we did some projects today, this weekend........
we went on another leaf hunt and decorated some construction paper with the leaves......and when they were dry.....the girls put white computer paper over them and colored over them........they thought that was great!!!!!!!
and then we mixed up some shaving cream/glue(my girls LOVE doing this) and we "painted" toilet paper rolls with it for ghosts.....and when it got a little bit tacky, we put mouths and googley eyes on them....(mouths were made with left over foam from the halloween masks  ) they came out great......i'm gonna string em all up and hang them in the kitchen........and then we did a couple more milk jug ghosts...and i had dan bring down some christmas lights(just a small string of whites) and we will decorate our front porch with them...we just have to get some sand in the bottom of the jugs 1st.......LOL.....it's awfully windy around here in fall!
i'm off to go sew the wings on sarah's tiedye.....her mask is done, and then i will have 3 costumes complete!!!!!!! yay!!!!!!!!

Take a balloon and then you take equal parts glue and water and wrap yarn around it and let to dry. You have like little craft balls, and then I was going to glue on spiders.

I read though to put the balloon inside out, do 2-1 glue to water and rub the balloon in vaseline before hand. Actually I read starch is better than glue, but I don't have any. It may be a huge bust but dangit they are cute!

made the HUGE mistake of sitting down for a minute. now i don't want to get up. lol I still need to wash a few dishes, fold some laundry, clean the floors i didn't finish earlier, and eat ice cream. Smile

making myself get up. but i had to share something funny noelle said earlier. for those who don't know or remember, i'm kind of against all things princess. Mel summed it up best... anyway, my DH went to a teacher supply store yesterday (it's awesome, teachers can go once a month and it's all free!) and he picked up a book for her that includes a craft of making your own tiara. i couldn't believe him. anyway, noelle was all excited and told me that it was a book about king's hats and she was going to make a king's hat and wear it. ROFL

I feel like my work here is done. Wink

And yes, we'll be making our stupid 'king's hat' tomorrow.

As usual you ladies are very busy chatting away. It is soo sad that the only computer time I have is at WORK?!? I will try and catch up tonight (if I don't fall asleep at 8pm)

I am so upset about my sister, maybe you guys could listen to me rant for a few minutes? lol.. She is leaving today at noon to go home and my Aunt who she lives with won't let her baby daddy come back and help her out for a few days. She is still very very sore and slow to move, so I know there is no way she can do this by herself. I have practically no vacation left so I can't take off her help her out. I thought of getting them a hotel to stay at for a few days so that he can help out. I just dunno what to do Sad I may end up doing that today.

She also is having a very hard time breastfeeding. She has cracked and bleeding nipples. The lactation consultant told her that her latch seemed to be correct, and from what I could tell, it looked okay. But, I told her that there was no way it was right, you should not be bleeding or have cracking like that. I am about 90% sure she is going to give up on nursing. That makes me sad Sad She has GOT to find a job once she is released from the doctors and I any job that she gets (fast food, retail) probably won't be nursing friendly, so maybe it is for the best?

Sigh...

We had a great weekend though, got to spend a few hours here and there cuddling him. OMG I think my uterus was aching! We went to Hershey park yesterday and the kids had a blast!

My surgery is Friday and I am starting to get a little nervous. I guess I am more nervous that they will not find anything and I will be back to square one with the pain.

I'm here, but not for long. Spent too much time reading posts from the weekend.

Gotta go get Jax up and get ready for school.

I'll be beack, but Colleen, I have to know. What's the scoop on your friend's son? Do you have anymore deets? Are they certain he is a runaway?

i believe he is considered a run away......he left with his friends voluntarily, and his friends are still not talking........i think today is day 6.......her status updates from the weekend were gut wrenching.....his younger brothers, i guess, are not dealing with it too well... Sad .....(not exactly sure of the ages..but they are younger)...and the moms updates are just desperate!!!!

shannon, you have so much on your plate right now........i'm so sorry.......it's so hard to worry about family......and yourself for that matter, with your upcoming surgery......i don't know what i would do.. (((((((HUGS)))))))))
as far as the bfeeding goes......new nips can get real sore and cracked......they've never been "worked" before....olive oil helped me alot...and just working on the latch...., if she isn't letting the girls dry completely before putting her nursing flaps up .....she could get yeasty, fast............brb.....gotta go put lucy on the bus

I love newborn snuggles though!

Colleen, that is just terribly said Sad I can't eveN IMAGINE Sad I hope he returns home:(

Morning Kat!

Waiting until 9 to get in at the doctors. Not even sure what they can do about a cough, I just feel like I have to be sure. The cough is just getting progressively worse. Now with the belly aches, and diarrhea.. and fever last night.. blah. I should take him right?

Good morning!!

party was okay, both kids were good. And for MIL planning it on purpose on our anniversary so we could 'spend it with family', no one, not even the IL's, said happy anniversary! Didn't expect a ticker tape parade, but just shows me more that MIL is pretty snotty!

Shannon I"m sorry for all you've got going on right now. :bigarmhug: I hope something works out really well for your sister, and she can do it. If it makes you feel better in the least, I've been thru 2 c-sections, and both times I was perfectly fine on the day we got home, like if I had to, I could have done everything by myself.

Paula those balloons are CUTE! Can't wait to see the finished product!!!!

Colleen WHOOHOOO on being finished with Sarah's costume! Can't wait to see that one either! And the flying squirrel lol!!!!!!!!

YAY Mel's back!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kat whoohoo for Friday!!!! Sorry you've got a lot to do on the days off, hope you get them done quick and can relax some!!!!

Ruth have fun with the king's hat! ROFL

I've asked this before, but do your kids get scared at seemingly random things??? The latest is animals....last nite Colby was screaming after I put him to bed, he doesn't like snakes. Took a while to calm him down, etc. And then this morning he actually slept late til just after 6, but then suddenly started screaming again....he doesn't like bears or catipillars. Okay. So the thing is, where we live, there's lots of snakes, bears and catipillars lol! I probably should have just said we don't have any around here, but I dunno....so just said if he sees any of those things, he's just to walk away, they won't hurt him, they don't want to be around people, etc....sheesh, where the heck do they get this stuff???

Oh yeah Colleen, it just makes me sick about that boy........I can't help but think his 'friends' know something....

PJ, not sure they could do much for Landon, but with his history of things getting progressively worse as far as breathing, etc....I'd probably take him in just to see. :bigarmhug:

Julie, boo to family. Sometimes some people need a swift kick. Sad Hope you guys do something next weekend or even this week :bigarmhug:

i can't believe NOONE said happy anniversary........i would have been crushed.....it sounds like our families are a lot alike....i've had a godawful weekend with my own family......not the kids.......just my parents and brothers, they all suck!!!!LOL!!!!!!!!!

PJ, sounds like what Joey has. Aweful, croupy sounding cough...sore throat, headache, fever, belly ache. With Landon's history, definately a good idea to take him in though. KUP on what the doc says.

Mel, welcome home! I hope you all enjoyed yourselves!

Julie, happy anniversary yesterday! So sorry no one said anything. Sad

Cristina, so you will be in AA this weekend? I'm not sure if we can make it there. It's about a 1.5 hour drive. I'll see what I can do.

So Joey is miserable. DH ended up sleeping with him almost all night and then he got in bed with me this morning and started screaming when I got up. DH said he was up screaming at least 6 times last night. I'm kinda worried that it is strep but he's already on an a/b for an ear infection. So I don't know, I guess we'll just wait and see.

Morning,

Karrie, we will be in Ann Arbor probably Friday afternoon until Sunday morning. We have the game Saturday, hang out w friends afterwards. Friday we are going to the marching band rehearsal in the afternoon.

Are you east or south of Ann Arbor? We could see you on our way out if that's the case.

Julie- your ILs suck, sorry to say. Ugh. Not even a card or a mention? Stupid. And Karina is scared of all sorts of things. Sometimes she has scary dreams- most often about a scary chicken, I don't know why. She gets scared of generic "monsters" at bedtime and won't leave the bed without me or DH. She was hysterical last night because I would not carry her to the bathroom w me. I lost my temper and DH had to soothe her. I was so tired of carrying her, and she was being so stubborn. So we're all lacking sleep over here.

Shannon- so sorry about your sister's troubles. Why won't the aunt let the baby daddy help? That seems cruel. As for breastfeeding, I have to disagree w you. It's hard and can be painful even if you are doing everything right. My doctor told me to just keep on nursing right through the blood and pain- "a little blood won't hurt the baby." She just needs to go through it and take whatever she can for the pain. I would keep encouraging her.

ok, I may watch way too much Dateline. But, what caused them to think he was a runaway? If the police know his friends are lying about where he is, why a runaway and not [heaven forbid] also pursue foul play or maybe a 'partying' type of accident? I guess this was probably 'typical' behavior for him?

Shannon, I agree with Colleen. That latch can be just fine and the cracked sore nipps are just newbie nursing. And if she spends 3 days in the hospital she will be fine on her own.

Peej, it's really nice to see you. Hope all is well with Landon. I might have to get some starch and try out that yarn balloon craft.

I feel so out of the loop. It's really quite the strange feeling. LOL

Guys.. I don't know what to think!?!! She was in the hospital for four whole days. Do you think she is just being a baby? I mean if those of you who had a c section if you were completely on your own and had stairs to navigate/etc.. Could you do it?

Karrie, Poor little Joey. I really hope the little guy feels better. It does seem kind of weird that he would come down with Strep while on an AB.

Hi I am back.. need to read back...

Real quick Shannon I had 2 C-sec's and I was EXTREMELY SORE still on day 4 and stairs are the devil.. I think I could do it .. but no way carrying a baby or bags or anything like that... not until about day 7.
I was in the hospital for 4 days with Owen and 5 with Everly (I had some stitches issues with her)

Colleen- so sad to see he is still missing....ughhh Sad

Hi PJ Biggrin happy to see you in here.. love the crafts!

yesterday was AWFUL.. we made the unfortunate mistake of deciding to take Hwy 1 up the coast back...
#1 it is VERY curvy and both kids felt ill and me
#2 we didn't check the weather.. foggy at 1:30pm.. couldnt not even see the ocean which is the reason we did it
#3 it took 7 hours with traffic and weather for a 3 hr hour trip home
I could go on.. but I do not want to dwell on it.. anyways it was awful

the weekend was ok.. some crazy stuff .. Thursday pics will be good Smile

From the way you've commented about her in the past, sounds to me like she's just being 'herself'. I left the hospital with Jax after just 36 hours. I did have help at home and they did 'most' of what needed to be done around the house the next 2 days, but I took 100% care of Jaxon. Climbed the stairs to get him dressed etc. He slept in my room, and it was tough sitting up in bed to nurse him, but I didn't wake DH up for help. By day four I was hitting the mall and going out to lunch. You've said she needs to seriously grow up. The only way she is ever going to do this is if you back off on the help. KWIM?

Kelly, that sounds like a nightmare trip. Wanna hear our travel blunder? On the way home, we were about 30 miles South of Birmingham AL, exit the highway to get McD's and potty. Construction on the overpass and everything was all katty whompus. DH got back on the h-way going south instead of north. The kids were having an HM moment and I'm trying to get them fed and cozy, DH is trying to drive through thier chaos and meltdowns over dropped french fries. We drove all the way south back to Montgomery AL. Turned out to be a 2 hour delay.

Sorry, still not much time in my world but wanted to drop in quickly.

Shannon - I couldn't NOT have done it by myself after my c-section. I was limited to doing the stairs once a day (once up and once down) for a few weeks. That said, I had some major complications with a wound that didn't heal. Plus, I was so swollen that I literally wasn't able to bend anything (like my knees).

That said, if she's living with your aunt, could pretty much all she has to do is take care of the baby, right? I mean, she doesn't have to clean up or cook or anything, right? So, I did take care of Miles all by myself, but I had someone else to do everything else.

Does she have a belly band? I had a friend who had one after a c-sect and she healed REALLY fast.

belly band provided by my dr was my saving grace.. that thing is AMAZING for healing and helping.
I was able to care for the kids 100% but I was not able to carry them or "stuff"
I also had big babies and they were heavy off the bat too...

ok off to the store.. need food!

Shannon, have her call her OB. Insurance or medicaid will cover it after a c-sec. What you posted doesnot look like it is enough support, but it's hard to tell by the pics. I also wore a belly band and it helped immensely. I also 'assumed' that because she lives with your aunt, she would not be doing anything BUT taking care of baby.

Shannon honestly I think it depends on the person with a c/s, how much they can tolerate pain, if there were any wound/surgery complications, etc...my mom was here, but the only thing she did to "help" was to play with Colby, I still cooked and cleaned as usual, took care of Daphne 100% (oh but she'd hold her when she was sleeping) etc. If she thinks she needs help, then she probably does, whether it's her being "her", or that she truly is in pain, etc.

Kelly what a dramatic drive girl, that's crazy!!!!!!!!

Mel, OMG on the detour!!!! YIKES!!!!! Can't wait to read more in the PWR!!!!

Colleen that's what's scary about missing 'older' kids....there's just so many possibilities. Sad

My Aunt caved (15 minutes before she is due to leave  ) and is going to let him stay. She is seeing a lactation specialist about the bleeding/cracking right now. Hopefully they will encourage her to continue nursing.

BTW... You guys are great :biglove: Thanks for all the advice!

Back from the doc. Ear infection. First "official" one without tubes. Hoping this isn't the start of a chain of events...

Did an x-ray on his lungs just to be sure.. thankfully all is well. Just keep doing what I am doing with neb treatments and such.

They also gave him a flu shot because he is high-risk right now.. I feel like his immune system is down and he still got one...

Decided just to take the full day off... poor dude has had a long morning :(. He did so well too.. even for the shot Sad minus the tears.. he just was so big about it

So, if anyone is going to do the balloons

1) turn your balloons inside out before you blow them up.
2) don't make them too big.. the odd shape they are the harder lol
3) rub the balloon in vaseline
3) If you use glue I used 2/1 ratio glue to water
4) I found it easier to keep the yarn as a whole. I took it and wrapped it around my hand about 90 times (should have done more) cut it off and then soaked it in the glue. Squeeze out the extra glue and find an end.
5) I wrapped a little string around the end of the balloon (where you blow it up) and while I was starting to wrap I kept going back to the that point so I could hold the string in place.
6) put a little more vaseline on the ends so they stick.
7) let them dry!

Dirol I hair sprayed them last night and will probably do it again once more today. They seem firm but I am hoping it will help since I feel like I should have used more glue and more yarn lol
