I'm trying to think up of some ideas for easy DIY Halloween costumes. What are your kids going as? DD3 wants to be Luna Lovegood from Harry Potter. I think we have the clothes and accessories for that costume. DD2 has no clue what she wants to be so I was looking for ideas for her. I'm not sure if DD1 will go trick or treating or not. We have a cute tweeny bee costume that DD1 was last year. I know DD2 won't want to wear the same thing but I found an idea for "spelling bee." We could put letters on the bee costume to change it up. I'll mention it to her and hope she likes it. I also found "raining cats and dogs" for DD1 if she's going to dress up. She could put small stuffed cats and dogs on an umbrella and wear her rain coat and rain boots. Mostly likely she won't dress up for trick or treating but we host a Halloween party every year where ppl dress up so she might want something then. I'm going to be St. Pauli girl and DH is going to be Sam Adams.

DH is crabby with me tonight. Oh joy! His night off and he has to be a crabapple. Hopefully he will be over it by morning so we can have a pleasant day on his day off.
I hats it when that happens. Hopefully he will be in a better mood today.

He's a little better this morning. When he gets mad he'll stay mad for a long time. He needs to learn how to let things go after a while. I guess he can be the miserable one. We mowed this morning. It is so cold. Yesterday the high was 85, this morning it's 46 and windy so it feels like 36. Our high for the day was 60 and that was shortly after midnight, the temps have been dropping since. We have a really big yard and there was lots of leaves so we pushed mowed and bagged the leaves. With the wind more leaves are going to blow and there's still a ton on the leaves. It's neverending.

Tonight our city is having a "Downtown Sounds" chili cookoff. They close down mainstreet and have live music and the chili cookoff. DH and I were going to go but I'm thinking it will be too cold and miserable. I think I might be happier sitting in my warm home. We are having soup tonight though. I'm making every Thursday night soup night. It works well because I can get it ready while the girls are at school and they can eat a bowl before going to dance lessons.

There are tons of ideas on Pinterest and other blogs. Even just Google it, and tons will come up.

The tooth fairy is going to go broke in our house. She's had to come 3 times in the last 4 days and DD2 has 2 more loose teeth. DH had to go pick up some more quarters for the future. DD2 lost a tooth at school last week and DD3 lost one at home. That prompted DD2 to remember that she had lost her tooth. It had been in her backpack for a few days. She wasn't too concerned about the tooth fairy. She acts like she still believes in her but I really can't believe she does. She's in 6th grade, you'd think she'd know. She even wrote a letter to the tooth fairy. Maybe she's really good at playing along for her younger sister's sake. I'm hoping it's that, otherwise she is too naive.

I'm looking forward to this weekend. Tomorrow after the girls are out of school we leave for Des Moines for the weekend. DH and I are doing The Color Run on Saturday and the girls will watch with my parents. We are going to stay at a hotel for the weekend so the girls will get to swim. On Saturday after the run the girls will go with their aunt and uncle until Sunday and we are planning on going out to eat with my family. Sunday we have reservations for brunch with my sister and her boyfriend at a really yummy place. Then we have tickets to go see "Les Miserables." It will be a busy but fun weekend.

    Sounds like a nice weekend.

My oldest has lost 8 teeth, but does not look like she will lose any more any time soon. My middle child (5) has not lost any teeth yet, but she has two that has been just a little wiggly for months.

I'm thinking DD2 should be about done loosing teeth after these other two that are loose come out. DD3 has a few more. DD1 is done except for wisdom teeth extraction as she gets older. DD2 does not pull her teeth. She lets them get so loose she just plop out and don't even bleed. DD3 will sit and wiggle her teeth constantly so they come out.

We went to the chili cookoff and had a good time. There were about 13 entries and we had 3 favorites that we liked so it was hard to choose the best. They were all good though. One of the ones in our top 3 had pumpkin in it. It was good because it was different.

DH and I bought 44 pairs of flip flops at the $ Store yesterday to take to Nicaragua. For 50 cents a pair we couldn't pass them up. My mom bought 79 pairs at her $ Store. Lots of kids down there don't have shoes so run around in the dirt barefoot and this increases their risk for parasites. They are light and easy to throw in a suitcase. You can buy them down there but they are much more expensive. We figure we'll take them and distribute them to different villages.

We had a blast at the Color Run other than it being freezing. It was about 45 degrees, overcast and very windy. My feet were completely numb by the time we started running. There was 27000 ppl registered for the race. It's the biggest Color Run in history. It was so big that they had to have a 1pm and a 4pm race. We were in the 1pm race. Every 2-3 minutes, they'd let a wave of 1000 ppl start. We got lined up in the starting line around 12:00 and were in the 2nd wave. There was about 1500 ppl in front of us and about 11000 behind us. When we finished the race the starting line was still huge. I know of some ppl who had to wait over an hour to start after the race officially started. We stuck around for the Color Party afterwards for a bit. They had a DJ and all the runners gathered and danced. Then every 15 minutes they'd have a color explosion where you'd throw packs of color. There was so much color thrown it would go dark and you couldn't see anyone in the crowd. DH and I ran the whole thing. It really didn't feel like a 5K. I wasn't even tired when I was done. It was kind of cruel because we started going down a big hill, then had to finish going up it. If a Color Run ever comes to you area, I strongly encourage you to do it. We saw Les Miserables today and it was an amazing show. I'm always amazed at the talent the performers had. We had a very fun weekend!!
