Thanks Missy! LOL that would be funny. Luckily for her, my mom called right before I went to lunch. My parents went over to see my sister yesterday- sunday because my dad has work conference... I was bummed they were gonna miss my birthday and DS's birthday. But whatever.

Do they (your parents) live in the same town as you? I assume your sister doesn't.

I know how sucky it is to live in a different town. When I was in South Africa I only got to go to my nephew's birthdays in June and then see them for some Christmases, and my dad's 50th. Since we moved here I've missed out on my mom's 50th, my sister's wedding and my niece's 1st birthday

I read your journal entry! I am so thrilled to hear those numbers! Hope that they keep going up. And woah! Those "signs" are pretty freaky! And in a group of 3 makes it seem even more portentous!

My parents live 20 min away from my sister and they're also in different towns Small-town living, hey It's all very up-in-the-air as to whether we get to go visit our folks this year. Last year we went to France for a vacation so we didn't go home. And now we're waiting to hear about our visa status which will decide if we can go home. Plus now (if all goes well) I won't be able to fly after August anyways. But in that case my mom will definitely come out here......I can't let myself get ahead of myself though.

Roxi, I'm sorry to hear of your hubby's condition - that must be hard for you all. How else does it affect him? Is he still quite mobile?
Where abouts do you live in SA?

Maddie - Aww I hope you had a lovely birthday. Did you get anything nice? Families, lets not even go there - I have a sucky relationship with most of mine, especially my Dad.

So, I am in a terrible mood today!

I joined Weight Watchers last Thursday and had my weigh-in last night. I stayed EXACTLY the same!! The leader said it could have something to do with being on my period, but I actually feel like I lost quite a bit. It doesn't make sense.... on top of that me and DBF had such a stupid argument this morning before I left for work. He upsets me though by the things he comes out with - he doesn't think before he speaks and now I'm at work thinking over it constantly.

    xx

Roxi- I know you don't want to get ahead of yourself, I totally get that. I'm extremely worried still but it's A LOT better now that those numbers when up so much. I betcha it would be really great to see your mom. I hope that she comes to see you... instead of you going to see them!

I've been to France before. I went there when I was 17 and stayed with a family for a month. It should have been a great opportunity but I didn't let it be of course. Stupid young girl. I was super homesick.. and just wanted to be home to see my boyfriend (Hey! Guess what, I got pregnant the next month after coming back. HAHA). I should have enjoyed it more... but it was also culture shock and being without anyone I know or even any Americans. It was rough. I was in Paris a lot. A town called Marine. And I went to Normandy. I at least have the experience... but I want to go again with my hubby and enjoy it more this time.

Kristi- I didn't get much for my birthday I guess. But the gift I got from my hubby was WAAAAY expensive. He bought it early last month so I've had it since then. It's a DSLR camera... and I love it but I don't use it much yet. I'll get there. He bought me some flowers on the way home too. And a cake and icecream. We went to dinner and a movie last night too. My dad bought me a boiler thing. He knows I love making dinner for large groups (even for holidays) and so he got it. He also got my sister one for her birthday this year. LOL. But that's pretty much it. I should be grateful though.

If you feel like you've lost weight you might of. Periods make you bloat and stuff so maybe that is really it? Hang in there... it'll take time. My mom has been on weight watchers multiple times (She never sticks to it) and she's lost A LOT of wait that way.

I don't know what DBF is I don't think? I'm sorry that you two got in a fight though and that it's kinda made you feel cruddy. I hope your day brightens up!!

He's still mobile, meaning he's not in a wheelchair, but he can't do all the things he used to do. He used to do amateur car racing and was also learning to fly a small plane before he got sick. Plus he liked to hike and rockclimb. It's a really weird condition because none of the symptoms seem connected and they are also the same as Chronic Fatigue Syndrom or MS. His main ones are chronic fatigue - I mean there are weekends where he wakes up only to eat. As well as a constant, uninterrupted headache. Think of the worst migraine/hangover you've ever had and now imagine having that every day all day. That's what I understand it's like. And anything that creates higher pressure in his head makes it worse, eg sneezing, coughing, bending down. And then he has a bunch of others which are a less tangible: he can't think as well as he used to; he often says the wrong words even though he's thinking the right one; he has lost a lot of his fine motor coordination, he has trouble gripping with two fingers, he struggles to get a key in the lock without concentrating fully on the task; he has some sensation loss in his fingers; and his muscles are constantly twitching.

Sorry, didn't mean to get so heavy

Most recently we lived in JOhannesburg, but I've lived in 5 different towns. My dad would get promoted or change jobs every 3-4 years

Men! What did he say to upset you? I also obsess over our fights, especially when there wasn't time to resolve it.

It takes a lot of effort to remember he has something wrong because there are no visible signs like a broken leg and he *acts* so normal. It's even harder because he can't let his employer know how bad it is because our visas are dependent on him being employed to them. So subsequently a lot of our friends can't know because he works with them.

But hey! What doesn't kill us makes us stronger, right?
