I started off by calling our local county family services and they were able to give me the names of both private and county run agencies. As well as other general state adoption info, websites etc. Hope that helps

Hi there! In most states there is Children's Home Society. They are one to check out. We are using them in our state and also another agency we found through word of mouth. You can also call the state agency for approved agencies. Most agencies must be liscensed with the state. Bethany Christian Services is another one. I personally did not choose them because of some of their requirements that my husband felt uncomfortable with (writing a faith statement).

If you have any questions regarding the "process" please feel free to ask here or you can PM me.

We completed all our paperwork in Feb/March and have officially been waiting for about 6/7 months.

Good Luck and be sure to ask questions if you have them

Thank you so much ladies. It is all so overwhelming. I just need a place to start I guess. I will have to find our local family service number and give them a call. Thank you again. I'm sure I'll be back to ask more questions

We decided to do foster-to-adopt through our state. For us, it was quick and easy. I know that's not usually the case. We brought our DS home from the hospital when he was 10 days old. He'd been abandoned.
