Great news today!!!!!!!! Here's my post from the Adoption board:
Jenny called me today, and said my relatives can pretty much go to the orphanage any time now to see Addie!!!!!!!!!!!! She also said that the referral packet will be done today or tomorrow, and on its way to us. AND... either tomorrow or early next week, she'll have a digital picture of Addie to send to us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DH and I are soooo happy!!!!!!!!!!! I can't wait for my relatives to get together and take a trip there, I can't wait for the referral packet to get here, and I can't wait for a picture of my baby girl to be in my email inbox!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!!!!!
I need last-through-the-day vibes right now. PLEASE send me last-through-the-day vibes. I have a PICTURE of my baby girl sitting in my email inbox. I am freaking out. It's 7:40 AM here, and Tim and I have agreed to look at it together on my lunch break at 11 AM. I know I sound weirdly calm, but that is just because I am now in shock. At first I was sooooooo hyper, and now I am just... calm. There's a post on the Adoption board about it if you would like to see how I was right after I saw it. Please send me calm vibes and last-through-the-day vibes.
Ahhh, the bliss of finally knowing what your child looks like is really unbelievable! She is so incredibly beautiful! I keep asking Tim how we got so lucky. She is perfect in every way. I so wish I could post pictures of her on here! I just want to shout out to the world that we have a DAUGHTER and she is perfect!! Here are a few facts I'd like to share:
1. She has curly black hair, and LOTS of it!
2. She has big, twinkling black eyes.
3. Her cheeks are enormous! It's almost as if she's storing nuts in there for the winter!
4. She has tiny perfect little fingers.
5. She is wearing an adorable little tanktop.
6. She has a perfect, cupid's bow-shaped mouth that makes me want to kiss her sooo badly!!
7. She looks curious and sad at the same time, which really breaks my heart.
8. She might have a faint scar above her left eyebrow. The picture we were sent is quite low quality, so we can't be sure if it's just an artifact or something physically present on her.
All in all, I am in heaven. She is beautiful, she's gorgeous, she is ours. Thank you, God.
It's so funny, DH was looking at Addie's picture last night, and he goes, "We really do have the cutest baby." I smiled and said, "Yes, we do." Then he goes, "But doesn't everyone think that? So do we really have the cutest baby or not?" So I laughed and said, "I think we do, but I am sure others would say theirs are cuter." So DH gets really quiet and contemplative and then he says, "Well, I think she's the cutest." I just never imagined he would fall as much in love with her as I did from just seeing her picture! This morning we woke up, and he said, "She looks so inquisitive. She's really smart, I can tell." He is so in love with his little girl already!! It warms my heart.
My aunt and uncle had visited Addie's orphanage two weeks ago (I didn't know about this until yesterday). They said they hadn't called ahead, so the orphanage was reluctant to let them in. My aunt sweet-talked her way in, and got to see all the babies. Well, she had told my uncle that
there was one baby girl in particular that she thought would be perfect for Tim and me. And today, after I sent her the picture, she said it
was Addie she had picked out!!!! She said she didn't want to tell me in case the baby we were referred was a different one. But she said she remembers her well, and she is
very pretty, healthy, and chubby. She said she has a little bit of me and a little bit of Tim in her, and my aunt just immediately honed in on her. Talk about written in the stars, eh??
WE SAW OUR LITTLE ADRIANA!!!! She looks like an angel and a loooot like u did when u were a baby... it's uncanny!!! Especially the lips and eyes. They had just woken her up from a nap so she was a bit subdued. She is sooo sweet and has such chubby cheeks!!! She even smiled at me once!!! And then she was kinda checking us out!! She is sooo cute! Her hair-do is different now... they gave her a summer crop!!! She is such a delight. We all hugged her and kissed her and smelled her!! And i wanted to bring her home with us...
[My other aunt and uncle] will be going to Pune every two weeks and they said they would visit her everytime.
I am so happy to hear how much they loved on her!! And I cannot WAIT to hear if they were able to take more pictures for us!! I am dying here!! My uncle and aunt who have the digital camera won't be able to email me until next week though! OMG I want more pictures so bad!!!!
Yessss!!!! Apparently my uncle did take pics with his digital camera!! I want to send him an email saying, "HURRY UP AND UPLOAD THEM SO WE CAN SEE HER!!!!!!!!!" I know that's not very nice, but patience has never been my strong suit.
I have been up since 2:30 AM, yes AM. Tim's work called, so that woke me up. Then, I padded out to the living room to see what he was upto (he was off the phone, but still hadn't come to bed). He told me that my aunt had sent us pictures, but they hadn't come through!! So I emailed her right away and asked her to please resend them. Of course, after that I couldn't sleep. So at 3:30 AM, I got out of bed to try to sleep in the living room. But of course, I ended up checking my email instead and there they were!!!! And not only that, they had sent us a video of her too!!!!!! OMG, she is sooooooo cute!!!! If it's even possible, she is even cuter than in her referral pictures!!!! The video made me bawl though, because the poor baby, she looks so guarded and independent. Like she isn't sure whether she can trust them. It broke my heart! But the good news is, exactly 4 weeks from today, we'll be on that plane to hold her in our arms forever!!!! I so wish I could share those pictures on here; she is just stunning!!!!!!!!!!
By the way, I have started updating my blog a lot more frequently than I used to, and I know once we bring Addie home, I'll probably write there exclusively. Here's the link: http://princessaddie.blogspot.com
I don't know how I forgot to add that we saw her SMILE!!!!!!!!!! One of my aunts made her smile, it was the MOST beautiful thing I have ever seen in my life! It doesn't look like she has any teeth. And they said she's small for her age. They're taking her to an independent pediatrician appointment to make sure the orphanage gives us an accurate report of her health. Like I told my uncle, it's not as if we could ever refuse her now, but it'll be good to know what we need to look out for!
I've watched the video like a million times! Here are some of my observations:
- She is very, very observant.
- She attached to one of my aunts the most, and quickly. Hopefully that means she'll attach to me relatively quickly, too!!
- She tracked this aunt with her eyes when she moved away from her line of vision.
- She smiles for this aunt in the video!
- She is small for her age, and looks developmentally delayed, which we expected from her being in an orphanage since birth.
- She was wearing cute red booties.
- She looks serious and independent.
- She likes to be bounced - she almost fell asleep when my grandma did this!
- She does not have a scar on her forehead like we had thought previously. Her skin is perfectly clear! Not that it mattered, we would love her just the same!
- She doesn't appear to have any teeth.
- In the video, she's wearing a "bindi" - a little cosmetic spot between the eyebrows that women and girls in India wear. She looks so adorable with it on!
