I'm looking for advice on vehicles that will work with 3 car seats!http://www.pregnancy.org/bulletinboards/june-2013-775/vehicles-701478/#post9017801
Just before having our third child, we decided to buy a mini van. We got a Honda Odyssey. We're on our second one since then as we love this particular mini van, esp the new model. The middle row has even more room and more seat options.
We decided to go with a minivan because even if three car seats do fit in the same row of a car, it is impossible for me to sit with the baby during trips and soothe when crying, to have room to feed on breaks, etc. We also travel a lot and needed more space for luggage, esp a double stroller.
We were in the market anyway for a second car at that time. We are really glad we bought a mini van because we soon after the third had the fourth, and now we're having our fifth I don't know what your family expansion plans are, but I am happy we went with a mini van. In the mini van, three seats can fit in the very back and probably in the middle row too, but if we fill the middle row then my other kids can't get into the back seat.
My husband has a Lexus and three car seats fit extremely tightly back there if you buy three narrow ones. We bought the Lexus with the car seats in mind if we HAD to put them back there. We didn't find TOO many cars that fit three in the back.
ETA, before you buy try to put your car seats in the back of the one you like to make sure they fit safely. We also did this and the salespeople didn't mind at all. Just measuring didn't seem to work that well.
Thanks! I think we are likely getting a mini-van But, it's early (I'm almost 9 weeks) so we have time to hunt, research, etc. We don't even have the third car seat yet
