Sorry, that post took me forever.

Candace, that is just aweful. Sad All those stories make me feel jumpy. Being from MI, tornados were few and far between. I bet since we've lived here, there have been at least 2 each year, no major wide spread damage, but enough to make me wish we had bought this one house that had a storm shelter built in it. Oh and that fb page is private.

Peg, you should be able to use those Shop-rite chips.

Tracy, I do not envy you one bit. Packing up a house and moving is still very fresh in my mind. I could not imagine doing it now with 2 children. (((Hugs))) Lady!!!

Em, I think because the Shop rite chips are dairy free, they are already loaded with shortening. And, the shortening doesn't make the chips harden, they will do that once they have been refridgerated, it just gives them that glossy 'candy looking coat' instead of that matte look that chips have.

AWESOME, if I do say so myself, lol!!

all the ones at michaels the other day had milk in them.....even the dark chocolate!!!!!

and on that note...even the soy cheese (:puke2:) at shoprite has Casein in it....make sense out of that

ooo...I forgot to comment on Colleen's cake too.......awesome...great job!!!1 I bet the girls loved it!!!!

Ruth - the foreclosures in this area are KILLING our house value. We bought our house 8 yrs ago, way before the big housing boom/crash. We pay extra toward the principle every month and we STILL owe more than it's worth. After 8 years! Basically, we've just been throwing $$ away all this time Sad it's awful. Our only hope is that since we are doing a traditional sale, that someone will jump on it instead of having to wait months like they would if they were buying a short sale.

So glad Micah is feeling better!

Lana is back to her happy smiley self again so I guess the ABs are working. I started her on a probiotic yesterday. I'm not sure of the best way to give it though. It's florastar for kids - a powder. I tried adding it to BM - she wouldn't take it. I've had some luck mixing it with a tiny bit of water and feeding her with a dropper. Is there any harm in that? I was just concerned bc I am basically giving it to her straight.

Em, are you going to post pics of Miles cake? I wanna see it.

Read back a bit...

**hugs** Tracy. I am sending good vibes to your dad and family.

Mel, can I be your daughter so you can buy me all those pretty dresses??? PLEASE? I promise to STTN.

Candace, I'm sorry about the devastation. Sad I feel so very lucky, all the time, that I live in a part of the world that gets very little major weather related damage.

Ruth, glad to hear Micah is feeling better. Smile

also, I've only lived here a year and a half, but I know my two next door neighbors well enough to borrow sugar. I am friendly with a handful of my other neighbors though. It's tough, cause in summer everyone's in their backyards, and in winter we all hibernate. lol. I swear the most socializing I do is when we're all shoveling our driveways. Lol

Violet's birthday party was yesterday. It was great! Just family and close friends here at home. I made insanely amazing cupcakes that were a hit. I'm not much of a cook, since I just don't care much, but these made me proud. Favourite gift: Rapunzel doll. Also, she got a wonderful parcel from her Uncle in Korea. Made me cry a bit.

A few more weeks and I throw a 1 year party for Fiona and Keith. Wink

Just for you Mel....I bought Grace a Janie and Jack sweater for next winter yesterday at the outlet mall. Can't go find the picture right now, but it is blue w/ a design on the front and then a white shirt w/ a girl ice skating on it. I know...terrible description on my part. Off to get Grace and myself dressed and then off to the beach.

Candace - I didn't read back, but I read about all the tornadoes in NC. Glad you are safe.

Jordan - woohoo for a fantastic birthday party.

Ruth, Landon is on the up thankfully! He has one more day of his oral steroid and honestly if he is still coughing at all I am going to to go back in. It is no where near as bad but when he does cough his chest is still full of crap! Guess we will see the next 2 days. Night and day difference from Friday though!

Received a letter in the mail to do another swallow study ..joy. I know it is needed to see if his simply thick continues or not. Just is not very easy to tell a toddler to sit in this overwhelming chair and THEN tell him to eat and drink.. riiighttt

Mel, OMG soooooooo cute!!!!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHH

random question of the day (AKA don't you wish Ruth had more friends so she'd stop bugging people here ): how many of your neighbors do you know? And by 'know' i mean know at least their first name and a few facts about them and might be comfortable enough with them to borrow a cup of sugar or something. just curious. Smile

bbl to catch up...

At our old house, we knew the neighbors to our left and across the street very well. They were both older couples. The neighbors to the right, across the field I didn't know at all. DH knew them from his job but that's it. The other neighbors kiddy-corner to the right and the house next to them (all the same family) we knew enough to say high and occasionaly stop and talk to when we were going for a walk or something like that.

At this new house, we have 2 neighbors across the street. One we know their name and wave to them, but wouldn't really borrow anything from them. the other across the street, DH is very friendly with and has borrowed things from and then the 2 neighbors to our left down the road, we stop and chat or they stop and chat all the time. The one we've known for a long time, he has helped us out a lot and the other is his mom.

Candace - I saw on the news that you all got hit really hard by tornadoes. So sorry to hear about your friends' houses. That's awful Sad

Neighbors - we know our neighbors directly across the street really well. They are about 25 years older than us and a little kooky, but all in all good people. We know our next door neighbors only well enough to wave hello and another man across the street well enough that HE has borrowed a cup of sugar before...and a potato. LOL.

Lana has been battling a cold for a couple of weeks now - it hasn't been too bad, she's just been really snotty. But the past few days, she has developed a cough and then this morning, she was running warm and was really, really fussy, which is not like her. I took her to the pedi - ear infection. She was screaming so bad in the pedi's office (he had to clean the wax build-up out of her ear), pleghm was flying out of her mouth. It was gross...and I felt so bad for her. Sad I just hope that this isn't a repeat of Tyler's non-stop EI's.

My parents came over tonight to watch the kids so DH and I could have a nice dinner out - it was our first time doing so since Lana was born. After we got home, they tell us they need to talk to us. My dad proceeds to tell me that he has prostate cancer and is having surgery. As upsetting as the 'c' word is, I know that many, many men get prostate cancer and caught early, it's totally treatable. THEN he goes to to say that they also found tiny spots in his lungs. That took my breath away. My dad just quit smoking after 53 years last month (now I know why!). My parents assured me that the spots are so small that his dr can't even biopsy them...and can only re-check in 6 months. They kept telling me he was fine...I just sat there and cried. Spots on your lungs are never a good thing, IMO. The timing couldn't be any worse with DH and I leaving in a few weeks Sad

:bigarmhug: I'm so sorry.

This one......

But, I had been hawking ebay forever and I also got this dress

And don't ask me why, I think because I was afraid I would find a dress and no ruffles and this auction was ending so I snagged them. Stupid move, cuz now I don't need them and I'm not going to look for a dress to go with them, although they might work with the dress we already have.

Plus, I scored this adorable set for $7.50 ROFL Cuz it was cute and it was ending in 2min and I couldn't let someone steal it for 5.50

LOVE them!! So glad you finally got your MJ fix! Smile

thanks in advance!!!! Smile

You can also add some parafin wax to the chocolate to help it set up better.

Candace, I finally saw some news coverage of your area. Lady, so glad to know you are ok. How did Caddy Maes party go?

Jax's allergies have flared up in a major way. We had a beautiful day here yesterday and we were all outside all day long. Jax is just miserable. He was up last night from 1:15 to 4:30. INSANE, I tell you. Needless to say he isn't going to school today.

Hey, do you guys remember this dress?

It came in the mail Sat and this picture does not do it justice. Holy Cow Cute Dress!!! It is beautiful, the colors are all washed out in the pic. I'm making an Easter wardrobe change. Abigail is wearing this dress for Easter. I'm going to my bff's to look through her bow box, hopefully she won't have to make me something. LOL

Love that one too!! Can't wait to see it on her!

Last night was miserable. I went to bed at 10:30 and Ethan cried from 11pm when DH went to bed until 3am when he finally blew out his diaper. I got him changed and rocked him for a bit. Then finally got back to bed at 4am to be woken up for the day at 5:30. *yawn* I'm so tired.

And then there's snow on the ground, roads were so slippery. But soccer practice got cancelled (yay!) so I can veg out tonight when I get home.

lol. Smile He wrapped everything in pretty paper with ribbons and confetti. He addressed it to Princess Violet. This is a guy who is basically a drifter. He goes all over the world working different jobs. He loves it. Right now he's teaching elementary school in Korea. We wont see him for another year and a half. He's very smooth with the ladies and hasn't much been 'into' kids til he got this job. lol. So we think that has something to do with his thoughtfulness. lol.

In the box there was a dress up set, a magic wand, a drum, a Hello Kitty doll, Hello Kitty pastels and a GIANT bow. This bow is something that the little girls all wear to special occasions over there. Like as a serious accessory. Here's a pic:

Love the cake Emily!

Colleen, that seems crazy to me that she has a game on a monday morning, even if it is spring break. What about the parents that work?

Oh yeah, I was going to comment on the housing thing. Our old house (that we still own and are renting out now) lost 1/3 of it's value between 2007 and 2010. So sad. And the house we're in now appraised for 60,000 more than what we got it for at auction. It's all just so crazy.

Jordan, that bow is adorable! I can't believe they actually wear it seriously over there though. lol And how sweet of your brother!

Peggy, my grocery store has parafin wax in the canning area. It comes in blocks that you will want to shave into the chocolate chips while you're melting them. I think about a half a block per bag (it's been awhile since I've used it though so I might be wrong on the amount).

That just seems weird to me. Around here, everything is usually shut down for spring break since so many people go out of town. Practices usually still happen but with the understanding that a lot of people will be out of town.

it's a short season when you get into highschool......they have to play over vacation because seniors are only in school through the end of may.....you'll see things are very different at high school level......so softball goes from the first of april- last week of may...seniors last week.........the girls were warned, that if they couldn't make it to games or practices during vacation......don't try out!!!!

Jordan, OhMyGoodness, what a great uncle.

Colleen, it has to be New England. LOL Although, I'm sure other places are like you, but both MI and KY school systems shut down completely, no games, but coaches may call for practice knowing that 98% of the kids won't be in town.

See, I know there was more, must go check and see what I've actually posted and what I've just typed and lost. Sad

Oh yeah, the housing market crap. We moved just as the market in MI was crashing. Just 9 months prior to that, Late fall of 05, our house was appraised. Rick sold his business in June of 06, made the decision to take this job down here. He moved down here in Aug, I followed in Sept. Our house didn't sell until May of 07, so 8 months later. It sold for 40,000 less than it was appraised for, we were very lucky, the mortgage was paid off and was still able to sell it $8,000 over what we paid.
