Denise & Sandy,
I would love to hear more about your adoptions. I have been interested in adopting a child or two from Kazakhstan for 2-3 years now. Denise, what adoption service did you use? Sandy, I did not realize that India had an international adoption program but after hearing about that, I would love to know more about it.
I have had a gut feeling most of my adulthood that I would never be able to get PG. There has never been any logical explanation for having this feeling until this past April when I was finally diagnosed with dysfunctional uterine bleeding. While this doesn't automatically make me infertile, the hormonal imbalance that's most likely behind it could affect my fertility. Frankly, I really don't care about finding out for sure because I'm not interested in pursuing any fertility treatments. Charting my temps and using Pre-Seed is about as far as we will go! DH and I both feel very strongly for us any time, money, or emotional investment in having a family would be far better spent on adoption rather than fertility treatments.
Hello. My name is Courtney partners name is Sari. We are adopting from Ethiopia. We have the homestudy done and are just waiting to get of the waitlist to start the dossier which should be sometime this month according the adoption agency. We hope to have our baby home in May. We ttc for 11 cycles so are apart of a lot of ttc and pregnancy bored and are just looking for an adoption bored to make some new friends.
Hi Courtney and welcome to the board! If you don't mind me asking, what agency are you using - we're adopting our daughter from Ethiopia - we're working on our dossier right now. Just wondered since there aren't many agencies for Ethiopia, if we were using the same one! We're with CHSFS.
Hi. I love to meat other Ethiopia adoption mommies!!
We are using AAI (adoption advocates international) we are very happy with them so far.
Did you have to be on a waitlist to start the dossier?
How far are you into the dossier?
Maybe we will be close to the same timeframe!
We are using CHSFS - We actually started out thinking we would use AAI and had even submitted our application to them. But ultimately, we decided that neither of us wanted to wait the 6 months on the waitlist to even start the dossier. So we switched to CHSFS and are very happy so far with them. Really, all the references I talked to for either agency gave me the general consensus that we're in good hands with either one. They seem to be "the big 2."
No, there's no waitlist to dossier with CHSFS. We are currently awaiting word from them that our homestudy was received and accepted and we are gathering what we can for our dossier - we've got probably close to half of what we need. Once they've given our homestudy the green light, they'll send us the last few things we need to get for the dossier.
I'm hoping to have the dossier together in the next month. Maybe that's too optimistic, but I hope not! Referrals for baby girls are running 4-6 months for them right now, so I'm really hoping to have a referral in the spring, and have her home in the summer!! But like I said, I'm trying not to be TOO optimistic! We'll see!
We are WAY optimistic!! Hope to have our baby home by May.
We are talking to someone who used AAI this year and are adopting again she just sent in her dossier and is hoping to have her baby home april/may so considering she has used them before she knows the timeline so I guess we are not too far off. We are getting a boy and the wait for referral is less time then getting a girl.
I think I read you are getting a girl right? What age? Do you have a name picked out yet?
I read good things about CHSFS as well. I think we went with AAI cause it was less $ (I think) We have been on the waitlist with AAI since July. We are the next people to start the dossier so it will be this month!! That’s 3 almost 4 months on the waitlist. We finished the homestudy already we are waiting for the final copy only one thing missing and that the approval from dfcs. We have know idea what taking them so long.
Anyway SO nice to talk to you
Yes, AAI is less and really, that was our deciding factor in the beginning since I really couldn't find anything really negative about either. But we had already nearly completed our homestudy (we were only waiting on a paper or 2) when we applied to the agency - so maybe I would have been more willing to wait it out with AAI if we still had our homestudy to "fill the time", KWIM? I can handle waiting once all our paperwork is done (HA, I say that now!) but to sit and do nothing, I'm just not cut out for. lol
We are thinking that our daughter will likely be between 5-10 months when she comes home?? I think that seems accuracte based on what I'm seeing. We are choosing the escort option, so that may add a few weeks in getting her home, but it's the best choice for us at this time.
We have about a dozen names that we throw around all the time - just haven't settled on which one it will be!
Oh ya escort can add sometime.
I hear ya on the having the homestudy done I am 100% sure if we had our homestudy done at the time that we where looking at agency we would not have waited on a list either.
When did you start your dossier?
Our sone should be 4 to 10 months so same age
So please share the names you have.. I am obsessed with baby names!
We have just started collecting our dossier stuff in the past 2-3 weeks - I've got our certified copies of our birth certificates, marriage licenses, DH's divorce decree, W-2 copies, financial letter from our bank, police clearance letters..can't remember what else. I've requested and am waiting for DH's employer letter, our 2 letters of rec. and our medical statement. Once we have the official approval from CHSFS, they have 4-5 more documents that we just have to fill our and have notarized.
I love talking baby names too - you'll regret getting me started! I'll make a seperate post!
