It's been a long time, I hope everyone is well.
I need some help with my almost 5 year old. We've had behavioral issues with him since he was 18 months old, he now has learning delays and classic adhd symptoms. I've been talking with his dr about this since he was 2 and at first it was a wait and see, and then here's a number to a behavioral therapist. So I called them and they told me I had to call on the first Wednesday of the month at 8am and *maybe* I'll get an appt, but it won't be until 6 months later.
We moved two weeks ago to a new house and that's unleashed all sorts of behavior, including violence. Our dr is now over an hour and he's going on vacation so an appt is almost impossible. Here's my question, which dr should he being seeing? How's the fastest way to get a diagnosis and some meds, because I've tried everything else; herbs, vitamins, CST appts, chiropractic. I need help, my family is falling apart because of this and we're all suffering.

Kristina, I am so sorry you're dealing with this. I do have some ideas and will share those with you this evening.
I think I would try to make an appointment with clinical psychologist who specializes in childhood development. They might be able to give you help on dealing with and changing the behavior.
Tons of ((((hugs)))) to you and your family. I'll keep you in my thoughts.
Hun, I am so sorry you are going through this and can kind of understand too. I am having major issues with my 4 yr old and it is since we moved in May. My advice (works for some!) would be to google Jo Frost and message her from her website, including everything that your son is upto. She (or someone) will respond with helpful tips for you. It sounds like a long shot but honestly, anything is better than nothing right?

I luurrrrrve to lurk!
Aw, I am sorry your going through this. Just like the move was stressful for you, I am sure it stressed your son out as well. Hopefully in time, his bad behavior will slowly subside. I wish you the best! KUP!
I'm sorry that things are so tough. Is he starting preschool or kindergarten in the fall? If you talk to his teacher they may be able to point you towards some resources.
In the mean time I would call his doctor, explain what is happening and try to get a referral to a child psychologist. The wait time is usually long, but when you call to make an appointment ask if they have a list that you can be put on where they will contact you if there are any cancellations.
Hang in there, and great job trying to do what is best for him!
