As for around here, the weather was beautiful today after LONG days and months of triple digit heat. I just gave the kids some home made Popsicles. Due to this mosquito issue in Dallas I'm so double minded about what to do with the kids when the weather isn't hot. I hate mosquito repellent. They always end up rubbing their eyes and putting their fingers in their mouths. I just don't feel good about it, yet I don't want them to take a chance in WNV either and yet I don't want them to stay locked up inside! ughhh. Maybe someone can share what they do because I don't have much experience with mosquitos and the outdoors. All of my kids are little, like 6 and under.

Ah....... I hate dealing with the mosquitoes for any of our family but particularly for the little ones. We try to limit exposure during peak mosquito hours (early morning and dusk / early evening.) As the weather isn't as hot that opens up more time outside to play. We also are trying to avoid being near the river/creeks where mosquitoes appear to more heavily populated.

Unfortunately, both of those aren't always possible as the older kids have practice at dusk and the fields are by the river. The mosquitoes were HORRIBLE the other night. ARGH.

I have a hard time taking my kids outside because of the mosquitoes too. The girls pediatrician told me it was much better to deal with bug spray that the sicknesses bugs carry.

Mind if I join in here?

I'm Meg and I'm a SAHM to 3 daughters ages 9, 11, and 12. DH and just celebrated our 5 year anniversary. I'm mostly active on the IVF board even though I've come to peace at not TTC. DH's first wife passed away very suddenly and left him with his 3 daughters. After we got married I adopted them. I've come to the realization that I don't need biological children to be a mother and I was brought into DH's and the girls' life for a reason and they were brought into my life for a reason.

Thanks! It was rough but I definately learned a lot about myself and DH and how strong I really am. If our marriage can survive all our IF trials, we can work through anything.

We've been in a major drought in our area. One good thing about no rain is no bugs or mosquitos. We had more of the annoying black picnic bugs this summer. We didn't spend much time outside this summer since it was so darn hot.

Today was my youngest's 3rd birthday. We went to the zoo and lots of other fun, but busy things. I am ready for a nice long NAP. She had a lot of fun though.

    Where did you all go?

Today I was excited to find a meat market in my area. It was nice to have fresh meat at a reasonable price.
