Default Losing plug - sign of labor?

Answer Box: Can I expect to lose my plug before I go into labor? How early does this happen?

I never knowingly lost my plug. I was also not dialated at all and had no contractions until after my water broke.

Based on being on the pregnancy boards, people seem to start talking about mucous plugs around 30 weeks. They regenerate.

I remember being sooooo ready and excited at losing my plug after a long pregnancy of 'morning sickness' what felt like all day / every day. I was incredibly disappointed to have my sadistic (j/k -- sort of!) OB/GYN LAUGH and inform me that it regnerates! "Noooooooooooooo." LOL

Don't count on it. With my first I never had anything despite going two weeks overdue. With my second I was losing huge globs of mucus plug almost every day for a couple of weeks. I much prefered the first to be honest.
