Gah, I brought home yet another bug from preschool!! I have been and for about 4 days now. DH is so sweet, last night I was running a high fever and just felt like crap. So he ran me a bath, poured in lots of my bubble bath and got me some juice and a book to read while I sat in there. He is such an absolute sweetheart. I am such a lucky girl!!
Wow, I must've been in a smilie-using mood tonight!
I got an email from a family who visited the orphanage that our daughter is most likely going to come from. They said they were very impressed. Apparently the orphanage is a two-story building, with a large frontyard and two baby rooms. There are about 40 children, with one caretaker for every 4 children. And a 1:4 ratio is really not too bad! It was very neat and well-kept, and they said all the babies looked very healthy and happy. I am SO relieved to hear this!
Notice anything new about my writing style? Do I seem.... more, I don't know, mommy-like? No? That's funny, because.....
WE HAVE A BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That's right, I got an email from Jenny today! The baby's clearance came through, and the Indian orphanage will put together a formal referral next week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I AM SO EXCITED AND HAPPY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am laughing and crying and I just don't know what to do with myself!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! These next couple of weeks till we get her stuff are just going to be torture!!!!!!!!! Thank you guys soooooo much for being my support through this! Oh, and we got some more info about her which of course I can't post on here like her first name. Suffice it to say, it's BEAUTIFUL and will be her middle name! OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
DH and I had a great Addie celebration tonight! We went out to dinner, talked each other's ears off, then came back, played some games, drank some wine and danced together in candlelight. We talked a lot about how much our lives are going to be different, and what Addie would be doing if she was here with us now, and what she probably looks like. It was amazing. I am so blessed. I fall more and more in love with my husband every passing day.
DH and I bought a few things for Addie last night, now that we know her size! We got a really cute Easter dress (picture below), a summery little dress for everyday wear and a footed sleeper for nighttime. I am so excited to see her in all these cute clothes! Now we can really start shopping for clothes in earnest - we don't have nearly enough. I think we'll take enough for a couple of weeks and then buy the rest there. Clothes there are REALLY cheap, so it'll save on suitcase space too. Anyway, without further ado, here's her Easter dress!:
For those who asked, the dress is from WalMart. It's their new "George" line - if you have a chance, you should check it out! It's a little more expensive than their usual $5 things, but the quality is better too. This dress was $15, and it comes with a satiny diaper cover. Really adorable!
Okay, so I talked to Jenny today! She said that the baby's child study should be put together really, really soon. She said the orphanage usually includes a passport size photograph of the baby, and sometimes a 3x5. So she said she's going to have her India contact take some more pictures for us. She also said that my relatives can go to the orphanage and take pictures and even video for us! She said the orphanage doesn't like extended family visiting all the time, but once in a while would be okay. That's fine anyway because we'll be going to India about a month after we accept the referral! Usually we have to wait on a clearance called the NOC to take the baby out of the orphanage, but Jenny said they have a great relationship with the orphanage and we can take our baby out as soon as we get to India. I was thinking if the NOC hadn't come through yet, we'd have to settle for visiting her, but apparently she can come live with us right away! That's the whole reason I said we should wait 6 weeks after referral to fly there - to give the NOC a chance to come through - but apparently it doesn't matter! I think we'll wait 3-4 weeks instead of 6, just so we can get things in order. Yayyyy!!!! I can't wait to be with my baby girl!! Oh, and Jenny doesn't have the details on the baby's birthdate, but she said she's going to speak with Minal tonight and will update us tomorrow with more information on the child study and the birthdate. Yay!!
No birthdate yet, Jenny (who, btw, is doing sooo much better at keeping us informed after DH's phone call!) said Minal will talk to the orphanage tomorrow and have an update on Friday regarding the birthdate and child study. I hope she gets some good news! I cannot wait to see my beautiful baby girl!
DH and I went to Toys 'R' Us tonight and bought the baby some more clothes. Slowly but surely we'll amass enough for 2 weeks! We got two really cute outfits - one is a halter top with shorts which I picked out, and the other is a yellow eyelet button-down shirt with cute little bell bottom pants that DH picked out. We also got her a hat to protect that beautiful head from the Indian summer. Oh, and two packs of onesies. It's so much fun shopping for her! We wanted to get so much more, but had to consciously pace ourselves. I almost got her Lola the Hippo from Hallmark (a cute little talking hippo that's their promotional thing for V-Day), but then decided against it. We'll have plenty of time for that before we go! I'm thinking we might each do a Build-A-Bear for her and record our voices on them. That might be a cute keepsake.
We have a birthdate!!!!!!!!!!!! My little girl was born on July 29, 2006! Exactly 10 days after DH's and my anniversary and exactly 2 months before my birthday. I told DH she was our anniversary present last year and we didn't even know it at the time! I am soooo happy to have this information because now I can start working on the referral announcements, and also, because it's a very concrete piece of information about our little cutie. Check out my new ticker - I'm a mommy!!
So DH and I went on a quest to find inexpensive bloomers for Addie. I was eyeing up some bloomers that came with cute little outfits, and told DH how much they were. He gawked at me, and said that he could find bloomers for much cheaper. So we made a deal, and I said if he could find them cheaper, I'd buy those. Everywhere we went, they were just as expensive as online. So finally, when we got home, I found some on Ebay! They're barely used, and I got two outfits for $9.99 including shipping. They came yesterday, and they're so adorable!
We also talked to DH's parents last night. They were soooo excited to hear about Addie's birthdate! They called us and told us we have a package coming from them and a couple of their friends who have all bought us things for Addie. And so it starts... the spoiling of Princess Addie! They said this is "only the beginning". I am so happy they're so excited about her! She's going to have so much love surrounding her all the time.
Jenny emailed me today, and said that the orphanage has informed her that the referral packet should be ready to be sent out by early next week!!!!!!!!!! We'll FINALLY be seeing our BABY!!!!!!!!!! I am so, so happy right now! I cannot wait!! I wonder what she looks like! Does she have big, brown eyes? Curly hair? Chubby cheeks? Is she tall and thin or short and chubby? Does she have dimples? OMG, how am I going to get through the next week and a half or so????
