    Default Adoption via foster care?

Question for the Answer Box (i.e. responses from YOU!): We cannot have kids on our own but are considering adopting some older children that need a home. Have any of you gone this route? Did you foster first?

Go the foster-to-adopt route also called fostering with a view. I was adopted by my foster family when I was 5.5 years old. With older kids you will have attachment issues so read all you can on attachment. We are hoping to go the foster-to-adopt route in about a year.

I have not, but I know people who grew up in foster care. If you have the space & finances, I would encourage you to consider fostering and/or adopting a family unit. Sibling groups often get broken up in foster care simply because many foster parents are only willing to take one or two foster kids in addition to their own kids. And then one child (usually the youngest) is placed with a family that wants to adopt him but they don't want to take on 2 or 3 older siblings, who are left bouncing around foster homes because they're considered less adoptable just from being older.
David Letterman is retiring. Such great memories of watching him over the past thirty-two years!
