National Coffee Week!!

FINALLY.............. ROFL

Sept. 26th - 30th has been designated as National Coffee Week!

so............. what is your favorite brew? Are you doing anything special to celebrate?

********************************

Out of necessity (and budget) - mine is simply straight, black... not overly strong but definitely not weak! I NEED the caffeine! LOL

I'm with Missy! (except on the strength...)

Living in Seattle might also add to my enthusiasm. My plans to celebrate include checking the local Starbucks for a free coffee, making sure I try a new flavor this week.

I like plain old black coffee. Right now my favorite beans are Kona, Tully's and Seattle Best. Any of these are wonderful if made strong enough to melt the spoon or walk out of the cup and go get a job. Biggrin

Pumpkin Spice Latte if I am feeling Sassy

YES!

It's my yearly treat. Biggrin That and pumpkin curry from Mae's on 3rd and Pike-n-Pine, downtown Seattle.

Yummmmmmmmmm.....but I've had to cut back so much on my daily habit! Sad

Mostly due to budget we're also Folgers folks, but I gotta say I really don't love it. I like my FiveBucks...err Starbucks Wink for sure, but we have a nice little independent coffee shop in the town I work in, and they make a Vanilla Caramel Latte that is heavenly!

Yay, Coffee week.
At home it's mostly instant because of budget, time and quantity. I just can't drink much because it will affect the little guys sleep. I do treat myself most Saturdays to a take away coffee from somewhere while we are doing our jobs up town.

Coffee week YAY!
Love my coffee~~
At home I have a Keurig coffee machine and I love it!!! I like the breakfast blend or morning blend. I also like Pumpking and Donut Blend. I take it with light cream and 1 sugar.
I used to go to Tim Hortons a lot for a large regular but now that i have my machine I don't go as often... like mine better!

Love coffee! We use a french press at home and it makes a world of difference! Being part Canadian now I stop by Tim Horton's quite a bit too...

Keurig all the way!

I swear we save so much money having that thing!! I wouldn't have thought it! Making a pot of coffee we always wasted a bunch because we only drink one cup each. With the Keurig, I get 54 coffees at Timothy's (I think that's a Canadian chain - they make all kids of flavoured k-cups) for $39 no tax! That's $0.72 a coffee! Way cheaper than what we were getting at Tim Hortons each day! And I can have a different flavour whenever I want! I love their Kona and Chocolate Cake flavours!

Coffee....*sigh*......you complete me!

Lately we have had Folgers Morning Blend or Dunkin Donuts French Vanilla - smells heavenly!

I take my coffee with LOTS of cream and sugar. Smile

That is my morning...in the afternoon I get a Starbucks White Chocolate Mocha Half Caff if I need a little soothing.

Coffee tidbit for the day. Smile

Coffee appears to protect against depression in women, and the more the better, researchers found.

In a prospective cohort study, women who drank two or three cups of coffee a day were 15% less likely to develop depression than those who drank one cup or less, according to Alberto Ascherio, MD, DrPH, of Harvard School of Public Health in Boston, and colleagues.

And the effect was slightly more pronounced for women who drank four or more cups a day.

We also do french press at home. Fresh ground makes a huge difference in taste. Mmmmmm. However I love me a Timmies double double. Fellow Canadian's will understand.

I do love Starbucks. But I prefer to buy their VIA for when I'm in a hurry or out. The only time I buy a premade drink from them is when I get a Chai Latte, my weakness.

Can't speak to the protection against depression, but I can say that is certainly protects the kids in my 8AM band rehearsals! ROFL The first thing my 4th graders learn..."Rule #1. Stay AWAY from Mrs. G's coffee cup!"

Yep. I was sad though that last year or the year before (can't remember when) they changed from real cream to "creamer" now. They creamer they use now has trans-fat in it which I am 100% against using. I only get a dbl dbl once in a blue moon because of that.

That's awful about tim's creamer. Sad

But on the coffee front, there's good news even for those of you that *hate* coffee (Marla...thinking of you...).

Among coffee's many perks:

  • The nutrients in coffee grounds help some plants grow
  • Coffee grounds neutralize air by sucking up stinky moisture, while giving off their own great java scent

Missy, I've got a list of benefits to share tomorrow. Some may not directly affect you and me, but I'm sharing them anyway.

I love me a caramel macchiado any day of the week. But I also love a good cup of strong joe with a touch of splenda and non-fat creamer.

I can only handle one cup a day though - I don't need caffiene to be a spaz, I'm just naturally that way!

But when I'm feeling a bit needy I bust out that 2nd cup in the afternoon and enjoy every moment of warm, golden brown deliciosity. I'm thinking today might be one of those days Wink

Christina, LOL about not needing coffee to be a spaz...I need coffee to NOT be one. Wink Coffee + ADD = good things.

It's the big day! Krispe Kream is giving away coffee all day long!

And now for the list of benefits:
Lower risk of prostrate probems (not exactly a personal problem here...)
Lower risk of altzheimer's (after years of baby brain, I'm al for this perk)
Women drinking coffee tend to be less depressed
A coffee a day keeps type 2 diabetes at bay Smile
Lowers risk of stroke
Higher consumption of coffee = less risk of parkinson's

But don't just take my word for it, read Coffee, the greatest addition ever!
