Default Do you tip your hair dresser?

If you do, how much do you usually tip?

I am always curious about this, because it seems like it's not as common as I thought it was to tip them.

Absolutely. I usually give her anywhere from $5-10 depending on how much I have in my account

every time! Like Dawn, its $5-$10 depending on the amount of work done, time, etc.... I actually have tipped up to $20 a few times for color only because my hair is to my waist, and it takes up to 3 hours! The tip is so important to those ladies! Especially if they work in a salon and pay a booth fee!
    I'm back, baby.

You absolutely should always tip. If you do not tip, and return to that location more than once, they will remember you do not tip and usually not spend as much time/energy on making your hair look the best possible. I tip $15-20 for my hair, which is only an inch or two below my chin. I give a ten dollar tip to my husbands barber, except on holidays like Christmas eve or Easter, I give $20. I won't go get my hair done until I know I have enough in my account for a decent tip. I just hope to put the good karma out there, and when I pick up a weekend shift waiting tables, hope it is returned.

I tip, but I do not tip 15-20.00 on a haircut. Thats a 100% tip. The girl who does my hair, does a great great job, but she only charges 17.00 for a cut.

We always tip for haircuts. I factor that in when budgeting for the cost... even for kids' cuts. Granted, I do wish that I shared a stylist's talent and was able to save for the kids!

yes, my hairdresser is fabulous. it depends on how much i am spending. For a cut, usually $5 if i am getting a cut and highlights I tip $10. It's only $8 for her to cut my sons hair so I give a couple dollars for that
