Some advice please.

I had unprotected sex on October 18th. My period was due on November 8th. My period arrived on October 31st and only lasted 2 days. I then had very sporadic spotting for 2 days. It is not common for me to get my period early, it usually last 3-4 days, and I never spot afterwards. Could I be pregnant and how long should I wait to take a test. I have a history of Ectopic pregnancies, 1 resulting in the loss of a fallopian tube. So i would be considered high risk and its very important that I find out early.

You are able to test now with a home pregnancy test. If you have a negative, wait about 3-5 more days and test again (unless you have a more significant period before then.

That said, there are a number of things that can throw off your cycle -- illness, stress, new medication, lifestyle changes, etc.

I am very sorry for your previous losses and hope that you do get the answer you want! Obviously, if it turns out you are pregnant do call and schedule an ultrasound as soon as possible to help relieve that concern.

We'd love to have you join in our community more *either way*! Please come back and let us know how this turns out!

What type of test did you use? I know some of our ladies on our Do You See a Line board (great group btw!) definitely do recommend using first morning urine, but also some have not had the best results with blue dye tests.

Still -- remember that there are a number of factors that can throw your cycle for a loop. If you remain concerned, contact your medical caregiver and let them know what is going on. Given your medical history they may want to do a blood test to make certain that nothing is missed.

If you have any doubt, you can get blood work done and know. I'd do this IF I suspected ectopic. If I didn't feel any sign, I probably wouldn't.

You can go to a lab such as directlabs and get a quantitative hcg test done for $49. People often spend more than this on pregnancy tests. If you're concerned only about the Oct 18 date, I'd say that this test should tell you for sure.

Thank you! I used Clear blue easy. I understand and know that alot of things can change my cycle, but being high risk makes me hyper vigilante of my cycle. I have been off BC since June and have been keeping probably too close attention to my cycle and symptoms. I plan to resets in a few days with first morning urine. I understand from my health issues that my HCG levels can be low or take longer to read due to my history of ectopics. I will keep you updated. Again Thank you!
