Have fun putting the tree up Smile

Maham, how many finals do you have? Good luck momma!!!

I need ideas for an inexpensive side dish to feed 15-20 people, also an easy cookie recipe! We have our Christmas party Tuesday after school.

LOL Ruth!! I mean, I'm sure it wasn't funny at the time, but...well, after the fact it's a cute picture!

I remember my Xmas tree always being tied up when I was little (I always assumed it was because we had cats, but now that I'm a mother, I'm rethinking that). There was a few special eye hooks in the wall where the tree was for just that reason.

No, it was funny at the time, too (esp since he didn't get hurt and the lights didn't spark or start a fire). Cheap tree, cheap, unbreakable ornaments, no worries!

PJ, AWFUL!! i'm glad you're feeling some better today. Poor thing!!! :bigarmhug:

Darn, should have multi-quoted. wait, maybe i did. bbl

Maham, when do you need it by? I'll see if I can locate it. But, I think I conveniently 'lost' it. Wink

Peej, let me think a bit about a cheap side dish. Do you want hot or cold? Potatoe something would be great if you can hot, because potatoes are always CHEAP. Or maybe a cheesy broccoli rice dish?

Great haircut for Mr Ben

Hey Ems, Speaking as a stylist, I had a couple of difficult toddler clients. It was always easier if the mom dumped him in the chair and then went back to the reception area and read a magazine. Not sure if you would be comfortable with that, but just thought I'd throw it out there.

Ok Maham here you are.

Orange Poppyseed Cake
1 1/2 teaspoon poppyseeds (I used closer to 2 Tablespoons)
3 cup flour
1 1/2 t. salt
1 1/2 t. baking powder
3 eggs
1 1/2 C Milk
1 1/3 C oil
2 1/4 C sugar
1 1/2 t vanilla
1 1/2 t almond flavor
1 1/2 t butter flavor
Add all together and beat for 2 minutes, or until smooth. Pour into greased and floured bundt pan, bake one hour at 350. Top will crack when done. When cake is stable, but still slightly warm remove from pan, poke holes all over the top (an ice pick or meat thermo is the perfect size) then pour glaze over.

Orange Glaze
1/4 c orange juice
3/4 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon each of butter, almond and vanilla extract/flavoring.

Mix this up well ahead of time to give the sugar time to disolve, let it sit at room temp.

I'm not a huge fan of almond flavoring, so I substituted orange flavoring for the almond in the cake, but used almond in the glaze.

Mel those are cute! I keep forgetting to tell you guys this....my mom tells me there's this really wealthy couple at church and they are always dressed beautifully. They have two young daughters. So my mom says after I tell her the last time some labels to look for at the consignment sale that she finally understands they way the daughters are dressed. she said she always wondered why the girls were dressed in mismatched clothing when the parents were so wealthy and dressed so well themselves, but me telling her MJ was really expensive new and the mismatch was the whole point helped her understand. ROFL

Kerri Ben is so cute! Great cut!

PJ what about spinach dip? A couple boxes of frozen spinach, cream cheese, etc....cut up French loaf, that should be pretty cheap!

Hi Candace!! Oh I hope you are feeling okay!

Ruth LOL at the tree!! Oh goodness! We are tethering our tree to the wall, but something tells me with little kids very interested in a tree, something is still bound to happen! Has it happened again?

Stephan, yay for the cleaner!! That's awesome, I'd keep it up!

Okay that's all that was on this page since I never remember to multiquote! Hope everyone is having a good weekend!

Ruth, I'm glad that was funny even when it happened and not just afterwards! I left the room for a second and came back in to Noah carrying the kitty litter box and yelling at the top of his lungs chasing the poor kitty around. that's not what i meant by you need to potty train Noah!!

Candace, so nice to see you pop in here

Hi Julie! Hi Kerri!

I'm having such a hard time figuring xmas gifts for people out. Cannot wait til school is over so I can concentrate on the real important stuff - xmas cookies, shopping, movies, and nonstop playing with my little Noah!!!

At 7:12pm, I took Micah upstairs to nurse and put him down for bed. Brian was about to go to bed. Noelle would have been very close behind.

It is now 9pm. Micah *just* fell asleep. DH just took Noelle upstairs. Brian just started crying. Long and boring story about how bedtime has taken more than 2 hours, but just let the record show that bedtime has taken more than 2 freakin hours!!!!!!!!!!!!!

off to find a drink. (of coffee )

Can't wait to see pics!! The one Christmas I spent in the bay area, we went to Half Moon Bay (I think) to chop down our tree. The funny thing is that out in the open, the trees don't look nearly as big as they really are. So when we brought home this beautiful tree, it took up pretty much the entire dining room. LOL And we had to go out to Home Depot to get a saw to cut off the bottom enough so we could stand the tree upright because it was too tall to fit. But it was mostly just the widest tree ever. It was magnificent! lol My BF and his roommate had to walk in a roundabout path to get from the living room to the kitchen because the tree literally took up all of the dining room. ROFL

Karina, I hope you're not getting sick!!!

I would totally do that if I could swing it!!!! Enjoy your clean house!! Biggrin Glad you're feeling better, too.

Cute clothes, Mel! And I'm glad your DH gets to live another day. Wink

Julie, SO glad to see you!!! I've missed you tons, girl! This thread just isn't the same without you and all your redneck stories. Biggrin

Candace, I'm so glad you got to see your kids and that they did such a great job! I hope you're getting pampered at your parents' house!

Kerri, Ben's hair looks so cute! I need to trim up the back of the boys' hair soon, but I'm afraid it's going to look awful because they don't hold still for anything. Any tips, Mel? (if you see this)

Oh my gosh, Noelle is standing up and bouncing and dancing on her bed. At least she's being very quiet about it - wouldn't have known if i hadn't decided to peak on the monitor. But if she doesn't go to sleep soon I'm going to LOSE IT.

In other news, I totally scored today at Macys!!!! I took back a few clothes that my MIL gave Noelle - they're more early fall type clothes and I don't think they'll fit when the weather gets warmers again - so I was able to get all 3 kids Christmas pjs and get Noelle some flannel sheets without spending a penny! BiggrinBiggrinBiggrin The sheets were on sale for $12, too. Biggrin They're Martha Stewart. It's the only brand Macy's carries and the person I talked to about them said that she really likes them. Anyone know anything about MS brand??

Scariest night of my life.

Just got out of the ER. Literally rushed landon there in a blanket no pants, no socks, shoes, coat... a shirt and a pull-up.

He has been coughing abnormally bad all day but heaven forbid he slows down. We were already in the yellow zone for the asthma action plan. I put him in my bed because I need to monitor his breathing. I go in to check on him and he can't catch his breath (what if I didn't go check on him???) I take him outside I get out the inhaler ..his lips are turning blue I wrap him in a blanket and haul *** to my car.

His asthma went to croup in less than 30 minutes. His oxygen levels were down had the IV going Sad UGHHHH! The nurses are a whole nother story I just dont' have the energy right now.

We are home. He is breathing much better. He is sleeping and I am going to snuggle up with him and kiss him all over Sad He was so scared Sad

I literally was debating in my head 911 or get to the hospital I just had to run out my door.

Omg Paula! How scary! Oh my word, thank goodness you went to check on him. I'm so sorry, how is he doing today? How are you, has your heart stopped beating 100 miles a minute yet?

Colleen yesterday sounds awesome! What a cool Christmas treat! Oooo and what outfit do you have coming!

Oh no Ruth, hope Noelle got to sleep! jeez yeah that enough to drive you nuts, all 3 kids fighting the same battle. And lol because dh and I just had the convo that trees always look so much smaller than they really are until you get them home into the house! And I think it's even worse if you cut them down, they are in their own environment and just look reasonably sized....til you try to fit them in your house lol! And score on the returns and purchases!

Maham haha about the kitty litter! hope finals go good and you can get to the real important holiday fun stuff!

Candace so glad you are getting some quiet at your parents. I bet it was so good to see the kids today, and even better they were on great behavior!

Mel was the candy bar good, you never came back lol!

Too much to do today, I feel bad because there's a bday party Colby should go to. It's in a quaint town near here on a street that a Christmas parade will go by during the party. Would be really cool, but we need to buy and decorate our tree, I need to shop because we have snack duty next week at school, I really need to move faster on the crafts I'm doing for gifts, and other such junk lol! So the kid will miss the party, but I guess I can look at it like I saved the money on the present lol!

Haha Kerri Colby says he's not real either all the time, but I keep saying oh yes he is, trust me lol!!!!!!!!!!! What I'm waiting for is for him to just rip the thing up....you tell them the magic is he sees what you are doing and tells Santa....how long would it really take a kid to want to destroy the thing for being a traitor lol! I figure that'll happen this year, and if not, definitely next year lol! This morning I set it up with some cereal and Colby said, he can't eat, he's not alive lol! Stick with it, if nothing it'll be funny stories to tell about what she says about the whole matter!!!!!

Oh lordy Colleen, yeah just what you want, a houseful of boys on a Sunday morning! Good call telling him no way, no thank you on that one!!! So now he can just stay in his room and be pissed that you told him no lol!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just popping in to say hi before the craziness of today begins... I only read back a bit so please forgive me for missing a lot of people....

Julie, too funny about Colby and the elf! Nothing gets past that boy, that is for sure!

Colleen, sounds like a fun night out! I am sure the kids enjoyed the train ride. Can't wait to see what cute clothes you got!

Paula, :bigarmhug: to you and Landon, how scary!

Ruth, sorry to hear about the bedtime battles Sad

Mel, mmmm that carmello bar sounds good, hope you enjoyed it!

As you might have seen from the pictures thread, we did our christmas yesterday. Anyone who bought their kids a leappad....they rock! Apps are crazy expensive, but Gweny has had a blast with hers. She loves to take pictures with it. I was looking at the pics she took yesterday and found like 5 of my butt.....thanks Gweny....

We started elf on the shelf too and Gweny is in awe of the whole thing. Jerry and I asked the kids what they wanted to name the elf and before anyone could respond JD burped really loud, so that settled it for them, they named him Burlap.....

your pics are awesome!!!!! loved them all.....you kids are so gorgeous!!!!! i can't believe JD Smile is almost a year!!! i mean really.......crazy....you were just flaunting that beautiful baby belly and now look at that beautiful one yr old!!! gahhhh it just goes so fast!!!!!!!!
what a whirlwind weekend!!!!!! i haven't stopped thinking about you!!!! nothing like squeezing christmas/1st birthday/daddy going away and moving in one week......this is when i SOOOOOOOOOOOOO wished i lived on the other coast....i would have loved to have been there for you IRL!!!!!!!!!

kerri and julie........
had had one guy post on fb this about the elf.......
The Elf on the Shelf is killing me! I wake up in the middle of the night freaking out that I forgot to move him or I put him in the same place I did before or one of the kids saw me. The stress level should not be this high....

and this was one of my girlfriends posts.........(her daughter is 9)
Any doubts I had of Hope not believing in Santa Claus anymore are now completely gone. She has been crying her eyes out for the past half hour. The cat knocked over Cornelius, our Elf on the Shelf, and Hope is devastated that the elf's magic is gone and he will NEVER come back.

so i'm having a blast reading about the stresses......they are all posting pics too of what they are doing with him.......HILARIOUS!!!!!!!!

the trunkshow host is cleaning out her stash for the new spring line......she mailed those 5 pieces to me for $100......all NWT's.......that is a $75 savings plus free shipping!!!!!!! WOOHOOOO!!!!!! plus , just the fact that those 2 shirts help winterize so many of the outfits i already have.....i am sooooo happy!!!!!

Pj- That is really scary. You handled it well though.

Julie- man o man that is alot of money on snacks.

Emily- wow you have alot going on this week. How are you holding up?

It is nice to finally be able to get in here. Between the site not coming up and then me not being able to get on with my phone acting stupid, I was going crazy. I missed everyone. What is on everyone's agenda this week? We are going to get our Christmas tree on Tuesday. I am doing Christmas shopping on Wed. Josh also has a PTA pj party wed night.

Highlight of me week. DH filmed Josh singing 5 little monkeys. I know the other blossoms are probably way past this, but it is huge here. I was crying watching it. I wish he had gotten it with the camera but he recorded it on this phone. If I can figure out how to get it on here then I will. It is just too precious.

Mel- Josh still stutters but he has been doing this weird thing where he cant get the first word of a senctence out right. His voice gets higher pitched and scratchy and he drags out the first letter. I was wondering if Jax ever did that. If I can get the video on here I think he does it once with singing.

Lets just say the next girl bursts my ear drum and blood is coming out of my ear. Imagine and ear infection with a burst ear drum. YA FUN! It hurt so badly I literally screamed in panic and started crying. I have an abnormally high pain tolerance and it was pretty much horrid.

Let's just say the doctor shut the door on the nurse, they gave me my prescription right there for my ear.

awful. awful. awful.

I just want to go to bed

You poor, poor girl. That sounds so incredibly painful Sad And then I read about your horrible night with Landon. I can't even imagine how terrified you both must have been. I'm so glad he's home and feeling better.

"luangwa" wrote:

Peej, Sad that sounds wicked, I probably would have reflexively (yep, I made up that word, I think) slugged her. Hope you are getting some relief.

Colleen, glad you aren't dying over there and are actually feeling better. I have a useless small family, if it's any consolation.

Tracy I see you had the day from he double toothpicks. Hope the weekend treats you better.

Pump is fine. That man is so lucky.

Yeah, Friday pretty much sucked. Nothing in particular...just one of those days where working full time and being a full-time SAHM caught up with me. This time of year is always crazy at work. And on Friday, it seemed like everyone needed me for something right away. Lana has a cold so she barely slept the night before and she wanted to be held all day. It was just a rough day all around.

The weekend has been better except that I spent ALL DAY today cleaning and doing laundry...with both kids under foot. While DH spent the whole day on the couch watching football. He does not get why I'm pi$$y. He actually had the balls to tell me to get over whatever I was pi$$ed about.

I have thought about doing this soooooooooo many times. DH thinks its a waste of $$ - of course he does. It's not his weekends spent cleaning. But a lot of people I talk to say that their "person" doesn't do great job. For the sake of my sanity (and at times what feels like the sake of our marriage!), maybe I'll look into it.

Kerri - Ben's haircut is adorable! I can't believe you've made it nearly 2 years before getting his first haircut! Tyler's hair grows like weeks - I had his first cut at 8-9 months.

IDK - it's not the kid's fault they were born so close to Christmas, you know? That kid should have a birthday party just like a kid who is born in July. I'm sure others have thought the same of me - Tyler was born just 3 weeks after Christmas. But I still have a party for him - I don't ever want him to think he missed out on what other kids get just b/c of the time of year he was born, kwim?

Emily, big hugs to you girl!!!! We are here for you! Looks like you guys had a great Christmas!! :bigarmhug:

Vera!!! woohooo! Show off that new uniform!!

Steph, awesome on the cleaning! Probably one of the best rewards to give yourself lol! You deserve it!

Tracy, wow! I would be instantly piss$ too!!! Sorry his day is so rough while you are being super woman! boo!

We need to see Josh's video!!!!!!!!! Woohooo that is greaT!!!!!!!!

the clothing is adorable colleen! I would be happy to unwrap that Smile lol!

Julie that is quite the haul! Glad you get to eat too lol!

Landon is doing much better today. I can't get the kid to calm down to save my soul, and then his cough is 100x worse. We even painted, did a craft..anything to keep him sitting. Then he takes the albuterol and is like a crazy kid. He will be in my bed for awhile because I just see the image of his blue lips and know I won't sleep if he isn't next to me until he is breathing regularly. blah.

I am feeling so much better. Thank goodness! I wouldn't have been able to handle this a day earlier. Although, Landons nebulizer machine makes me so floaty when it is on with my ear. It is so bizarre and cruel lol. We are a bad combination right now.

PJ - just another :bigarmhug: love you

colleen - love the new MJ additions. and the Elf stresses...too funny

Jules -

Emily - :bigarmhug: I do love the story behind Burlaps name.

MIa...since we officially moved in w/ inlaws this weekend. And I'm miserable because packing up stuff stirred up dust (lots and lots) which I'm allergic too. Then add to that two cats at the birthday party I brought Grace to this afternoon (I'm severely allergic to cats). So...yeah...lots of fun here. I'll be glad when closing is over (Friday).

Deb :bigarmhug: love you! This will all be a thing of the past soon and you will be in a new home! Step 1..

Sorry about the dust and cats though Sad

My room is flipping FREEZING! I have the window open a smidge to get the fresh air circulating. His breathing is just off. He even has a snore so I know he is still far in the yellow zone

He's up. I am off to bed snuggle on my little man Sad

Kat, it's called blocking when they get 'stuck'. Here's a vid of Jax, it has some classic blocking in it.

Peej, I want to here the nurse rant about the other night, Glad you and Landon are doing a little better, and I hope Landon makes huge progress soon. hugs lady. Oh and the neb machine does weird things to my equalibrium too. WEIRD.

So I'll give the full detes tomorrow, but we (me and Candace) think I just got scammed on that MJ that was forsale.

Santa only brings gifts less than XX amount of dollars. Elvs make toys, not vehicles.

PJ - so glad to hear you are are on the mend. Sorry Landon is still struggling a bit though. Sad

Deb - big hugs on the move. We stayed with my ILs for a couple of months when we first moved up here. Wooooo-weeee....talk about stressful. They are good people, but a couple in their 30's with 2 kids and a dog belong in a place of their own!! It was hard. Good luck!!

Yes, yes he does. It's the same argument over and over. And over.

LOL. Tyler was asking for every.single.toy he saw on TV. I finally told him that he couldn't have all of them b/c Santa could only carry so much. So he sat and thought about that for a while - he didn't say much. Then another toy commercial came on, he said, "I ask Nana and Pap-Pap for that." The TV went off after that. LOL. You could always tell Wyatt that Santa can't carry such a big gift.

that was just a small rant......i was half joking considering i was talking to julie and her daughters birthday is dec. 16th.......and i do know it all too well, because lucy's birthday is jan. 25th.....so ya, i'm sure the parents will be rolling thier eyes cuz i'm mailing out her invites the week the kids go back to school Wink ....so ya, i do kwym.....:) oh and i bought the little girl a gift tonight...as for the july birthdays....i know that too..i have 2 july birthdays....it's actually WAY easier to have a dec/jan party than a july party....everyone is on vacation......

Tracy - let me know if you need the name of a lady that cleans. Mine is fanfreakingtastic! I seriously don't know what I would do without her. I tell her that every time she is done cleaning Wink The problem is that she is very, very busy!

I would KILL my DH if he did that. About three months after Kayla was born I had a complete meltdown with DH and his football/bowling/video games. I basically told him that did he think it was fair that he got to do whatever he wanted while I cleaned? I had zero time to do anything and when I went back to work when Kayla was three months old it took me about a week before I lost it.

To his credit, he has turned things around and is really a wonderful dad and husband now. I know I have it good Wink

Colleen - Midnight and you are just getting back from the store!? I don't know how you do it!

Mel - I hope you didn't get scammed!

Kristi - I like the suggestions that others have given. Especially the "santa can't carry that on his sleigh"

PJ - That description of Landon and his breathing sounds sooo terrifying! I hope he is doing better now. And your ear! OMG, that is horrible! I hope that nurse is not here if you go back.

Julie - What sort of snacks are those kids eating, shrimp cocktail? LOL

Deb - Sorry about the move and the allergens!

Candace - I just read your blog post and it sounds like you are in a great place to be taken care of. So nice that you have your mom for not only the physical part of your recovery, but the emotional side. I can't even imagine how hard this would be Sad Keep your chin up and remember that the really hard parts are over now!

So I have been doing this biggest loser weight loss challenge at work for three weeks now. And I have lost 8 lbs!!! I am so completely excited and feel tons better! I can see my waist again (now to work on toning ;-)!!

I also found out last week that my cholesterol is getting much better, even on the lowest dose of statins. It went from 501 to 362! I know that is still crazy high, but it is a big deal to me. I am sure the weight loss has something to do with it too. Ten more pounds to go and I will be happy with my weight.

Happy Monday ladies!
