Airline experience??? Help!

I'm planning a trip to Vegas for our 10th anniversary in May!

From Ottawa to Vegas, I can either go US Airways or American Airlines. The reviews for both online aren't very good. Does anyone have a good or bad experience with either one?

I would pick based on whether or not the flight is direct or not, and the schedule.

IMO, American Airlines and US Airlines are just about the same. They are both major carriers with jets. They are not "discount" airlines like Spirit Air, etc.

Neither are non-stop. It's pretty much the same flight, they leave and arrive within a half hour of each other. US Airways connects in Philadelphia and AA connects Chicago.

Doesn't westjet go there? That would be my choice.

That would be my choice too, it does go there, for an extra $500 or so. I'm booking through expedia, so far it's the best deal. So it's US or AA on the way there and Air Canada on the way home.

Chicago Midway or Chicago O'Hare. If not Midway, I'd go with the one that connects in Philly. Chicago O'Hare is a HUGE airport, and known for delays.

Check out Porter Airlines. They don't advertise on Expedia and they offer good rates to Canada and the US. Actually, quite a few don't advertise on Expedia/travel sites anymore so you may want to check with an agent as well as they have best selection.

I NEVER EVER connect through Chicago O'Hare if I can help it. Always delays!!!

Not sure that I would be wanting to use Air Canada these days with wildcat strikes. I received a FB notice today that West Jet has extended their Spring sale... when did you last check prices?

I check prices everyday. Their price still wasn't cheap. And their flight times sucked.
I didn't even think of the problems with Air Canada. Hope my travel insurance covers that.

Why must shopping for flights be so complicated! The price difference people pay are crazy.
