Look at me, all on top of things! Woot! Now...to actually find time to READ any of this. Muah, love ya girls!

I always make 2, and cook one that night, and freeze the other without cooking. (the sauce of course is cooked because I make a meat sauce) but that's it.

cooking bean-free chili for dinner tonight (is that an oximoron? lol) my kids don't eat the beans, and I'm the only one who likes them. so I opt out of beans for my chili and they all nom nom nom itup Blum 3

omg my hosue is a mess, I work tonight, and I have zero motivation to clean... even Adam coming home tonight isn't motivating me to clean.
maybe if I leave it a sh!ta$$ mess he'll never leave for 5 effin' weeks again?

"kristimcw" wrote:

my house is a disaster, and I dont work. I have no motivation to clean either or something else comes up and cleaning gets thrown out the door.

I think if I won the lottery, after I had a tummy tuck and lipo, I would hire a person to clean my house FOR.THE.REST.OF.MY.LIFE.

I really stink at cleaning. Like today I had a doc appt with Zack and didnt get home till about 2 and then cleaned the truck out some (got to windy, so had to quit).....now time for the bus, then Wyatt homework, cook dinner, do some dishes, kids baths, and then bed.....so no time today for any cleaning.

When do you all find the time to clean?

"luangwa" wrote:

Vera, thanks for the lasagna answer. and I have to say, I've heard of meatless chili, but not beanless chili. ROFL

I work alot but I do it during my regular 5 day work week. Then my first day off is for cleaning and running around. Then my second day off is for whatever I want to do. It sucks though because I would rather be spending time with the kids then cleaning.

So a catologe for toys r us came in the mail. on the back was a coupon for a $10 gift card when you spend $75 or more. I think I am going to get the Leap Pad from there cause it had extras with it and get the gift card for another gift.

I'm meeting a girlfriend for a drink tonight and I am so tired .. BLAH!

Sad I'm going to take her through some of the Music for Young Years curriculum (think Kindermusik) and see if more structure in her life will help. I so wish some of you guys lived closer because it would be so much more fun to teach this to a group instead of just my kid. lol We'll see how it goes.

Maybe I'll have more time when I get back home and can catch up. Miss you all! Glad Mel's back. Biggrin

Colleen, I've been searching for just the right little funny to make you chuckle and take your mind off your woes for a few minutes. Here's an old one, but good one.

[FONT=Arial]A little old lady was walking down the street dragging two large plastic garbage bags behind her.

[COLOR=black]One of the bags was ripped and every once in a while a $20 fell out onto the sidewalk.
Noticing this, a policeman stopped her, and said,
"Ma'am, there are $20 bills falling out of that bag."

"Oh really? Darn it!" said the little old lady.
"I'd better go back and see if I can find them. Thanks for telling me officer."

Well, now, not so fast," said the cop.
Where did you get all that money? You didn't steal it, did you?"

"Oh, no, no", said the old lady. "You see, my back yard is right next to the Golf course.

On Golf days, a lot of Golfers come and pee through a knot hole in the fence, right into my flower garden.

It used to really tick me off. Kills the flowers, you know. Then I thought, 'why not make the best of it?

So, now, I stand behind the fence by the knot hole, real quiet, with my hedge clippers.
Every time some guy sticks his thing through my fence, I surprise him, grab hold of it and say,
'O.K., buddy! Give me $20, or off it comes.'

"Well, that seems only fair," said the cop, laughing.
"OK. Good luck! Oh, by the way, what's in the other bag?"

"Well, you know", said the little old lady, "not everybody pays."

Paula, ((hugs)) ... I have to say that one of the best things about my diagnosis has been re-evaluating my time with the kids. They still get to me sometimes, but I trynto just take it all in.

RUTH - you should totally do a little music class!! You could advertise at other local churches or at the pediatrician's office. But sorry Noelle is being like that. We exhausted all of our normal disciplining means with Cadence and they weren't working. We fi ally sat her down and told her if she wanted to do big girl things like gymnastics and preschool, then she needed to act like a big girl. That reminder helps sometimes. Most recently though, we took all of her baby dolls away for a day. Kind of weird, because she doesn't PLAY with them everyday, but they are ALWAYS right ther, in her bed. Etc...well, she did not like that one bit!!!

For us, she is good about 90-95% of the time...it is the other times that are so incredibly frustrating!

Oh dear, wish I had multi quoted!

Karrie, can't wait to see mikayla video!

And Emily, remind me what has you tied up these days? School? I hope miles isn't sick!

Colleen, I know I am gonna a sk you for the link to that stuff again when I am at my amazon ordering computer!!

Hey peg and julie!

Kristi, girl...I wishnyou had a break!!! Sorry about the pyrex. That stuff shatters into a million pieces!

Karina, hope you are feeling better. And you accomplished more yesterday than I do in a week!

Well, this post has taken me FORever and I can't remember anymore. Maybe I can pop on here tomorrow for a bit.

Awesome Nicole. I like 12, 37, and 56 the best. So, which one have you decided on?

Colleen, about the 3rd person stuff. I'm totally going off the top of my head, and could be so wrong. I'd say she's copying kaliou. I think 3rd person conversation happens sooner than this, like back when they are first forming sentences when they are toddlers, and haven't yet grasped this concept. Jax never really did it because once he started talking he already understood the whole 'me, my, I, you'. This was probably the way with Lucy as well. Of course, I'm assuming Abby has been using pronouns correctly before this 3rd person stuff came up? It's also very 'normal' for us to talk to littles in the 3rd person without realizing it. Maybe you have started talking to Jack more like this? Do you say a lot of 'Mommy needs to start dinner', or 'Give that to Mommy'. etc.

Gah! I had a whole bunch of multi-quotes from the other thread. From days ago. Sad

I probably can't remember much...

Colleen, what's the latest with all the family drama? Totally sucks that you are made to look like the bad guy. Sad And you are NOT a bad person! Who has been looking out for your nephew, who your brother totally abandoned? A 'bad' person would not have helped out so much with buying clothes and helping him get his feet on the ground. :bigarmhug:

Um. ROFL The next thing that just popped into my head was that Julie's fish has lived two weeks. Really, Ruth? What a great memory.

Nicole, great pics! I love the hood colors, too. Music's color is pink, which totally sucks because we already have a hard time making people think it's a 'real' field of study. So are you done now, or are you going for a doctorate?

Saw some beautiful shots of Karina's jewelry....

Candace, how is your mom doing?

Oh yeah, Colleen, Noelle sometimes talks about herself in the 3rd person, but I still do that sometimes, too, out of habit. lol What Noelle STILL confuses all the time are gender pronouns (he, she, her, his). I correct her all the time, but she still doesn't seem to get it. We even have talks about whether someone is a boy or a girl.

PJ, how is Landon feeling today??

Kristi, I try to clean as I go throughout the day, but the 'deep' cleaning can't really happen when the kids are awake, and I can't be too loud when they're asleep. And now that Brian is sleeping on the main floor, it makes deep cleaning almost impossible. But I have plenty to keep me busy just between laundry, cooking and dishes. lol When DH is home on the weekends, we try to clean better then, but I know you don't have that kind of help. Honestly, I am completely overwhelmed by all this (and don't even get me started on the clutter!) and really wish it could be different. I am just pulled in so many different directions and have way more to do in a day than I have the time to do it.

You definitely hit a sore spot! lol BUT I had a bit of a revelation yesterday and it's already helping a bit... First, I WANTED this life. No, I didn't realize it would be this lonely or this hard at times. But I'd still prefer this life to any other, including the working full time kind of life (this is just me, btw). Almost everything I do is to serve my family in some way, and if I can provide a great childhood for three little people, and raise them to be God-fearing, healthy and happy citizens, then this is all worth it. And rather than grumble about everything I can't get done or don't have time to do, I need to just EMBRACE it and get to things when I can and just do the best I can.

And the other thought I had was about all the people in the world that went to bed hungry last night and will be hungry today. And thinking about the parents who are unable to even provide a single decent meal for their children... it makes me so grateful for everything we have and I try to remember that none of this peripheral stuff really matters.

WOW, deep thoughts for a Wednesday! LOL aaaaaannd, Brian's up. Hopefully I can pop in again soon. Sorry for such a crappy catch up. Sad I'll try to just jump in when I can...

Ruth, you sum up EXACTLY what I feel about my chosen path (minus the God part, LOL)...and I really remember feeling that way most when the kids were still little enough to keep me prisoner in my own house - the kind of jail sentence where you are not luxuriating in your house (and I am a homebody, I don't get cabin fever normally) but almost drowning in it. I promise you, that is a phase that has to do with their age right now - you WILL emerge, you will get back on top of the clutter and cleaning (never-ending after all) and feel less overwhelmed...Give the boys another year or two, not long in the grand scheme. :bigarmhug:

I knew a little girl who had all her pronouns in a jumble, around age 2-3. She used to talk about herself as "you" - as in, "You like the basement." (It felt kind of creepy when she was talking to me, LOL.) I can assure you she corrected herself and is now a very well-spoken 8-year-old.

How are you feeling today, Candace?

Do we get a sneak peek at the flying squirrel??

Hi all!

Colleen, pretty sure today is Wednesday...or I'm loosing what is left of my mind Smile
Sorry for all the family drama...its one of the reasons I see my sister about 5 times a year and rarely talk to anyone else beyond my parents.

Mel, glad to have you back!

Ruth, I agree, it will get better! Every time I feel overwhelmed I remember the difference between my older and younger children. My house is messy, chaotic and challenging...but it won't always be that way. Before I'm ready for it they will be off at school all day, not messing up the living room, and off to birthday parties and to play with friends on weekends, not snuggling on the couch with me and doing crafts. We rarely see the older children as they are very busy with their own lives now.

Sorry that this treatment was so hard on you Candace. Hope you feel better!

That's all I remember right now!

 everyone else!

Micah pulled over on himself a kitchen chair with Noelle's booster seat attached. Sad  I was in the kitchen pouring Noelle a cup of milk and heard the thud and his scream. When I went in the dining room, he was pinned under the chair, face up. His nose bled a little, but he seems all right other than being scared. I was just about to put the boys down for a nap as soon as I had finished with Noelle's milk, so he was tired on top of it all... but he didn't cry THAT long... I gave him some ibuprofen and milk and put him down. What should I look for? I have no idea if he hit his head or not, or how hard he hit it, if he did. I feel awful. I can't believe this happened. The chairs are not that heavy, but I didn't think he was capable of pulling it over. Noelle never did that sort of thing... and I'm not sure how to prevent it from happening again, because I can't push her chair under the table with the booster on it. I guess I can take the booster off - she doesn't really need it anymore, although it is nice to have the option of buckling her in if she's being obstinate...

nicole ...congrats on your grad

ruth...sorry it is rough sometimes...hang in there....i have days like that too but they are becoming few and far between....

although yesterday I told Steve maybe he should talk to someone about his anger issues ..i had the kids out all day yesterday at the zoo.....we had a great day....some minor break downs when they were tired.....mommy had a minor rampage when lyssa was being difiant ( I hate that) but they napped and all was better.....steve comes home from work and ...i had let the kids out back to play on the playground while i started dinner (I can see them right out the back window) and I knew steve was going right out there after he was done going to the bathroom.......i can see them start arguing over a stick (rolleyes) and he gets all huffy and was like 'can't wait to blow my lid' so i got mad at him......he hadn't freakin seen them all day and he's gonna go out there all mad.....so i told him we all need to learn to control our anger every one of us....he said he doesn't know how to do that so I told him he needs to go talk to someone ......HE"S the one that's gonna drive me nuts...not the kids ROFL

anyway....

Yikes!! Good thing kids are pretty resilient, huh Ruth. I think its a boy thing, honestly. Alex has taken more tumbles and hits to the head than anyone. I would look for excessive sleeping (ie- wont wake up, you cant wake him up), uneven pupils, wont eat/drink. Honestly, it probably scared him more than anything. He will probably have a bruise or bump wherever he hit the hardest, but that will go away quickly.

Alex, at about that age, fell down our stairs to the basement (carpeted). 13 stairs. Why the door was open I have no idea. I was in a total panic (he did that silent cry thing = terrible). He was totally fine. I still remember the sound he made on the way down. Ugh. I hope Micah turns out to be as lucky!!

Well started the day off with a big fight w Karina, not a good way to start the day. She cried and I screamed. I aplogized to her but I still feel so badly and I was practically pulling her by the arm b/c she was refusing to walk...it's hard to carry her now that I'm pregnant. Anyways, she allowed me to kiss her when I left daycare, so we'll see what she has in store for me when I pick her up later. She's been very stubborn and rebellious lately, and I haven't been handling it well. Sigh.

Tomorrow we head off to Michigan! I am ready for a few days off, kinda relieved, I need some stress relief.

We've had a few showings on the apartment, so who knows what might happen....

Trust me Peggy, DH and I have our anger issues too...it's hard...I need to relax and calm down before I speak sometimes.

so i "confirmed" that tomorrow is story hour.........LOL.........so hopefully it will be fine......it's for 2-3 yr olds.......the kids librarian is awesome........but jack "may" pose a problem.....he's not one for sitting.....so we shall see..........

ruth...scary.......i'm sure he's ok........if you could see some of the crap jack gets himself into, onto........these little mellons can really handle a lot!!!!!!!!! (((HUGS))) it still stinks......

Poor Micah. Sad I think some kids are just more adventurous than others. Tia and Pax climb EVERYTHING, but I have friends with kids the same ages and they have never done so much as climb onto the couch. I hope he's doing OK, they really are so resilient, I bet he's already way past it.

I really like your outlook as well Ruth. It's very helpful to step back and look at the big picture. I've ALWAYS said I knew the first 5 years or so were going to be difficult after having kids close together, but it's different to live it. I'm confident that long-term we've made the right choices.

OK, gotta run already. We're headed to Home Depot today for a tour with MOMS Club.

 Maybe you mean someone else? My day is going very well so far...LOL! Just surfing the net and laying low until I go get the boys again...it is doing wonders for getting over my cold to not clean or lift a finger all morning, I highly recommend it, LOL!!

How long does it take to get the scrape results?

Wow, lots to catch up on. Busy WEDNESDAY morning for me. ROFL Love you Colleen, and I'm so glad it is Wed, but man o man I sure do hate it when it's not the day of the week I think it is. And I hope you didn't miss that class because you thought it was Tuesday.

Read 5 posts. I'm going to respond and then read 5 more.

Ruth, I wouldn't do anything about the chair getting pulled over. I know that sounds harsh, but seriously, if it's not heavy enough to do SERIOUS injury, a couple bonks on the head and a little bloody nose, and he won't be tipping the chair over onto himself again. It's one of those learning experiences that LOs are better off figuring out for themselves. As far as what to look for, you just want to make sure his eyes are dilating and he doesn't start vomiting. BUT, falling and bonking his head from his own standing position is seriously not likely to cause a concussion. Now, falling off a bed or if he was sitting in the chair and fell out, yes you'd want to keep checking him every couple of hours.

Hi Nicole. It's good to be back.

Kelly, good luck at the doc today. My sister has to have several of those removed every year. I can't imagine adding the stress of already having a spot melanoma removed. I hope your day perks up.

Cristina, your fight with Karina sounds just like something I'm going to encounter with Abs. I'm not looking forward to it, and I'm sorry you had to start your day that way. Sad

Peggy, DH got into a similar petty little argument just before vacay. Not about anger, but about his necessity to be in control of everything that his butthole puckers and he's all stressed and no fun to be around before a trip. I pretty much got ticked and told him he really needed some serious therapy.

Ok, so I decided to just scroll back and forth and I see that Colleen did make it to music class and it was fun. Yahoo Hmmmm, I see Karina says she isn't stubborn and rebellious, and claims to not have used a booster for sometime now. Wink Peg, you are hilarious. But, I do have to wonder why the Home Depot tour? Just to be more familiar with the place so you don't feel like you are on Mars when you have to go in one without the hubby?

So, I bought 5 different 1 1/2 yards of flannel. I need to make some matching recieving blankets and burp clothes.

Oh, I need some ideas for what to serve for a baby shower from 2-4 on Sunday. I've vetoed every idea that has been in my head. Chicken salad croissants--no because that feels like a spring/summer type of thing. Chili or chicken chili--no because that seems like MAN food. Meat and cheese tray and noodle type salads seems too--red neck wedding shower-ish. HELP ME PLEASE. I'm hosting this party Sunday. I wouldn't even care if I have to buy pre-made stuff. KWIM? I just need some ideas.

Oh, and Jax is still in a booster seat, because his butt gets buckled in AND the height difference between the chair and the table top is a little higher than average and he makes a terrible mess dreagging his sleeves and arms through his plate if he's not in a booster.

3 yr olds are so very stubborn. Sorry your day started out very badly. Have fun on your trip.

He should be fine. Wyatt was (okay still is) the king of falling and tripping and running into stuff. Cheyenne is my climber. And I have looked up what you look for all to much. Mainly vomiting right after a head injury is bad. Pupils look like they are equal and do they react to light.

And you could take the booster off, but keep it near by if she is being obstinate, you can stick it back in the chair and buckle her in. LOL.....

Peg, it is hard not to get angry when you have other things on your mind. I am guilty of yelling at the kids every now and again, but I am with them ALL.DAY.LONG. That would have irked me too. Hope it works.

Candace, hope you feel better soon....:bigarmhug:

Anyone read the Iris Johanssen Eve Duncan series? My mom gave me this one book to read and then brought me a whole box full....I am missing the first five or six of the series and they dont have it at my local library, so will look at the one in the bigger town over. If not I want to start getting one of two of them. I needing something to read since DH will be gone in a few weeks. I read when I lay down with Cheyenne to get her to bed.

Mel, that joke was hilarious.

so after yesterdays breaking of the pyrex, my kitchen is so so clean.... Wink so my goal today is to just finish that one room and worry about it and it alone.

Do you guys think this furniture would be sturdy? I was talking about it to DH and he doubted its durability.....and like the $25 bookshelf at walmart is any better.....but I really seriously want to start building some of it. Like a bookshelf with doors or two for my kitchen as extra pantry space. an entertainment center, a king size bed...OMG my list is huge. And I really think I could do it. Winter is coming up and if I could get the shop cleaned out and a heater out there. I have a table saw at moms with all sorts of tools. What do you guys think? http://ana-white.com/

oh and SIL has her baby shower in early November. What do you get for a couple that prob has everything for the baby already? I want to go, but it depends on the weather and if DH is home or not. If the weather is bad and DH isnt home, I might have to hay the cows......

Oh and let me tell you WHY I'm making recieving blankets. She had asked me (a long time ago) if I had any of Jax's receiving blankets left. I said "Oh yes, I have at least 5 of them, my sister and I made a ton right when he was born." So, she's been counting on these blankets and of course hasn't bought any (store bought receiving blankets are worthless IMO). Well, I CAN'T FIND THEM. Seriously, how do you miss place a square yard of flannel? So, I just decided to make her 5. Spent $36 ON THE FABRIC. guess it's not that bad, they were only $4.19 a piece and you def can't buy the worthless ones for that.

Kristi, have you ever done any wood crafting? It is really quite a profession. It's not as easy what it looks to be. It is actually pretty stinking hard unlesss you are really familiar with the fundamentals of Plumb and square and hinges etc. Plus, when will you have time to do this? Seriously, you barely have time to pee in private and you think you will be able to find the time to do something so time consuming? JUST BUY IT.

so at most baby showers I have been to, there has been
a veggie tray with dip
the fruit tray with the dip
Also maybe a meat and cheese tray if an afternoon shower.
mini muffins (blueberry is the one I go for, but dont know what other muffin they had)
punch.

so there is my experience with showers....LOL

Ok, wait. This sounds wonderful. I just need to work out the detes. Not sure if I can swing a HOT lasagna, but I probably can. Yes this might just work. BUT, what is/goes on a 'anti pasta platter'?

Explain the honey sesame drizzle?

I'm guessing Home Depot because they do lots of kids projects, building stuff, etc. At least the ones around here do. I keep meaning to take Noelle because some of those projects look like fun, and they're free! Smile

And that right there is one of the reasons I love this board so much. Biggrin When I read Mel's post, I thought, shoot, i have no idea. Can't even remember what i've eaten at baby showers... and then Kelly jumps in with a great idea! We all have our strengths. BiggrinBiggrinBiggrin

And :bigarmhug: I hope you don't have to wait much longer, Kelly. Waiting is the worst.

Thanks, everyone, for the tips about Micah. I think he's fine. He slept just over 2 hours, which is awesome. Brian took the longest nap of his entire life - just over 3 hours!!! Yahoo I really needed that time with Noelle and just a little breather. She helped me get some bread in the machine, and then I started working on getting some sweet potatoes peeled and diced, and then had time to do half of Micah's breathing treatment before he woke up.

So is Noelle the only one left wearing dipes to sleep? She NEVER wakes up dry. Ever. Every time I've tried putting her down without a dipe, it's a disaster. She'll even sometimes pee in her carseat if she falls asleep in the car. DH wants to give it a whole week without dipes and just see if she gets it. I foresee a LOT of laundry, optimist that I am. lol But I am all for saving $$ on dipes - just spent $20 on 92 size 6 target dipes. Mel, did waking Jax up to pee a few hours after he went to bed work? Are you still doing it? Tell me more! Smile

Oh, and sorta funny story... Every time someone pulls a knife out of a drawer, Noelle says, "Be careful with that knife; it's sharp!" On Monday night, I was in a hurry and sliced my finger. Today she asked to see where I cut myself and then totally said, "I told you to be careful. If you had listened to me, you wouldn't have hurt yourself." ROFL Wonder if she's ever heard that before? lol
