Baby Food

Jay is 7 months old and still eats very little food. He just isn't into it at all. I usually just give him a tablespoon or two of peaches or bananas in the a.m. along with some puffs throughout the day. He's crazy for the puffs...can't eat them fast enough! Should he be eating more at this stage? What are all the other little ones doing for food these days?

Every baby is different. I started Jax a little early (5.5m) because he would go spastic if he saw us eating. Once he started food, there was no holding him back, we were quickly up to 3 meals of solids a day. Abs pretty much followed suit with her brother. It only took her about 2 weeks to be demanding to be fed regular frequent meals and she spent only a couple of weeks on purees. By the time she was 6 months 3 weeks, she was feeding herself soft foods like overcooked green beans, carrots, potatoes etc. By 8 months she was eating pretty much everything we ate. She totally self feeds and has to be starving in order to allow us to assist her or be spoon fed.

Aidan didn't like much of his pureed foods, we pretty much had to go to over cooked and easily gummed food, I'd smoosh a pea on his tray and he'd eat , do the same with corn, he hated baby food.

we started jack right at 6 months...........first food was rice cereal mixed with breast milk.........2nd food was oatmeal cereal mixed with breastmilk.........still LOVES them both!!!!!!! then i slowly introduce a veggie and every three days alternated with a fruit.......
jack is on 3 meals a day and is a piggy.........
feeding schedule right now.........
wakes and nurses ...out of bed at 7am.........
breakfast 8am..........at least 1/4-1/3 cup of oatmeal cereal mixed with 3-4 ozs of breastmilk.......and a stage 2 fruit
nap
wake from nap and attempt to nurse...may nurse 5 minutes one side tops(little stinker)
lunch is usually around noon
starts with an apple wagon wheel thingy
stage 2 veggie and a stage 1 fruit (sometimes i do a stage 2 fruit/stage1 veggie....depends on what i'm stocking)
nap
wake from nap.....nurses ok here....sometimes
snack of fresh fruit in mesh feeder....and puffs......gobble both like he is ravenous
supper usually around 4:45
another huge bowl of rice cereal mixed with 3-4 ozs of breast milk
a stage 2 jar of a dinner........turkey/sweet potatoes are his fave!!!! but really the boy will eat anything.........
nurses before bed at around 6:30 (nurses good here)
nurses around 10pm nurses good here
sttn

he lets me spoon feed him just fine, and he is doing really well at self feeding.....he is still a little gaggy, so i am going a little slower with him.......but he has had toast, num nums(doesn't like them), puffs, cheerios, wagon wheels, some pasta...needs to be really over cooked, and i tried some greenbeans with him last night....gagged bad.......so puree's are fine for now.........but his favorite go to food is the cereal with breast milk!!!!!!! signs milk the whole time!!!!!!!! it's adorable!!!!

Everly is also 7 months old and I have the EXACT same issue. she just is not into it.. she will eat but not as much as I remember Owen eating.
I just saw the Dr yesterday.. they are not worried and said she will eventually get it and want more as her weight increases and her need increases.

She loves puffs
mesh feeder with frozen fruit (apple is her fav)

Siena loves putting stuff in her mouth but I don't think she actually eats a lot of it... Unless it's watermelon or toast.
She shoves noodles, peas, eggs, what have you into her mouth but it comes dribbling out.
I feed her pureed food and she only in the last month has started eating a lot of it. I just keep on trying.

G wouln't eat much of anything until he was 10 months old and grew teeth. Before a year solids is really just for fun and practice anyway. His main source of nutrition should still be bf/formula at this point.

what arty said. lol

micah LOVES food. i actually decided to start the boys a little early because brian seemed so interested - but micah is the one who has really taken off.

i'm not stressed about it at all - i just offer it and they'll get it eventually. Smile i also don't give them solids every day, just when i have time... but i figure we'll get more serious about it when they get a little older.
