Postpartum cycles - what to expect?

Question for the Answer Box (i.e. responses from YOU!): When did your cycle return after giving birth? Was it back to normal or were things much different? A few of my friends shared that their cycles have become longer, heavier, and more painful. Sad

Everyone is different.

I BF and went on the mini pill. After I stopped BF, I switched to another pill. I didn't have a cycle until I went off birth control again. I had to get a mammogram and they questioned that my last period was over 2 years before.

Mine have gone back to normal right after going off birth control.

I agree, everyone is different and it will really depend on if you are breastfeeding. I breastfed both my kids exclusively for 6-7 months and then slowly added in solids. But, they both breastfed until about 2-1/2 yrs of age.

In my experience:

DD: Born Oct 2006 - first cycle came 10 months later in August 2007. I had really long, irregular cycles with short luteal phases for several months. I conceived again in July 2008 after 9 cycles.

DS: Born April 2009 - first cycle came 14 months later in June 2010. Again, it took some time to level out to normal.

Good luck!
