    Good morning my lovely,

Leia was 5 months old on her first Christmas too! We got her some rattley toys, a reindeer teddy, new dummies, a baby gro and head band all Christmas themed.

    Hope that helps a little.

    xx

probably will get Annabeth: sippy cup or 2, baby spoons, baby toy, and a small book. Other ideas: taggie blanket, bath toy, fun onesie/bib/socks, kids music cd or dvd, baby bowls/dishes, special ornament (my first christmas or one with his name and birthdate)

I agree -- pacifiers, pacifier holders, small toys, onesie, baby bath/lotion, etc. There are lots of little things for babies that fit in a stocking. Hit the store and just browse

Oh - and we also get the kids their own ornament each year. We try to make it specific to something in their lives for instance, a big sister ornament for K when Q was born, a tooth for the first lost tooth, a bike the year they got bikes, Moose when we went to a national park on vacation, etc. You get the idea. We are sure to add the year to the ornament (even if it's just written on the back).

Love the suggestions! For our kids at that age, my thought was that it was more about those 'photo op' moments. True that it is likely not something that he would remember but it IS a moment that over time we all (parents and kid) would treasure looking back at.

Our rule of thumb gifts for First Christmas:
    • Something to cuddle: Small soft blankie, teddy (or other animal), those "Taggie" that are sort of best of both worlds...
    • A book inscribed by mom/dad that we could read together in the years to come (Maybe pick one of your childhood favorites that you hope to share.)
    • Music CD - sometimes lullabies. Others more upbeat fun kid songs. One got a collection of "oldies" that dad really wanted
    • A colorful toy to stimulate. If you have your fill of rattles, consider a small set of blocks. My kids love building up / knocking down... esp. the KNOCKING down part!! from the time they could sit up (and sometimes sooner!)
    • Dated ornament: Like Christa, every year each kid gets a special ornament to hang on the tree. (Sometimes we have to write the year on it.) It is a tradition that our kids LOVE when dragging them out to decorate and taking a walk down memory lane.
Hope this helps! I'm sure whatever you do will be loved!

The music CD is a great idea -- we got some of the "Wee Sing" series for the kids. Wee Sing: Books & Music
    I love that brand.

We have a Christmas one that is wonderful to pull out after Thanksgiving and let the kids start singing Christmas songs.
Wee Sing: Wee Sing for Christmas

My mom got us one that is a story/songs in one. They tell a "story" and every so often sing a song to go with the story. This was great to have in the car
