I'm sure cuz the trucks have these hydro forklifts that slide under the lid of the bin and lift it up and dump it in the truck. The driver doesn't get out of the truck. He kept getting back in and you could here the hydro motor whirring away but nothing would happen. ROFL

Colleen.. I know you have a load of muffins so maybe in a bread form but I make chocolate chip zucchini bread and it's quite good

Zucchini fries

have you ever done hollowed out zucchini boats filled with cheese and chicken and whatever you have on hand.. hang on I will find a image for you.. the image alone made me try them!

My sister is taking Owen for a one on one day today... to a pool for swimming (I do not think she knows what she is in for LOL) and frozen yogurt and lunch..
I am going to take E to costco and get some meatage (I buy chicken there)

Allie DYING to see the outcome!

Did I mention DH took tomorrow off to go to Marine World Six Flags Smile Owen is into killer whales for some reason and so we are crossing this off the summer list and taking him to the amusement park.. it's like any park except this has animal flare to it.. killer whales, dolphins etc... should be awesome.. long day though we have to drive over and hour to get there and all day in and drive home. Dirol our weather has been mild here (sorry girls!) low 80 or high 70's so should be perfect!

I love when DH takes random days off.. he is such a good dad.

OOO have fun.

AWESOME news!!!!!!!! i know it's not ideal, but it's something!

we got our DSLR from a local photographer and have been really happy with it.

ugh, that sucks. Sad 3 more days, right??

is she the one who turned in your status to that site? i don't think we ever heard the full story and i'm so curious! lol

N is in an extendable bed. we actually just lengthened it 2 days ago, and it will be a twin when it's all said and done. of course that will last her through high school! what do you guys think people sleep on in college dorms? TWINS! Smile i guess the really tall people just curl up... but i took naps on a twin with DH before we got married so it's not like one person can't fit, even a tall one. lol

aww, thands for asking. hemmie is Sooo much bwetter. yay. and the stain faded significantly, but still there a little. he wants to try the oxi soak again, but i'm afraid of bleaching his pants...

awsome haul, Candace!!

so our neighbor across the street is a really sweet old lady... gives N old books and little gifts at holidays, etc. i knocked on her door yesterday, but no answer. called her this morning and left a message. her car is in the driveway, today's paper on the lawn, didn't take her trash cans down. i spoke with her next door neighbor who said he saw her DD's car there in the past few days... i saw it, too, so maybe she's out of town, i hope. i did open her mail slot and didn't see or hear her dog. not sure how long i should wait before doing something else... although not sure what to do next? ideas?

ok, i'm typing onehanded and my arm is starting to ache. lol

Oh no. I hope she is ok. If there is still nothing tomorrow I would consider finding out if she is ok.

I couldn't help it, I had no idea it would freak him out that bad.

Aww. Poor Jax. Whoda thunk.

fly by post - hoping for some advice. Lana had her 9-month well baby check today (we somehow have gotten a few weeks ahead of schedule ). Anyway, she's doing well - 75th percentile for weight, >97% for height (DH is 6'4", I shouldn't be surprised!). I mentioned to the doc that she doesn't seem to put a lot of weight on her left foot when we stand her up - after her old' pedi's concern about her having hip displasia, it makes me paranoid. He checked her out and said that her left leg is noticeably shorter than her right leg. He is having her checked out for hip displasia again, just in case. But he doesn't think that's what it is...he mentioned her having to wear lifts in her shoes when she starts walking. Does anyone have any experiece with anything like this? It's been an upsetting morning.

I haven't liked this pedi from the start. I wanted to - I really did. He came very highly recommended by several people. Today was our 2nd visit with him - I decided to ignore my gut and try him again. Dumb. I still don't like him. I don't know what it is, but he just doesn't sit well with me. Today made me realize I should always go with my gut:

1. He ordered an u/s to check her hips. At her age, u/s are not effective diagnostic tools - an x-ray is better. I knew that from my research the first time she had it done - the lab confirmed that today when I called to make the appointment. They were like what?? Why an u/s?? I called the doc back...and he changed his mind.

2. His staff screwed up 3 times this morning ALONE. They gave me a lab form for a place that doesn't do what I needed them to do. They marked x-ray when he had ordered u/s. Then when the x-ray was determined to be needed, they didn't bother correcting the form - just told me to do it and have the lab call "if there were any problems".

3. He and I do not share beliefs regarding BF'ing...or really feeding in general. He basically told me that I should have her down to 2x a day by this point - that she needs to be on table foods (eggs, cheese, fish, whole milk specifically). I recognize that she is getting to be the age where table foods will come into play, but she's only 8 months old. He's saying she needs to be done BF'ing by a year old and that I should start cutting back now. Yeah, I think I'll continue to nurse for a while longer, thanks, as she demands. It's not for everyone and I'm sure people do things differently, but I'll do what feels right/works for us. Tyler was on bottles til he was 17mo - what's the difference?

Anyway, it's been a rough morning. I'm upset about what her leg length disproportion means. I know that it's not the end of the world...and if she requires lifts in her shoes, that's what we'll do. But if anyone has any experience, I'd love to hear about it.

Sorry. I think if you dont like him you should keep looking for another pedi. It is important to have someone you can trust.

Learned how to make cupcakes today. Ya I am lame. Still dont think I can do it though. Kids are taking a late nap. I am in trouble.

Yes Julie, back in the day when Jax was throwing those fits left and right, Rick and I used to play rock paper scissors to see which one would go up. We figured it would be just as random as guessing which parent he wanted to see clearing the top of the stairs.

Um, I have a very bad habit of skimming longer posts towards the bottom. So I'll just admit that that is why I missed Ruth's comment about her neighbor.
If her duaghter's car was there, and the dog didn't bark when you checked the mail slot, then my best guess is she went somewhere with her daughter. Or her daughter dropped her at the airport. do you have a family contact number for her?

Kelly, I would get the same emails from felix.

I feel like a bad mama again. I was at my friends house (learning to make cupcakes) and discovered that I stink. Not only is her DD that is 2 days older than Sofia out talking both Sofia and Joshua, but she is like susie homemaker. She was doing all this baking. She goes to school and works. She tells me she is starting a buisness. She will be making hairbows for girls, dresses, diaper cakes, assorted baked good arrangments and who knows whatelse. She was showing me somethings she made with the kiddos and talked to me about how she was doing learning lessons with her son who is 9 months older that Josh. I feel really crappy to say the least. Yay so my depressed thread I made a couple months ago.... lets just say I am feeling worse than that. I realized today that as happy as I am that Sofia has started talking, she is nowhere near her age level. My friends DD was talking very advanced and I dont expect her to be there, but really she is nowhere close. DH thinks that it is still because she is learing two languages. I am going to try and not worry or be impatiant, but if she reachs her 3 year check up and is still behind I think I am going to get her evaluated too.
Ok going to go drown my sorrows and diappointments in myself in a cupcake with tons of frosting.

Awwww Kat. :bigarmhug: It's REALLY hard to not compare your kids to other, really hard. Especially when one is what you think as 'ahead' of yours...but you know what, maybe her kids are advanced, doesn't mean anything's wrong with Sofia and her talking right now. But I do understand the concerns, once one child has a delay, it's hard to not have it in the forefront of your mind. And girl, please. Don't let the Super Mom's get to you....really. I think it's great if someone can 'do it all' and be HAPPY doing it....but don;t let that be what you have to do.

Kat, :bighug:

If it makes you feel any better, Ella pronounces VERY FEW words correctly. Like, mommy, daddy, eat, sissy, bow, ba ba - I am not sure if there are any other words that she says correctly - not cat, dog, cow, shoe and juice sound the same, she uses the same word for paci and blankie (sound more like pafi)....

I've been meaning to ask our speech experts here...It seems like she commonly has trouble with the beginning and ending syllables of words...she'll get the middle ones in there...is that her age?

Anyway, Kat, I know she and Sofia are around the same age...just didn't want you to feel too bad...and it is NOT.YOUR.FAULT anyway!

And I totally thought you were gonna say that your friend told you that you smelled bad (because you wrote you stink!). Wink

You are a great mommy!

Now that I reread my post I am realizing how that sounded. Smelly ROFL I guess the fact that she has stopped using some of the words she was using is bothering me. Now she whines and cries more insead of talking. Not that she was talking more before, but she did have about 35 words and want speaking in sentences yet. I just dont want to have to deal with the stuff that I had to with Joshua all over again. I'll give her time though. I do need to work with them both a little more. That is one of the things that is bothering me since I got back from my friends. I do realize I am not working with them enough at all. I am just so tired the days I do not work 16 hours cause I did the day before. I need to pull through it and make time to sit with them and do speech type things. Sorry to rambling on to you guys. I guess I just need to get it out and written to make myself realize what I need to change.

Candace- sorry about the last time feeding and pumping. I am so happy for you that he is taking to the soy formula though. Your blog is also very moving and I am glad you are writting it.

I have 2 projects I am going to attempt

Pantry redo .. example below.. the contact paper I will but will not be this drab.. I am thinking a moss green and white design. We'll see what HD has on hand.. possible order online if it all sucks.
paint shelves white
organize and make it look awesome

Second is front door redo.. I want to paint it back , new hardware and a new mat and I really want a potted topiary tree of some sort.

I am planning on Sunday for one of these... at least start Sunday. DH is taking Owen to a baseball game and I can put E in her saucer and put on some music and get it done.

So what one?
both will be well documented with before and afters..

Kat don't be so hard on yourself!!! They are still really young, no ones heading to Yale just yet!

Kel no one will really see the pantry, I'd do the door. I went from white to red on my front door, and it was a HUGE improvement! I love front door areas with greenery, plants, flowers, so I think the topiary would be great!

Colleen- saw the vid of your kids playing, great way to clean and keep them occupied! Sorry about Danny- maybe you are just becoming more used to him being sick and it doesn't alarm you as quickly. I do hope you find some answers and don't have to return to work just yet!

Candace- :bigarmhug: on the last pumping session. Goodbyes of any kind can be so hard!
And LOL on your comment about walking around braless!

Mel- ha, maybe it was karma the truck broke down in front of your house!

Kat- :bigarmhug: You are really overworked right now trying to make ends meet, try not to be so hard on yourself. I don't know if you were here when I visited Peg once and I visited w Hilda's Alanis. I felt SO BADLY after those visits. Both Alyssa and Alanis were so much more advanced than Karina, I was alarmed. Plus her shyness overtook her so no one could see how much she did talk when it's just us alone. Since then, Karina's speech has taken off and she never stops. Also, it doesn't take much time to do a little lesson-- even just 10 minutes a day---we have workbooks and Karina LOVES them. We got them from Target.

Kel- can't wait to see before and afters of the door or pantry!

Peg- are you TTC?

Aw sorry Sarah's team lost Colleen!! Did Danny say 'fixing' his ears helped at all???

Cristina I'd like to know the workbooks as well!!! We don't do much actual working on stuff, but would like to start soon!

I was going to say about that Kat it doesn't even have to be 'lessons' KWIM? We just do a lot of silly things that are teaching but not obvious....like here's the letter G, help me count all the G's on this page.....help me find all the things that begin with the same sound as "car"......just junk like that. How were the cupcakes!!!

Making macaroni salad now...well waiting for the water to boil to put the pasta in lol. While putting the water in the pot, I hear this crash, turn around, and Daphne has pulled the freakin play kitchen down on top of her, I guess from the way she tried to pull up on it. She wasn't hurt, but I can't figure out a way to keep it from falling over without bolting it to a wall...and I'm not doing that.

Julie- that is kinda what I ment by lessons. Nothing formal, just playing around while learning. That is scary about the kitchen falling over. I wonder what you could do?

Ok. Single shift today and I am determined to spend the day entertaining the kids when I get home. Of course, I am drawing a blank as to what we can do. Not starting out to good.

really???????? he didn't have fluid or even redness in his ears last time......i'm gonna call the doc tomorrow and chat with the nurse......i actually don't have a bad feeling about it this time.......which is weird, because when he called that first day and said he was dizzy, my brain instantly thought the worst!!!!!!!! LOL!!!!!

then he probably won't. I couldn't remember if you had said the last bout of vertigo was from an EI/fluid build-up, but I thought you were inferring this in your previous post. Am I remembering that really never got to the bottom of the cause of the vertigo but just treated it?

Julie, I can't believe how mobile Daphne is! Wade is like a slug...a big lazy slug. Wink Haha, he worms his way around the house, but absolutely no interest in pulling up, and he doesn't really care to stand when I try to stand him up. I guess that's why the doctor made the "slightly behind in gross motor skills" assessment. lol

So my mom thinks I should get my hair cut in anticipation of it falling out. On one hand I think that would be fun...but it is also kind of scary. Plus I don't think short styles look good on me. BUT I'm willing to try something new. My hair is really think and naturally wavy/curly...

Colleen that silly Jack lol!! How's the Mr. Walking Man doing! I wouldn't worry about her falling backwards, except it's on the hardwood floor she bonks her head!!!

Candace girl don't even worry about Wade...seriously Colby NEVER did ANY of this stuff this early, honestly I wouldn't mind if Daphne wasn't mobile at ALL!

Haircutting.....if you are down for trying something new, I bet it would look great! Why don't you like shorter styles on yourself, you've got a beautiful face that would look great with a short cut!

Morning Mel!

And I don't think they even treated Danny's EI...just sent him on his way!

Julie and Kat- I got the workbooks in Target in their children's section. One is a Kumon numbers workbook and the other is for letters, but I don't remember the brand. Just take a look. Karina loves hers so much. But then again, she's always liked drawing w pens/pencils. Her letters are getting a little better but it's still really tough for her to write them neatly.

Kat, I was going to say the same thing that Colleen said.

Candace, I had 2 clients that went through chemo and radiation. I agree with your mom. One client did a super duper short cut, the other opted for me to come to her house and buzz her. It wasn't quite so depressing to find little short hairs on the pillow and in the shower as it would have been to find long luxurious locks.

danny went to the doc.....he said it was more than likely an inner ear infection that would clear up on it's own........no meds, no nothing...just a wasted copay.........

and it did stop as fast as it started 14 days later........he had a month of no symptoms......and now they are back again!!!!!!

Kat, :bigarmhug: Don't feel bad at all! Ethan is just starting to say more words but not very clear at all. Like with Ella, juice and shoes sounds exactly the same and there's only a few words that everyone can understand.

Mel, lol about the garbage truck!

Colleen, I'm glad you had that cry and feel better now. :bigarmhug: What's up with Sarah not giving it her all?

Candace, I think cutting your hair is a great idea!!

But yet, he had no fluid and the eardrum wasn't red, so all the things that would indicate an inner ear infection, he didn't have? So, what was it that pointed the doc to believe it was an ear infection? Did he have an ear ache?

There have been some weird viruses going around here lately that have been nothing more then a bunch of dizzy spells and maybe a headache and slight sore throat... Several of my coworkers have had it, even ones son who temporarily lost his hearing in one ear! But.. is was not an ear infection, even though they were sure thats what it was.

Hope he feels better soon.

Candace, I think you would look great with a short cut! That way it kinda "falls out" in stages and isn't so much of a shock. You could even save your pony tail to think about some great hair color/etc, you could treat yourself to after you are finished with your treatment and your hair grows back Smile

ahhhhhh.........yes julie.....a hardwood floor could make a nice egg on her little melon......ugh...............
mr. walker is just hilarious to watch........still got the drunken sailor legs on!!!!!!!LOL!!!!!! but he walks more andmore now, and crawls way less!!!!!!!!!!

we have a ton of workbooks.........all different kinds.......none of the fancy schmancy ones that cost 5 bucks .........just the $1 ones for joblot.........LOL.....but if you play on the computer.... i also print out worksheets all.the.time..........there are a ton of free "homeschooling" sites all over the internet.......i've posted all the links before.......and there all great websites that are free for kids to play on and are learning sites......not gamer sites.......

candace.........my moms friend she used to work with was over the other day (whiskey girls from the other day) and she buzzed her hair in anticipation of her chemo.......she is 3 years out of her treatment and looks absolutley fantastic.....hair looks great too!!!!!!!!LOL!!!!!!! she had a wig, and she said it made her feel so much better wearing the wig into her treatments........cuz she said she didn't look sick....so it made her feel less sick.........i may have grilled her and asked her way too many questions about her journey while i was raking acorns.......but she was getting buzzed on whiskey.....so it was fair game!!!!!!!!!!LOL!!!!!!!!!!

Colleen - I would be suspicious like Mel about the EI if he didn't have any of the symptoms of Ei. Especially if he has it again. Something has to be routinely causing Danny's vertigo.

Candace - :bigarmhug: on the BF. You did a fantastic job. And I say go for the short cut.

Kat - :bigarmhug: It is really really hard to compare kids. Just know you are a great momma doing everything you can for your kids. Working double shifts is hard. What about a letter scavenger hunt? You don't have to plan that...just start looking.

Peg - did you POAS yet?

Jules - WOWsers...pulling that kitchen down. SHe is a little daredevil isn't she?

i wasn't there.......so i'm not sure what the docs thinking was........but an inner ear infection is different than an ear infection that the kids get...........so off of the symptoms that danny presented......i guess that is how he came to the conclusion.......not sure though.........i believe the inner ear infection is caused by labrynthitis.......which you can't see...

Candace, I love your blog! I'm so glad you're writing it. And I agree with your mom. It will be less of a shock later if you start with a short hairstyle. :bigarmhug:

Kel, here's a tip for when you paint your door...I had to put on about 3 coats because it was streaky. Possibly because of the humidity. Probably because I bought cheap paint from Walmart. But because it takes so long to completely dry and you will want to have your door on the hinges and closed when you go to bed that night, smear vaseline along the parts that will come in contact with the door jam. Worked perfectly to not pull paint off when the door is shut. Also I needed less than a quart, so you don't need to buy much. Good luck with your projects! Can't wait to see pics!

LOL, I have my very old copy of A.W Tozer's Pursuit of God out. Jaxon picked it up and he sat on the couch and I could hear him turning pages and mumbling. I go over and he tells me, 'this is a book about mommas' and proceeds to pretend that it's the book I Love You More. So Sinking cute!!!!!
