of the US. So when I fly back from India, I was going to stop in SC where they live and then we were all 4 (IL's, Adriana and me) going to fly back to ID where DH and I live. :D Confusing, I know!!
Asha, Adriana will be around 8 months when I first go meet her. :D It's heartening to hear you say that flying for so long can be done! Do you think that even at that age she will be okay on such a long flight (38 hours total flying time)? I am so nervous about this!! But like you said, for DH to be there the first half would be like him being there for her birth. It's such an emotional experience! I don't know if I would want him to just have pictures while I get to hold, smell and see our baby.... gosh, it's just so hard!!
That IS a long trip! I thought it would be 15 to 20 hours total but 38 hours!!!! I think you would need him there if it's going to be that long. Additionally when you get to the U.S. you will get to introduce Adriana to her grandparents together. ( If that was the plan)
Like you said HE doesn't mind waiting , it won't hurt his feelings that you are there with her...
You really will need him on the trip home...
8 month old is a good age to travel, they can be easily entertained . You will know what makes her happy after two months so you can get prepared.
I agree, 8 months is a good time to take a flight that long. When we moved from Ireland to the states it was aroudn 15 hours, our oldest was 6 months at the time and he slept almost the entire time, except for when we were at the airport during our lay overs.
Thanks, ladies! :D DH and I had a talk last night, and I guess he really does have a preference... he said he wanted to be there to see our daughter for the first time together. He said he wants to share that incredible experience with me, and laugh and cry together. How can I say no to that?? :D So I guess it's decided... he'll be going for the first three weeks! I figure it will be hard with a baby, but it won't be impossible. Plus, I only have to make it on one long flight from India to America, and then I'll have my IL's to help me the rest of the way home (around 10 hours counting all the layovers)!
I'm so glad you guys were able to decide!! It sounds like things are going to work out really well for you :)
