Ina May Gaskin (along with her wonderful family & team) have been longtime friends of us at Pregnancy.org. We join many throughout the world in sending positive thoughts and prayers to Ina May, family and friends following the loss of her longtime spouse and partner -- Stephen Gaskin.
Stephen was instrumental in establishing The Farm in Tennessee as one of the oldest self-sustaining communes in the country. He helped lead the group to do outreach -- including building 1200 homes in Guatemala following an earthquake; setting up a volunteer ambulance svc. in South Bronx; school lunches in Belize and much more.
Additionally, The Farm became a welcoming place for generations of women to give birth in a natural, peaceful setting. The reach did not end there -- as Ina May (with Stephen's support) inspired women and their partners throughout the world to feel empowered throughout their pregnancies and birth.
We are so incredibly grateful for Stephen's willingness to lead through a life of light and peace. His gentleness and happy spirit was contagious as evident in the countless pictures shared here.
Ina May - we mourn your loss and join you in a celebration of Stephen's life well-lived. Know he will continue to impact generations to come.
