Default Water broken or leaking? (TMI)

Is it possible to have my water break, or puncture, without me knowing or having any significant contractions?

During the night I noticed that my underwear is damp and yet I don't see any CM/discharge like I usually do. And as I (and the baby) have been resting/sleeping for the last 4 hours it seems unlikely to me to be urine leaks...

Yesterday I was more physically active than usual and when I got home it felt like I had strained a groin muscle. My back has also been aching and I've felt menstrual crampy for most night evening and night. I also had some braxton hicks contractions for a couple hours but nothing regular or seemingly progressive.

If no real contractions start when should I call my doc about the leaking?

I am sorry I missed this earlier!

That is how my labor started out this time with about five hours until actual time-able contractions started. In class they told us that it is possible for there to be a small tear and for it to repair itself, but from the sounds of it you are in early labor.

Good to hear but unfortunately its been 24+ hours since all the aches and stuff started and still no real contractions. Also I can't tell if there has been more leaking because I have to go to the toilet so often anyway.

This little lady is toying with me.

    Roxi,

Sounds like your little one does wants to have some fun teasing you! While I figure you have this answer already -- certainly you can leak slowly without you feeling contractions. Sure - sweating may occur at this stage... even in excess or particular parts of your body. There is also the possibility that you may have a wee bit (pun intended LOL) of incontinence despite being in a resting stage. More of those lovely issues that moms-to-be can deal with.

My thought though is all you have described -- the backache, cramping, leaks, 'braxton hicks', etc. -- all do sound like early labor stage. You can give the doc a call to give them a heads up but most likely they will advise as long as you're comfortable to stay home and relax as much as you can. As others have shared there is also a very simple test they can do to confirm that it is your water leaking vs. other causes.

If you have any of the warning signs mentioned in this article (below) then please call your doctor. Otherwise -- do consider this good news! While she seems to be happy playing games -- all of this IS actually helping things move along! My guess is within the next few days.

Still no progress since all the symptoms on Thursday night and Friday. Had another busy day today but hasn't seemed to trigger anything this time.
