still trying to catch up. oy. unexpected morning, too.

but just had to tell someone... i often play music on youtube through my laptop, and the other night we were listening to some of Handel's Fireworks Suite. The video I pulled up was from the British Proms a few years ago, and there was a fireworks display as part of it. Anyway, Noelle was in the dining room a few minutes ago eating lunch and I decided to put the Handel on again so we could listen while she ate. I didn't say anything about what I was putting on, just that I was going to put some music on (she couldn't see the laptop). As soon as the opening notes played, Noelle said, "I want to see the fireworks again!" I can't believe she recognized the music after hearing it just once. I'm breeding a music nerd.

FWIW, the fireworks are kinda neat and Noelle has asked to see it more than once. If anyone wants to watch, the fireworks part starts about 7.5 minutes into it...

Hey Kerri. I meant to comment on Belle's scores. Those scores are AWESOME, not just good or so-so, because average on these tests means that she is right where she should be for her age developmentally. Did they explain to you what the scores meant and that average is actually a range of +/- 15 from 100? It's also very good that they are all in the same range, and she didn't score all over the board.
Just to give you a comparison, Jax's expressive language scores were all around 74 placing him in the 4th percentile. His acrticulation score was 99 percentile.

Daphne is in that phase of constantly trying to eat my face. It's sad that I never wrote down when Colby did that, but I don't think he did it this early. I just love it, it's so funny, big open mouth honing in on my face, even better when she puts her hands on my cheeks and comes in for the open mouthed smooch, lol!

So cute, love it!! Micah doesn't do that, but Brian does. Biggrin

I'm about to go crazy with Ella. She spits EVERYTHING out of her mouth/throws it on the floor - but not in a defiant way...sometimes she just starts gagging.

Ruth, how long did Ruth of food aversions? Oh, and I meant to ask - I know you said she didn't eat a whole lot (quantity) of your Fresh 20 meals, but does she eat a little bit...open to trying new things?

she's still a little hit or miss with new foods... but if she's hungry enough, she's much more open to trying new things. it really is a function of her hunger level and her mood. speaking of, i've been meaning to ask if anyone's kids here eat salad?

Julie, I'll bb with probiotic talk, but yes, there can be "too much" - not sure how it would manifest itself behavior-wise.

really? my DH has been eating homemade yogurt and taking a probiotic every day. how would you know if it's too much??

"StateChick" wrote:

Julie, I'll have to ask Joy (blog author below) for some references on the topic - I'm not sure that "too much probiotic" is the right phrasing there - rather, there can be too much or too little of a gut flora - but there is good gut flora and bad gut flora. It can be tested for, but it is expensive (not sure how much, that is just what she said). [ --

ANYWAY - check out this blog post:
http://fpiesmudpies.blogspot.com/2011/05/stool-studies.html
As it relates to FPIES, "too much" or "not enough" of the appropriate gut flora may mimic a reaction - because a reaction throws the gut flora off. So in FPIES kids, it may make them more lethargic, more diarrhea (or constipation), possibly fever....behaviorly, probably more clingy and needy and whiny or potentially super hyper. As it relates to the general population, I have no idea what it looks like, or if it is the same. Does any of this make sense?

And an aside. I created the COME EAT FOR SAM stuff on her blog. THey are having an FPIES fundraiser this weekend for anybody near Brooks, Minnesota!

eta: I know I link to her blog a lot, but this woman is a WEALTH of knowledge and information, not just on FPIES, but on gut health in general!

i'll check it out, thanks!

So stupid...I asked DH to bathe Colby this morning, and he did...hasn't been able to work what has been 14 hour days doing 2 jobs because of the rain...took advantage of him being home, lol! So slowly all day Colby keeps getting rashes, says he's itchy, etc. I finally say I'm calling the pedi, it's got to be the abx, even though he didn't have a reaction before. I keep asking DH about what lotion he used, etc. Nothing. So talk to him when he's at work, say I'm making the dreaded Friday pedi appt. He says well I wonder if it was the bubbles he dumped in the bath?? Not bubble bath, but the bubbles that come with the want. Um, yes. Probably, thanks for remembering that, why did you let him dump them in? He wanted to. Okey dokey then. Bathed him again just a bit ago, rash is all gone everywhere and he says he's no longer itchy. Also had to wash the tub that I just washed yesterday before he got in. Yeah, MEN!!

what's the latest with the rash? and for the record, my DH totally does stuff like that all the time. MEN  is right.

3. Saw a little boy dressed head to toe in Boden.

Thanks Mel. I've now because WAAAY to aware of kids clothes, lol.

ROFL same here. lol about a month ago or so, i went to a consignment sale with a friend and was making comments about the prices and different brands and she was like, 'i know nothing about children's clothing brands - they're all the same to me.' yep, i used to be like that, too, and also about sizing... i was so ignorant esp when noelle was first born. i took the 0-3 month sizing literally and brought a 0-3 sleeper to the hospital for her to come home in and it didn't fit her properly until she was closer to 4 months. lol

I said "Because those little boys have on 2 of my favorite Boden and I've never seen anyone else in the city with Boden on." He rolled his eyes. Well ladies, I set my alarm and got up early today, before my kids, got a shower and had some quiet time for me to do my bible study for today. I have a feeling that today is going to be a great day!!!
I get to go to my Passion party tonight  Right after I pick up Adam from the airport!! Yes!!!! HE'S COMING HOME TODAY!!!!! I'm so excited!! Funny thing though, right after I pick him up, we go our separate ways for the evening Sad But It'll be good tonight once we get together
I am very awake and in a really good mood. I think I need to START my day off with a shower every day - most people do this - lol me however, it seems to be a luxury that I don't always get Lol

First of all, Yahoo for Adam coming home TODAY!!!!! I'm so happy for you.

Yes, I hear that showers are a luxury for moms and I have to say I think I'd rather go without sleep than miss my shower. It'd be harder to get out of bed in the morning (especially during the winter) if I didn't know I was about to step into a nice hot shower.

I can't quote from the CS thread so it's cut and paste, it's Ruth's response to Vera LOL

ROFL Wow. Those were the days. I remember feeling like that. Now I'm happy if I get a shower 3 times a week. And unless I have to be somewhere and look presentable - or clean, at least lol - I choose sleep EVERY TIME. I just didn't know what sleep deprivation was back then. lol

Colby, so sorry about all the pink eye! Oops, I mean to say, JULIE, sorry about the pink eye!! lol

Allie, yay for sleep! And that pic of William is absolutely precious!!!!! That's a framer, for sure.

Colleen, LOVE the new siggy pics!! Biggrin

Shannon, I agree with the others, and I'm just so sorry you're having all these issues. I hope you can get to the bottom of it all soon. Several women in my family have endo and it can be excruciatingly painful.. :bigarmhug: Also, something you wrote reminded me of something my mom went through several years ago. She also had one week a month where she felt pretty good, otherwise she felt awful. Then she just felt awful all the time. She switched doctors and somehow they discovered that she had a yeast infection in her intestines. Apparently it's really rare, but once she was treated for it, she said she felt 100% better. I hope you get some good news soon.

OK, that's the catch-up from yesterday. And now for today.......

Dern Ruth, that was an awesome multiquote!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Colby's rash did come back this morning, got a new rx for zithromax, which I friggin wanted in the FIRST PLACE, lol! So the doc said just assume he's got some allergy to Omnicef and like abx and be done with that family of them.

LOVE the video! That's so awesome, although not surprising in the least, that Noelle listened once and remembered! I've always wondered how music prodigies start....do you just give them an instrument and let them go, do you gently coach?? It's all very interesting to me, especially the savants who can listen to a brand new composition one time and repeat it note for note.

Candace, may the clean be with you! Or the Fairy stop by!!! Smile

Mel I meant to say earlier how brilliant Jax was to move the basket to the fridge...we have the same type fridge, Colby can open the doors but has yet to figure out he just needs something to stand on, lol! Go Jax! But not often because you can't get in the fridge like that, lol!

OMG Daphne does nooooooooooooooot want to nap silly girl! K, let's try this again baby girl!

Jules, Abs didn't want to nap either. I put my foot down and demanded. *read she got put in the swing*

So, I determined my camera was taking crappy pics because the lens was FILTHY. And in the process of cleaning it up, I realized my camera has a manual mode????? Never knew that. LOL

So here's a pic of yesterday and a pic of her sleeping in the swing after the lens cleaning and in manual mode. Do you guys see a difference?

lol Huge difference Mel!

Great pics Colleen!! The mud looks like fun. Smile

We had a mud adventure yesterday (not by choice!). Ethan decided to venture into the garden. It's all fenced in and he made it all the way to the other side and then fell face down. I went to get him and I fell too. The mud sucked my foot right in. So I yelled for DH to come get Ethan and then waded through the mud myself. Then we both got hosed off outside. Fun times.

Yeah the swing has been my crutch for a long time, but I'm trying to break her of it! 4.5 months and 17lbs, it's not going to be too much longer before she reaches that 22lb limit and I'm SOL, lol! Although I have to check, it might be 25lbs!

Totally see the difference in the pics! What a sweet baby girl!!!

Colleen love the pics!!! Abby is soooooo cute, love them curls, she is such a tall girl! That pic of her and Lucy made me chuckle and think about the friend freaking out about the dirt at the zoo, lol!! And as always Jack is just a happy sweet boy!!!

Oh my goodness Karrie about the mud!!!!! Holy jeez!!! I know just the kind of mud you are talking about and it's sooooo hard to get out of it and is such a huge mess! Aw man, poor Ethan and Momma!!! Did Ethan at least have fun getting cleaned up outside?

Colleen, Love your new siggy of all your beautiful children! And what great pics! I love seeing pics of your family, everyone always looks so happy!

Mel, LOVE the pics! And the dialog that went along with it.

Cristina, Karina is such a little doll! I love the pic of her chasing the duck.

Ruth, what a smart lil cookie! It does not surprise me in the least that she could recognize the music like that though. She gets it honestly!

Kelly, omg Everly looks ADORABLE in her snow white outfit! And how sweet of Owen to make your sister a card.

Candace, I have been meaning to tell you that I love your new siggy too! We need some Friday pics of your cuties too.

Okay, I find this hilarious....so a group of of friends is going to this zoo park this morning, and it's rained a LOT recently, super muddy and yuck out although it's sunny now. The one Mom said she decided not to go because she didn't want her daughter to get dirty. So a few folks said just put her in rain boots and dress her in brown. Okay, that was kinda funny. Then she says she'll go, but she's going to put a gallon of water in the car to clean her up, "sanitizing" wipes, a few changes of clothes and just hope for the best, but she was really worried at how dirty her daughter was going to get. Then someone said they'll bring a bottle of wine so she can calm down and just accept the fact that kids WILL get dirty and it IS okay, lol! Ahhhhhhhh, good stuff!!

This makes me laugh too. I rarely hesitate to let my kids get muddy, they just love it so much. Smile I guess this is why I refuse to spend a lot of money on clothes to begin with!

Ugh, pink eye. Tia just had that a few days ago. I hope none of us get it, you can bet your rear that I'll use her drops again though!

"gottharf" wrote:

craaaaaaaaaaap, just sat down to start a marathon post and noelle is starting to wake up. booo. she went to bed waaaaay too late to be getting up this early. Sad

ok, i'll be back later with lots to say about yesterday. figures you guys would save all the interesting convos for when i'm gone. :neener:

still haven't gotten 6 hours of sleep yet. Sad poor DH, he really tried so hard. it wasn't too bad, though - micah usually gets up just once a night now, so i nursed him at 4:30am because i was so engorged, and then i nursed brian at 6am because i had missed so many feedings at that point i couldn't sleep. dude, that kid must take in half of his daily calories at night. i knew i would be engorged, but i had no idea it would be that bad!! but aside from actually getting up those two times, i did wake up every time someone woke up, but was able to get back to sleep relatively quickly and DH was a rock star and i got to sleep in! Biggrin

Other than that, the day was a bit of a bummer because it rained ALL DAY LONG. it would have been one thing if it had been in the forecast, but i checked every day this week and it was supposed to be sunny and 72 - beautiful, right? then they changed the forecast yesterday morning to be cloudy and 72, but only 10% chance of rain. i checked again at 10am before we left the house... still just 10% chance of rain. Then within 10 minutes the heavens opened and it didn't stop until after 7pm last night. I could see them maybe missing a passing shower or something, but how could they not see that it was going to rain all bloody day long???? i've never been mad at the weather people before, but i actually had to fight back some pissed off feelings yesterday about it - just because i would have planned things differently if i had known it was going to rain. oh well.

the only other bummer is that my DH wasn't feeling that great. we're hoping and praying he just got the little bug that Noelle and Brian (and possibly Micah?) have had recently (we had to stay home from church wednesday night because brian had a really, really bad spit-up/vomit and then had one bout of diarrhea. anyway, DH got the runs, but with his 'condition' i just worry that it's more than that, you know? Sad it's a big bummer, esp because he said 2 days ago that he had just had his first totally normal BM in more than 3 months. yes, we talk about poop a lot in this house. lol

aside from that (and a major tantrum noelle threw later in the day), it was a nice day. we ended up going to a park that we wouldn't normally drive to and it was totally deserted, so i got to nurse both boys while i sat on a bench and didn't feel self-conscious at all for once, and they both nursed really well and didn't play their usually pop on/off game, so i could watch DH and noelle play. there were some birds chirping really loudly with a pretty song and that was probably the highlight of the day.

and then i was up for about 5 hours last night. Sad micah nursed probably 10 times - he just wouldn't settle down, from like midnight to 5am - not sure what was going on, but he and brian kept waking each other up. i am so tired.

ok, DH didn't make coffee this morning because our dishwasher didn't run for some reason last night so there's no coffee. i might just pack up all the kids and go get some. DH has some chickory blend right now and i don't want to mess with trying to make some here.

sorry for the ramble, can you tell i'm tired? lol next up, biggest multi-quote ever. lol

So sorry about all the rain, what a bummer! I'm glad you got a lot of sleep though (more than usual, at least). I just can't even imagine what you're going through with the sleep deprivation. I hope you found coffee too, I just can't imagine life without it at this point.

Yes! I really, really hope so too.

Nope, and no presents, either... BUT my DH cleaned the house and did his best to give me some sleep and kid-free time and make the day nice. He and Noelle baked cookies Tuesday night and he said he wants to make a cake... we'll see if it happens. Smile And about 100 people wished me a happy birthday on FB - I feel loved. Biggrin He offered to watch the kids while I went to get a pedi or something, but I told him that someday all the greys in my hair are going to start winning that battle and I'm going to want to dye my hair, so we'll just save our money until then. lol

Julie, LOVE the pics of the shades and Daphne sitting up!! I can't believe she's sitting already! Neither Brian nor Micah are yet. Brian is getting close, but Micah really resists it - I think all his belly rolls get squished when he sits and he doesn't like it. ROFL

Kelly, LOVE the pics! Everly is more beautiful than the 'real' Snow White!!!

Mel, the pics of Jax and Abs with the fridge are AWESOME!!! Sooo funny. I also meant to say the other day that it is truly amazing to me how empathic Jax is. Having spent a fair amount of time with 3 year olds, that is VERY rare. He's a special little boy. :biglove:

ROFL conductors like to have 'conducting hair' that moves around when they are conducting - adds to the drama. lol

here's Herbert von Karajon - you've prob never heard of him, but he's one of the most respected conductors from the past 50 years or so.

But here's some CRAZY hair. ROFL He's my favorite living pianist - Evgeny Kissin (pronounced KEY sin, in case you ever find yourself in a grocery store not sure how to pronounce it ) This piece is INSANE.. Insane. Just listen to the end if you don't want to listen to the whole thing. I'd never even attempt this piece, too hard, and he makes it look easy.

Well, there's your music ed lesson for the day. Biggrin

I think maybe Micah's got some intestinal issues and that's why he was up so much last night. Around 10am he had a poopy dipe, but it was just hard as a rock. Sad Poor thing, he's never had a dipe like that before. Not sure what made him constipated. He had oatmeal cereal for the first time a few days ago - maybe I didn't dilute it enough? It's hard to say for sure, but I really think BM is still at least 50% of his diet, probably more, so he really shouldn't be getting constipated, right? Hopefully it was just an isolated thing. I can't handle another night like last one. Sad

I was SO hoping to lay down, but I hear Brian stirring....

Fun times.

This is the funniest thing posted all week. ROFL Brrrr to getting hosed off outside.

LOL, I got lazy and left out the captions. Isn't that car cool? Pax got it as a gift for his birthday. He LOVES it! And that one of Tia with the burger. We were having a party at our house and she just randomly showed up with a burger in her hand. She swiped it off someone's plate, but we're not sure who's. ROFL She's just a little goofball, like her big brother. I need to get some video of her to share.

Wendy, I LOVE that first pic of you with the kids. You look great! As usual. Smile
So happy to see everybody posting pictures today.

Colleen, love the Max montage! What a boy! Bball on a pogo stick. Fun times!!

Julie, I meant to say earlier that I love the pics you posted this morning too - look at Miss Daphne sitting up like a big girl! I was glad to hear Ruth say that both of hers aren't sitting up yet, because Wade isn't either...I think he has the strength, he just throws himself backwards. Did Daphne ever nap for you?

The motor burned out on the FP cradele swing when Wade was about 5 mths and we pulled the old one down from the attic...he was not a fan!

And Mel, oh my, BIG difference in the pictures!! Love the sleeping pic, so sweet. And Cadence has the coordinating PnC outfit to the one Abs had on yesterday!

Emily (msmama) - where are Miles pics? And clearly the moms in his preschool class have good taste! ROFL

Karrie, did you have to strip down in the yard? ROFL Sorry about the mud! Can't wait for you to get home and upload pictures. Smile

Hi Emily! :wavehello: I expect to see some pics of your gang, too! HOw has your little spitfire (Gweny!) been behaving lately?

Well, I have some pics, but no time right now. Just realized that it has been almost exactly ONE YEAR since Ella's Failure to Thrive diagnosis and when she began the Neocate. I'll post before/after pics later. Just in the last day or so I think she has really started looking healthier to me (her ribs are finally NOT showing ) -

Gotta get C off the potty. Probably be much later tonight when I'm back.

Oh yeah, and Ruth, not sure how Al would know if he was getting too much probiotic? I'm sorry, I just know that it is a possibility...:dontknow:

I've always wondered how music prodigies start....do you just give them an instrument and let them go, do you gently coach?? It's all very interesting to me, especially the savants who can listen to a brand new composition one time and repeat it note for note.

Apparently Kissin was able to hum a Bach fugue when he was 11 months old, so it seems that prodigies start very, very young. As far as what to do with them, I think it's like butter sticking to bread - he was already playing and improvising on the piano at the age of 2. Noelle is drawn to the piano, too, but doesn't do anything special with it (yet). lol Gabriela Montero is another pianist with the very unusual ability to improvise incredibly well, and she says that music is just part of her. That said, there definitely has to be training of some kind, and lots and lots and lots of hard work. I'd bet anything Kissin spends at least 6-8 hours a day keeping a piano bench warm...

Mel, the pic of Abs sleeping in the swing is just so precious!! I love sleeping babies. How did you clean your lens? (just make sure you don't do it too often!!)

Oh no!!! That would have been so funny to see, even though I'm sure it wasn't fun at all to clean up.

Yay, Wendy popped in!!! Biggrin Great pics!!!! I didn't even recognize Tia, that's how long it's been since I saw her. She's getting so big! I hope you're feeling better.

This is both Brian and Micah to a T. I think they're both capable and uninterested. Brian would rather roll around everywhere and do his sneaky crawling and Micah would rather lay on his back. Actually, Micah would just MUCH prefer to be held 24/7. I'm glad they're not the only ones! Their pedi said he'd like them to be able to sit by 9 months, so we have almost 2 months left before their 'deadline.' lol Not sure what will happen if they don't do it - get written up? lol

Mmm, cookies! What kind did he make?

Lana started sitting on her own this week too - Tyler took one look at her and said, "her looks like a baby monkey!" LOL - nice. She'll straighten up eventually. She's been up 2-3x a night for the past few nights. Growth spurt maybe?

OMG Colleen - those pics were the cutest ever! I can't believe how big he's gotten! I'm loving his hair! And that smile...

Peg - glad you survived the train Wink enjoy your time with Mickey!

I am in desperate need of daily activities for Tyler. Working from home full time and staying home with the kids is HARD. I'm starting to feel like I'm not cut out for this SAHM stuff Sad it's been raining all week and I just don't have anything for him to do. He gets bored and then acts out. I need ideas! Stuff that will engage him inside...?

Lana is done nursing...heading back to bed and hoping she stays for a few hours!

Give the sahm thing a chance. Prob just gonna take some adjustment. And you can remind me of that later.

Oh and Tracy I think it is hard to come up with activities....especially when it's raining! Lots of craft junk here, cutting, gluing...mixed up play doh lol...games like candyland, "jobs" for Colby...giving him all the silverware and saying I need them "polished"...spray bottle with water and squeegee and say the windows need to be washed...it's never-ending though, interest is only held for a small amount of time before a new activity is needed!

Things are going ok - I think it would be easier if we were in our own place already. But we haven't even had a chance to look yet! Right now, I'm still trying to find the balance between working full time and staying with the kids. I think either/or would have been a smarter choice. Thinking I can do both may have been a crazy decision - bc I feel so much pressure all the time. To be putting time toward work, time toward kids. I know once we settle into a routine that works, it will be better. The $$ is nice plus I like the extra time with the kids. Just need to find a new balance, right?

Tracy, I didn't realize you were still working full time from home! I don't really have any tips for you, as I barely make it through my day as it is.

I didn't really get cleaned up yesterday. DH must have taken Cadence somewhere this morning because they're not here. I was up at 2:30am when she wet the bed and at 5:30-7:30am with Wade, but then back to bed until 9:15ish Yahoo

Going to meet a friend for brunch or lunch today - she's gonna call in a few. I haven't talked to her since a little after Wade was born, but she's called me three times this week! She's in town today.

Kerri, cute pics! Will watch the videos when my house is awake. Smile

Colleen, fun times with Danny! Maybe dh and I will get out and about sometime soon.

Have fun at your bbq, Jordan.

And Peg and Kelly, have fun at DISNEY!

Julie, I think the thread on the main board is an awesome idea so we don't miss anybody! How is Colby's rash today?

Supposed to be near 90 and in the mid 90s the week here. I hate weather this hot. Sad

Have a good day everybody! I might also try to get in the attic to find Cadence's old clothes in Ella's size...wish me luck! Smile

OhMy That is a pic!!! Too bad he didn't get it with your real camera. That is frame-able!!!

Now the first bolded. Just last week, Abigail completed transposing Beethoven's Symphony 5 from C- into a G major. It is just aweful, but transposing a written piece just under a year old was impressive.

About the lens cleaning. I used spit and my T-shirt. It was smothered in Jax fingerprints. I remember now, that a few months ago while I was video-ing him and his sister, I told him several times not to touch it.

A BBQ sounds like fun. Have you thought about making that trip with Allie????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

So, DH took Jax to church. They are spreading playground mulch this morning. Abigail is sleeping. I'm left here on the verge of an anxiety attack I've been fighting off for a couple days now. I have so much to do for this trip next week. And I won't get off my butt and do it, I just sit here and think about all that needs to be done. So, the heart palpitations start and the shortness of breath.......I'm determined to put a big dent in it today so I can just calm the hell down.
