I so hear you on that!! I'm just tired of having to light fire's under DH and our friends writing the rec. letters!! If I could do it all myself, my timeline would be much quicker! People just slow me down. lol
Oh, I am so sorry, I didn't see this until just now! India has a very temperamental program, LOL. They are really easy to work with as long as you or your spouse are Indian citizens. I am, so this process is going really smoothly for us and the wait times are really short. However, if you're not a citizen, then the wait times are long, and you usually only get approved for older and/or special needs kids. If you want a younger child (12-18 months is the youngest you can get with not being a citizen), then the wait is really long (around 2 years). So not a lot of people adopt from India. It's a great program though, if all of this meets your criteria! The children rarely have any emotional problems, and are very healthy. PM me if you want more info!Originally Posted by mrs.buddy

Hi all,
I'm Deanne and my DH is John. We have a beautiful 8 (almost 9 now, wow the time flies) month old DBS named Benjamin.
We had always talked about doing foster care and actually weren't going to do bio at all, but decided we had enough room in our hearts for both. We don't know if our fostering will lead to adoption or not, although I'm sure it probably will.
We're going to start the process soon and look to start fostering in a year or so. We'll most likely do toddlers and older children.
--Deanne--
WAHM to Benjamin, born 2/3/06 and Zachary, born 5/30/08 at a whopping 9 lbs, 11.4 ounces
Super cute childrens clothes and cloth diapers, stocking every Thursday at noon -- www.hyenacart.com/betterbums
Welcome and how wonderful!
It takes very special people to foster. God bless you richly!
Welcome Deanne!!!!This is a great forum to hang out on! I think there are a couple of ladies on here who were (are?) thinking about doing foster-to-adopt, so I am sure they will be great resources for you and you DH. Btw, your baby is absolutely adorable!!!!!

Hi. I'm Meira. I'm still trying to figure out the lingo and abbreviations around here, but I think I'm getting it! My DH and I have been together for almost two years, married for three months. TTC for a year. Two miscarriages. After the second, started the adoption process. I already have a nine-year-old daughter, adopted as a special needs infant. She is my heart. In the US, adopting a child from the foster care system is relatively cheap. Our homestudy process has cost us $1500. plus a few hundred here and there for various items of paperwork. I'm definitely in a place where I could use a community of women going through this with me. Thank you for being here!
Hi Meira!Welcome! This is a really wonderful place to go through all the emotions that adoption brings. I, for one, wouldn't have made it this far without this board and the women on it!
Congrats on being so far along in the process!! Once the HS is done, you'll be "officially" approved to foster children in your home, right? You'll have to make a separate post on the boards so we can all reply to you, and welcome you properly!
Glad you're here!
