Recently a friend of mine was having health issues. She was having extremely painful cramps and the pain would move into her Chest. She went to the doctors and they ordered an ultrasound. While this was going on she also misses her period, leading her to believe that the pain may be from a miscarriage. She had the ultrasound done and the technician examined her uterus and found no baby but did tell my friend to go home and do a test to see what results she got. When she went home she did a pregnancy test and got to positive tests. So, the question is is this a real pregnancy or could be a chemical pregnancy? I don't know a lot about chemical pregnancies which is why I am looking to you ladies. If she was pregnant I think they could have seen the baby on the ultrasound as she would have been 6 weeks pregnant, right?
It's not a guarantee that they would see anything on the ultrasound. She could have her dates wrong, or she could've ovulated later than usual..
She should go get a blood test done to see what her beta and progesterone levels are. If the pregnancy is still there and fine, then the levels will be quite high and possibly increasing. If it was a miscarriage or chemical pregnancy then her levels will be dropping.
Did they check for an ectopic pregnancy? It can cause referred chest pain.
