What a brilliant idea!

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2015114/Motorists-face-prosecution-smoking-cars-children-inside.html

I smoke but not in my car, even when DD isn't we me. I don't see why people think this idea is so bad!

I remember sitting in my car at the local grocery store and there was a family, 3 kids in the back and 2 adults sat up front. Both adults were smoking and ALL windows were up!! I wanted to say something but obviously it wasn't my business too. So yea, I think this law is great.

I agree - great law. I'm not a smoker and the smell makes me sick :puke2: I love that they banned smoking indoors at public places here in my area.

However, I can see that people would think it was not the gov'ts place to say if they can smoke in their own cars.

Agreed.

While I appreciate what it's trying to do, I prefer the government stay out of my life as much as possible. It's kind of absurd how many laws they have regarding choices we make. And while I get the idea of the overall benefits they are hoping for, in the end, the people who will smoke in a car with children will also smoke in their home with children. So honestly, what is it helping in the long run?

It's law in Ontario (not sure about the rest of Canada... but definitely in Ontario) that you are not allowed to smoke with children under 16 in the car. I think it's been a couple years now since that was passed. How well do they enforce it? I have no clue... I'm sure it's like talking on the cell phone/etc. while driving... it's illegal, but you see it all the time so maybe unless something happens they don't pull them over? :dontknow:

I have no issue with it... I think it's a good thing. Just like it was a good thing when they banned smoking in all public buildings.

I agree. This law sounds great. I don't have a problem with people smoking, but don't trap your kids in the car with you and make them breathe it in too. JMO.

I suppose I never saw it as the gov't being all up in our business. At least it's trying to prevent something though.
