DH and I have been painting all day and still need to put the final coat on the fireplace trim pieces. It's looking good though. Need to put the final coat on tomorrow. We had painted the wall above the mantel the blue color and didn't like it now repainted it the orange color. I'm still trying to figure out that side of the room and what I think would look best. I think the way we know have it is the best because if it was blue the hangings would just blend in. I'm trying to get used to the blue color also. When I had been thinking blue I was thinking a lighter blue but at the paint store it didn't look good so I got a darker/brighter color. It's just change to get used to. I think once we have the room put back together it will look more finished. DH also put up our new ceiling fan. I'll post before/after pics of everything. Poor DH finally gets a couple days off and I put him to work at home.

I agree that getting ready for a vacation necessitates one. Also, you need a vacation when you get home from vacation.

My MIL is a very nice person. My parents tell me she really thinks a lot of me. I don't think they really got along with DH's first wife. I just need to work these issues out more so with DD. She needs to act more mature for her age. Her younger sisters behave more mature then she does at times.

You're so brave painting yourself! No way would I even attempt to do that lol.

Jules, where are you going on vacation?

I just got into work, think I'm coming down with the flu or something Plus I did boxercise on Tuesday night so my body is aching ALL over! It was sooo tough but I loved every minute and can't wait til next week ha.

I picked DD up from school yesterday and her teacher told me that she had flushed another little girls skirt down the toilet! I was mortified. When I asked her why she did it, she said "because she told me too" yea ok darling, don't try and kid a kidder haha. So yes, she had no treats before bed and was one unhappy bunny.

Kristi...hope you feel better soon! That must've been a powerful toilet to flush a skirt down it. Has your daughter ever done anything like this before?

Kristi, I can so imagine the conversation before the fateful flush. lol "Oh look, it floats." "Let's make it sink." "I'm not touching stuff in the toilet." "Hey, hit flush. That will get it all wet." And so the skirt sank... Just out of idle curiosity, why were two little girls in the bathroom at the same time and why was the skirt even off the one and into the toilet?

We're driving through the Southwest. I've wanted to see the rock formation down there and the Indian ruins in the cliffs. It's a long drive for us; we're in the Seattle area, but we're taking two weeks and have a very fluid schedule, an ice chest and tent/sleeping bags in case it's warm enough to camp out part of the time. I have some spots I do want to see, but mostly it's an "on whim" type trip with a list of possibilities. For starters, I have never seen the grand canyon.

Meg, speaking of kids and acting their ages...somehow when my teen flew into Canada, she had a run-in with airport security. The martial arts bag was the perfect size for a carry-on. Too bad she didn't quite get all the weapons out. A 2" throwing star stuck in somewhere. So she needs to finish her letter asking that the fine be reduced, like today and get that in the mail. Otherwise, she needs a better job. Isn't it funny how some tasks seem impossible to a person; others that really ARE difficult they can fly into with no problem.

I've only been to the SW once and that was in July/August. We stayed in Sedona. We went to the Grand Canyon. It wasn't something I was dying to see but we were so close it was silly not to go.

We got all of the painting done. I just have to touch up the screws on the light/outlet covers. I'll post pics once we have the room back together and my wall hangings come. Hopefully they come soon.

    Wow, great kids stories.

Yesterday a good friend of DH died in Afganastan. It has made for a long day/night. Not sure yet if we will be able to make it to the memorial service. I hate being left hanging in the balence.

Bonita...I'm so sorry to hear about DH's friend. I'm sure it's a very hard time for you and DH. Hope you are able to support eachother and find support in others during this difficult time.

    Thank you.

I know it is selfish of me, but I hate waiting for the funeral details. DH and I are trying to decide if we should travel for NY for the funeral, but we do not know when it will be. He is so laid back about it, but he is not packing for 3 children. I am such a planner when it comes to trips, I want to know at least 1 week ahead of time, not the day we leave.

Bonita...I don't think that's selfish of you at all. It is so hard to plan for something when the details are up in the air, esp when kids are involved.

Bonita, I'm so sorry to hear of DHs friends passing I can't even imagine knowing someone out there and worrying about them every day! I hope you guys can make it to the funeral.

Jules, your trip sounds like fun! I would love to do a road trip someday in the US.... route 66 would be amazing.

DD was at school so they have like 3 or 4 cubicles and I think they get to go on their own because they should be independant at 4/5 right? Anyway, I'm presuming the little girls skirt fell off from round her ankles whilst she was taking a pee and that's how DD has got hold of it. Whether she did it on her own accord I have no clue but OMG, she's going to be a nightmare. It never flushed all the way but she tried her best! haha.

I decided not to go to the trial today.... I figured it will probably get adjourned anyway.
