Help with odd cycle -- Xposted with TTC: 0- 24 months

Hello All:

So, I'm curious if anyone can help me with a couple of questions. After having had two children and researching up a storm, I'm stumped!

1) During your cylce, as you near ovulation, your cervix will be high and soft. If you conceive, it will remain high. If not, it will progressively lower up until menstration. However, can someone clarify, does it really remain high or return to a high position once implantation occurs?

2) I've been having a wacky cycle and I'm starting to wonder what is going on. I took a pregnancy test this morning, but it was negative (however, it's likely too early to test); just took the test to help resolve what is happening. Here is the deal. I've been using a clear blue easy fertility monitor for years; I have recorded the cycle history all the way back to January 2011. Using this monitor (not temping), I typically ovulate (get a peak reading on the monitor) somewhere between day 16-19 with an average luteal phase of 12-13 days. My cycle length has averaged 30 days. Also, one other thing to note, I typically get a low monitor reading and then straight to peak; rarely do I get a high inbetween and when I do, it's typically no more than 2 high days before I get a peak.

With this most recent cycle, which I started on Tuesday August 14 (10pm), I got a high (not peak) reading on August 31 (day 17) and have had consecutive high readings up to and including this morning...8 days! I had what I thought was ovulation pain on September 1 (day 18 ) and was surprised I didn't get a peak reading the next morning. So, I'm now on day 24 and still haven't got a peak reading? I've checked my cervix position and it has fluctuated a bit between high and medium. If I consider the pain I felt on September 1 to be ovulation pain, that would put me at only 6 DPO at most; so, a bit early to test! Anyone have any ideas?

TIA, Christa

Christa,

I have posted a note directing people on the DYSAL and Charting board to this thread. I'm hoping someone will have some input for you.

That said -- I'm praying! Smile

I wish I could help but I'm not knowledgeable enough about monitors. That is strange that you'd be getting a continual high reading with no peak. Hope someone else who is more familiar with them can help? Oh and as far as CP staying high the whole time after ovulation if you're pg, I don't know the answer to that one, either, sorry. :goodluck:

Like the pp, I don't know a lot about monitoring (I've monitored cm). But I do know about weird cycles. It sounds like something is a bit wacky with your hormones. Hormones can fluctuate due to stress, diet, your honey's pheramones, etc. If you aren't pregnant, and it doesn't resolve itself next month, you might look at what's going on in your life that could mess with your hormones and consider getting a blood test done to find out what's out of balance.

Thanks for the replies; I'll keep you all posted. So far, still getting a high reading. Nothing other then my kids starting at a new school (Daughter in K and son in pre-K) that I can think of that would be "stress" out of the norm Wink

Hmm... I check my cervix, but not really after O. Have you temped? Do you have signs you've Oed (closed cervix, drying CM, temp shift)? I've had a few cycles, usually while BFing, where I'd have delayed O and leading up to it I'd have almost-but-not-quite positive OPKs day after day, sometimes for a week or more, before it finally got positive and I Oed.

Good luck!

I wish I had an answer for you because we are having similar cycles!
I am on my 2nd cycle post m/c, and 2nd cycle using a FM (I used one for a few months about 4 or 5 years ago) and have went from low reading on cd8, to high on cd9, and everyday since (today is cd 18)!

Not sure what to think either

Well Ladies: I'm not sure what was going on. But, in any case, AF made her presence known this afternoon. Guess I'll see what the next cycle brings and if it's still wacky, I'll call the doc for a blood test!

Sorry to hear AF showed (if you were TTC), but yay for a fresh start! I hope this cycle goes better.

Not sure if this helps or not and I know you are on a new cycle, but thought I'd answer anyway.

1) remember positive stress can delay things too.

2) I KNOW mine cervix stayed high the whole time. It never lowered and then raised. (I only know this with Faith.)

3) Although I never used a monitor, I used Ovulation tests for a few months when we first started TTC with Faith and I never got a positive test. Although probably COMPLETELY different than the monitor, I read something ONE time and I don't remember where, but it said that it can have something to do with hormones. So if this cycle ends up wacky I'd talk to the doctor as you have already said you would.

Anyway, HTH.
