Ok Colleen, I have no idea how in the world you still have energy to grocery shop that late. Man, I'd be sleeping in the bread aisle. LOL But then later I read Danny went with. I could totally stay awake for a grocery trip with the hubs. We used to shop together every week before Jax. I miss it.

So the MJ off CL. Long story short, I had already sent paypal (yes as goods so I'm at least covered) when I posted those pics here. Well, a couple of weeks ago Candace was in contact with a lady that was selling a lot of Boden in a city near one of Brandon's relatives. Same type of add saying 'come to my house or I will ship for small fee.' When Candace asked where she lived--kind of implying she was going to be having someone pick them up-- the lady never replied back. SO, fastforward to this weekend. Candace comes across these other adds in a totally different area, send me a like to an 11pc MJ size 2/3 set, I contact the lady, she sends me pics, I want the lot. I post the pics of the stuff, and lo and behold Candace recognizes all the You & Me stuff because the same lady that had the Boden a few weeks ago had these exact pictures, Candace thought it was the same person so she asked me the name, and it is a totally different person, names aren't even similar, but is using the EXACT pictures that this other woman was using. Also, Candace had inquired about a pair of ruffs, and the lady never responded to Candace, but responded to me in about 2 minutes. There is more, but all I have time for now.

Shannon, great job on the weight and cholesterol numbers!!!

Kristi, I tell the kids they can put whatever they want on their christmas list but Santa will know what ones will be the best to bring them, even if they don't get something they really wanted, Santa knows better.

PJ, :bigarmhug:

Candace, I'm so happy to see you. I have to go catch up on your blog now.

How much do real christmas trees cost in your area? We were going to go back to a real one this year, went to the tree farm and left...they were $68!?!

Ive been lurking all weekend (I worked- blah)

PJ and Landon- OMG I would have freaked. I hope his breathing is okay last night/this AM. How scary. I just cannot imagine going thru that. You are brave and strong. I hope he starts getting better soon!!

Candace- I read your blog post this AM. Im glad to see a smile on your face during recovery. That says more than words can ever say. Stay strong. Im glad your family is there to help!

Mel- hope it wasnt a scam, but sounds fishy huh? Keep us posted.

Life here has been busy. I worked all weekend so today my house is an absolute wreck. Like, I have a solid 2 hours of cleaning ahead of me. I hate that my DH lets it get like this when Im at work and they boys are home. So frustrating.

I will schedule my big ultrasound in 2 weeks, probably likely to get in the week after Christmas. YES we will find out the gender (but we both think its a boy!). At one point in my life I was dying to have a little girl, but after all the fertility stuff I can honestly say I dont give a rats behind what gender this baby is I want it to be HEALTHY! Im pretty sure Ive felt a few kicks from baby, particularly because at my last appointment during the dopler the baby kicked at the wand and I felt it and heard it. Doctor agreed, I definitely felt that one! Yay for a healthy strong baby!!

So- laundry, cleaning and grocery store on the agenda today. Its 9AM and Im already ready to quit.

Good morning Smile

Thank you all so much for all the hugs and support. I was crying like a baby this morning when he left for work and he will be home this afternoon!

Colleen, wow, sounds like you are good to go on the Christmas shopping! I wish you lived out on this coast too.... We would have a blast together Biggrin And those clothes are adorable!

Mel, I hope that is not a scam! Thank goodness for paypal.

Jan, I can't wait to find out the gender of your baby! How exciting.

Julie, that is a lot of $$ for snack for school! Those kids are going to be very well fed. I am sure they will appreciate it.

Tracy, omgosh, Gwendolyn does the same thing. Every single toy she sees. And it only makes it worse that every single comercial is for a toy.

Paula, how is Landon doing today?

Deb, :bigarmhug:

Karrie, that is a lot for a tree!

Peg, sorry about all the poop....not fun.

Shannon, that is awesome about the weight loss and cholestoral numbers! WTG!

Emily, I do that all the time too... I hate how it will suddenly just log you off.

Hi Candace!

Okay, I gotta get off here and get the stuff out on the front porch for Amvets to pick up. We are donating a ton, they are going to love us Wink

Emily, I'm hoping the move and everything goes smooth sailing for you and Gweny isn't a monster while her daddy is away.

Jan, AMEN sister. Can I tell you this without everyone's jaw hitting the floor? Pregnant with Jax, both DH and I wanted a girl more than anything. Of course the second we found out it was a boy, we were both elated. It was weird that neither of us didn't really feel any disappointment that he wasn't going to be a girl. Same thing when I was pregnant with Abs, we both were hoping for another boy, just for the logistics of having 2 of the same gender. ELATED when we found out it was a girl. BUT, (do I need to include the disclaimer that I love Abigail with every cell in my body and WOULD NOT trade her for a boy?) a large part of me still wishes we had 2 boys. This girl is going to fray every nerve ending I have. And it's just simply all her female characteristics. She is 126% a girl. ROFL

Ours was $45 at the supermarket. But I know some tree lots sell them for $80.

Candace, I am glad things are as good as can be expected right now. :bigarmhug:

PJ, congratulations on surviving a weekend from hell.

I am emerging from the undead myself; today I woke up without a fever for the first time in three days. It has not been a picnic, but at the same time it could have been much worse (no other symptoms save a cough).

Mel, I hope it is just a case of borrowing pictures. I borrow pictures off eBay sometimes when I want to sell locally and don't have pictures of my own stuff - if it is the same product, that usually does the trick. On the other hand, I've had to go through PayPal a couple times for refunds on transactions that have gone bad; thank goodness for that protection!

Morning Smile

we doing a PWR?
We went to the mountains and cut our tree it was 37 for a 6ft one.

wanted to ask a quite boy question.
Owen woke up and said his pee pee hurt.. I am like ok show me what hurts, he points to it and says it's hard and hurts  for real.. he is freaking 3! I just said sometimes it hurts in morning.. is this normal?

Candace HUGS hope you are feeling better.
Mel- ughhh that sucks!
EmilyC- Sad sorry hun
PJ so glad Landon is ok .. was watching on FB and I was so sad for him Sad

that is all I can remember... I have a story of why I was SO PISSED this weekend.
Lets just say DH forgot the bag that had the kids JACKETS, BEANIES, and FREAKING CAMERA for tree cutting:mad: we get there and it flippin COLD... and WINDY and all I had for E was a old hoodie that didnt match was a size too small.. and of course I didn't get ANY pictures of tree cutting except what my sister took on her Iphone.. UGHHHH I would not even talk to him I was so mad I was almost in tears..
So our Christmas card was made with a montage of other pics.. I will scan it later.
so upset.

SISTER UPDATE: so she decides to go to the Virgin Islands to see a guy she spent 48 hours with(total time she knew him).. cost her like 1K for a ticket  and misses Thanksgiving and gets back and claims "she is in love" and "they are ment for each other"
She drops this bomb on us in the car on the way to get the tree
she is going back.. like on the 16th! the day classes get out (she is 2nd grade teacher) and MISSING CHRISTMAS! first time in 28 years.... I am just floored she literally JUST got back.. WOW.. so NOW this changes everything. Originally we (dh and I) were planning to start our own traditions with our now complete family.. as in NOT staying overnight on Xmas eve at my moms.. having our kids do Xmas morning at home.. then going to moms for the day like usual.. but this was a sore subject for my mom.. she was less than pleased. But my sister would be there with her.. so now Megan is missing the whole thing.. and I had to tell Dh that our plans are going to push back a year.. I do not want my mom to wake up alone on Xmas.. It's still hard for her at this time of year. He totally agreed. I am kinda annoyed with my sister, but I am trying to be supportive.

We wanted an 8ft tree...$68. A 6ft tree was $48. There's another tree farm that has the prices posted online...$35 for an 8ft, much better! But they aren't open on Sundays (when we went) so we just decided to put up the old fake one that looks like crap again this year and go to the other place next year. My jaw dropped when I saw those prices.

Kelly, I'm so sorry you didn't get any pics. Sad And wow about your sister.

Karina, glad you are starting to feel better, sounds like what went around here a few weeks ago.

Kelly, totally normal about the hurt pee pee. What if you go ahead and start your own family traditions like you planned, but just modify it. Maybe have your mom stay with you and do all the Christmas stuff at your house.
I know that what your sister is doing is annoying you, but it sounds like this guy is making her happy and the best thing you can do is be supportive. DH and I met and were engaged within 3 months of meeting eachother and my family was not supportive at all, which is why I did not tell them we got married until 3 months after it happened. I know firsthand how it feels to have family not support you and your decision (especially when it comes to love/relationships) so I know that you supporting her and her decisions is something that she will never forget.

so i grab both and run upfront and call the school back.......in the meantime, i run downstairs to sarah's room....not there.......i remember hearing her leave at 6:50am you know...........5 hrs ago!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! panic attack in full freaking effect!!!!!!! the lady at the desk says she is calling sarah's class to see where she is...she was there........PHEW..........
and this is why i need valium on hand at home....stat!!!!!
she was going to call sarah down to see why she wasn't in homeroom for attendance........

oops...........never hit post...........
school called back.......she was called down to guidance because she scored nearly perfect on her psats that she took about a month ago, and they wanted her to know they saw her results and wanted to congratulate her in person on scoring the highest in the school!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! as a sophmore who didn't have to take them!!!!!!! ok......anxiety turned into proudness!!!!!!!! could still use some valium!!!!!!!!

Kelly, I hope your sister finds happiness! And good for you for being supportive! I agree with pp, maybe its time for your Mom to stay o/n at your house on Christmas. I agree about the pee pee too...DJ is two and has the same problem some mornings Wink

Let's see what I remember...

Ruth, I hope you do get a break. I think that is what you NEED for Xmas...a whole day off.

Julie....we miss you!

Candace, glad to see you around!

Mel, glad your pump isn't junk! And I hope that the CL thing works out.

Karina, glad you are back on your feet. My DH is down with that right now, it seems awful!

Colleen, glad you are feeling better...sorry about the kitty litter!

Maham, your comment about Noah and kitty litter made me lol. Good luck on finals.

Emily C3...glad your DH got to do Xmas with the kids. Looks like you had fun! Good luck this week, thinking of you!

Karrie, we went artificial for the first time ever b/c of the tree prices. We found a 9ft pre-lit on CL fo $99...one string of lights out. A couple of hours work by me...and $5 for a new string of lights and we're good to go for years to come.

PJ, so glad that both you and Landon are doing better! That must have been very very scary. Next time though, call 911...they bring the hospital to him. I'm bad for that...I've transported my kids mid-seizure...but its a bad idea.

Tracy, hope your DH gets his head out of his butt! With all you do, you need a cleaning lady AND a supportive, helpful husband. You should totally schedule next weekend as your weekend to do something you like...and give him the list of chores that need to be done WHILE taking care of the kids.

That is totally all I can remember. Must mulitquote next time!

I had a very very busy weekend. The children's party was a huge hit and a HUGE amount of work. Fortunately my MIL came with my kids, so I could help run the crafts/games while they were there. We have a ton of volunteers, but they are highschool kids and don't seem to be able to think of solutions on the fly. DH came by after his 13 hour shift to pick us up. DJ was asleep in the car before DH got his buckles done up. Yesterday DH worked and then when he got home he was sick. I think a lot of it was being very tired, but he is running a fever. We will see. My parents called yesterday and said they wanted to come today for a couple of days. Dad is going to put an outlet out the front of our house for the xmas lights. Fortunately the house was clean from the foster care inspection last week, so we're good to go. Unfortunately I haven't been shopping in two weeks...we're very low on pretty much everything. I will have to go tonight after the kids go to bed. We're going to get the rest of the xmas decorations out and decorate the tree after work! Yay!
Last day of classes for me...I'm so EXCITED...a couple of weeks with no students is just what the doctor ordered!

Um Yeah Colleen, you gave me a freaking heart attack just reading that. Can you send me some valium when you get yours? Wow! Seriously, my heart is still thumping. A HUGE FAT CONGRATUALTIONS IN SCORING THE HIGHEST IN THE SCHOOL ON THE PSAT!!!!!!!!!!

Kelly, yes! Start your own tradition and have your mom join you guys. I say there is no sense in prolonging the inevitable and since your sis isn't going to be around, now is a great time to have your mom start a new tradition with you.

kelly......sorry about your crappy weekend......and now the change in plans for christmas

emily....hope this week flies by, you can move on from the sadness of dh leaving, the anxiety of the moving will be over, you little man will turn one, and you can move onto the next phase of this holiday season, and the kids can start focusing on how soon dh will be home!!!!!! maybe get a calander ready for gweny/bradley to cross off all the days daddy has been away and how many days before he gets home........you are a superhero in my eyes.....you always seem to keep things so together even when the going is super tough!!!!!!!!!!!((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))

Thanks, Colleen! :bigarmhug: One of my girlfriends always makes a huge bulletin board for her kids when her DH is deployed. She puts pics of him on there, a calendar, and a world map so they can track where he is and the ports he visits. Then as he sends post cards she puts those on there as well. That is going to be our project after we get home from visiting my family for Christmas Biggrin And holy chit about that phone call! That is any parent's worst nightmare! Glad to hear she is safe and sound at school and :woohoo: for the highest psat score!!!! That is one amazing girl you have!!!

Nicole, glad to hear that the party turned out so well and yay for Christmas break!

I reeeeeeeally should be packing right now, just can't pull my bum up out of this chair....

Man oh man, Nicole, you are earning a break!!!

Colleen, what a fright - how hilarious (in hindsight) that she was absent due to being the best!! Congratulations on that, you have every right to be super proud (and need a super large drink). And yes, this cough is the pits, I have to wear a pad to bed so I don't wet my pants - something perhaps only the moms have to contend with for this particular virus.

Mel, we want a wii because it has more games that can include Anna. DH says he knows what he is getting...now to get him to do it, he is an eleventh-hour type of man.

Kelly, my folks started sleeping over on Christmas Eve after my MIL died. My brother always goes to Toronto to be with his wife's family for the holidays, so we are a small group but it has become our tradition - the kids LOVE having their grandparents there on Christmas morning! (Only downside, we don't have a guest room, so DH and I give them our bed and we sleep on the floor, LOL.) They only live about half an hour away but it saves the hassle and stress of commuting on a day when we would rather be in our pajamas and lay around eating, LOL.

On a completely other note, we are planning to get a dog (maybe at the end of next summer), so I will take an informal poll: what dog do you have/like the best or advise against? I already know what I want, but I am in the research stage so I am curious...

Thanks Peg and Shannon.

Shannon, he come home at the end of May.

Karina, my DH says that Newfoundlands are the best dogs ever. The do best in colder climates though and they are huge.... but they are really good with children. They had one when he was younger and they lived in Alaska. This dog was so sweet and emotional that when he got scolded he would go to the corner and cry real tears!

Morning ladies,

:bigarmhug: to all those who need them.

I just got back to this message and started this morning, pretty busy here.

I expect we'll pay around $45 for a tree plus tip and/or tax....I think that's what we paid last year and the year before.

We will get the tree next weekend, I like it nice and fresh for Christmas.

DH is going to Miami, if his flight isn't delayed, today. Just for a day or two.

I know girls are such a handful, but I love having a girl. I am nervous about a boy!

Coll, no tracking number yet, but she did email last night to say she was mailing out this afternoon and would email the tracking. There were a lot of other reasons that I am suspicious of this other than just the pics, and who knows, maybe the person that Candace dealt with 2 weeks ago, stole this ladies pics and she is totally legit. BUT we think she recognized C from the Boden deal and that is why she didn't respond. Plus, other than the names, the stories of these 2 women are too similar.

karina......i'm a big dog lover.......i dont' know why, but i can not stand little lap dog yappers.....JUST ME LADIES>..i'm an animal lover, but if i want an animal on my lap that animal of choice is a cat........and i like my dogs big.....i've owned a rottie, and i would own another.....i've owned an akita...NOPE , noway....very pecular breed....they are extremely loyal TO ONE!!!!!! it happened to be me.....and it was not fun at the end with a grumpy old biatch who only liked me and did NOT like the kids........funtimes......
and now i have a black lab........LOVE him......very FAMILY loyal!!! i can let him off his run when we are in the yard, and he just hangs and plays and runs and catches and fetches and he is fun.. he can be going completely phsyco running, and then instantly slow down as to not knock jack over , the dog is freakin amazing!!!!!! and when we go in, he goes right back on his run and plays and never barks......he is a good, good dog!!!! he still needs to sleep in his crate....but that is ok.....he will be 3 dec. 11th and he still gets into everything.........
i DO NOT allow my dogs to leave my kitchen......it is the only safety gate i own....i don't like dog hair on my furniture/floors, etc.......i don't like my stuff to smell like dog......doesn't mean i don't love him, but he has a room in the house, called the kitchen and he sleeps in his crate....locked......LOL!!!!!!!!

Second the lab vote! We just lost our lab...she was lovely. We are thinking of getting another...maybe a bouvier this time. My parents had a lovely Airedale terrier and currently have a Porteguese water dog. The terrier was great, very gentle and friendly but the water dog is very shy and can be a couch potato. There's a big difference in that breed between male and female though.

Candace - I just read your blog post and it sounds like you are in a great place to be taken care of. So nice that you have your mom for not only the physical part of your recovery, but the emotional side. I can't even imagine how hard this would be Sad Keep your chin up and remember that the really hard parts are over now!

So I have been doing this biggest loser weight loss challenge at work for three weeks now. And I have lost 8 lbs!!! I am so completely excited and feel tons better! I can see my waist again (now to work on toning ;-)!!

I also found out last week that my cholesterol is getting much better, even on the lowest dose of statins. It went from 501 to 362! I know that is still crazy high, but it is a big deal to me. I am sure the weight loss has something to do with it too. Ten more pounds to go and I will be happy with my weight.

Happy Monday ladies!

First bolded: I can't tell you how many times we've had the exact same argument. Too many to count. I've told him plenty of times that it's not fair that I spend my weekend cleaning while he spends his lying around. I work just as hard as he does - I feel like I work MUCH harder than he does now given our current situation. Why is it ok that he sits and does nothing and I am constantly doing some chore or another?? When the HELL is my break?? His response is always the same - "no one is making you do it". Like not cleaning is even an option...

He's grown up a lot in taking care of the kids - he does close to his fair share there. But the cleaning thing is always a sore subject. I've threatened a cleaning service before - he thinks it's a waste of $$ that could be better used elsewhere. I don't DISAGREE with that...if I had some help. But at this stage of the game, it's not worth the same argument over and over - I'd rather just spend the $$.

Second bolded: Awesome job on the weight loss!! What are you doing? I neeeeeeed to get back into the gym or some kind of exercise routine. It's been since I found out I was pregnant with Lana since I've done any sort of real exercise! I've been thinking about picking up running again...maybe work toward a 1/2 marathon sometime next year. I've got a good friend here who is a runner...but I think I'd rather start from scratch with someone. Any interest??

Mel, that does sound fishy. Sad I hope it's not a scam though.

In FL, we paid around $45 for a 7-8 foot tree. This year, we got one from a little local farm place and only paid $20 for a 7 foot tree!! They had some more expensive ones but our space in this rental is pretty limited, so we needed on one the skinnier side. It's a beautiful tree though - I was shocked when I saw the tag!

This is what I was going to suggest too!

Tracy, hope your DH gets his head out of his butt! With all you do, you need a cleaning lady AND a supportive, helpful husband. You should totally schedule next weekend as your weekend to do something you like...and give him the list of chores that need to be done WHILE taking care of the kids.

He will take the kids and give me some "me" time occasionally...but I could write out a detailed list of what needs to be done. Heck, I could let him pick and choose what he can do off of that list...and it still won't get done. I don't know how to change this about him. I honestly don't - like I said before, it's been the one thing that we have always argued about for years. I tell him its disrespectful, it's inconsiderate - it's downright lazy. He doesn't agree. He does not get it. I don't know.

We've always had big mutts. They often don't have the health problems that purebreds have (in my experience) and we've always had luck with them being friendly too. One thing to take into consideration is that amount of shedding. We have a golden retriever/german shepard mutt. he's the sweetest dog in the world - fabulous with the kids, friends, etc. But when his undercoat gets thick and starts to shed - ugh, it's horrible. You might want to look into one of the lesser shedding breeds!

My personal fav is a newfoundland, they're sooo docile and amazing with kids, very very gentle, very loyal. They're not high energy at all, but downside, they are drooly, HUUUUGE and very hairy. They're probably one of the best to get with kids. We don't have one, but i want one. Smile We have a lab cross, and she's great & all, but labs are very high energy as pups, but very smart and easy to train. (I'm still working on the training thing...)

So, can I just vent for a minute? DH really gets under my skin when it comes to the pool. The man is NOT dumb, he's a freaking engineer for crying out loud. He works with complicated precision machines and robots. But he refuses to learn anything about this pool and not 'knowing' your pool equipment is not a smart move. Considering any small mistake runs $500+. I just don't get why I have to tell him the same crap over and over and over. And why he can't do something 'that' way and why, over and over and over. Ok I'm done. Thanks.

Mel, your DH and Tracy's DH need to talk. Sorry Mama. Can I say that I think its weird that you are talking pools in December? I know you are much further south than me...but I find it weird...we're done with pools in September around here, lol. I don't know how I'd survive in Cali, no winter would be SO strange!

LOL, we were done swimming months ago. We have a heater, but it is OUTRAGEOUS to run. Our pool is close to 40,000 gallons so it requires a lot of gas to keep it warm once the nights cool off. But, the days are so hot that we have to keep it open and running until the daytime temps consistently drop below 50, otherwise we would be an algae factory that would never get cleaned come spring.

Nicole

Wait, I meant to ask about this last week and forgot. Do you currently have foster kids or are you getting forster kids?

So Mel, I thought you didn't actually close your pool - are you going to actually close it this year. I kept mine open late and it's still been closed for months. Still could've used it though the way this crazy weather has been!

My budget still has a little leeway, but I have to say, there are several things that get cut before my cleaning lady and my pool boy.

Feel better Candace! Do you have a kindle or nook ap on your iPad? Use iBooks? Are you up for reading anything or not really? Watching any good trashy daytime TV?

Candace....:bighug:

Man, you ladies are into big dogs... I will continue researching, but I don't want to admit what I have my heart set on now, LOL!! I think our cat would kill it if she sat on it... I need to wait until Anna is at least 4...

Nicole, WTF?? Did nobody warn you, is this in writing anywhere? I'd be irate!!

My DH is a last-minute person, and add to that, he will tell me basically "yes, dear" to get me off his back, with no intention to necessarily follow through. It drives me crazy but I have largely learned to work around it. When it counts (like I was down with the flu on the weekend), he picks up the slack on the main things (feed the kids, take Anna to ballet). This does not mean they will go to bed on time or even be wearing pajamas, but they are happy, safe, and usually having a ball (who doesn't love Mr. Lax and Loose? Only me, I think.). But I am still waiting for the Christmas lights to go up on the outside tree - pretty soon there will be no point and/or we will be under three feet of snow and the job won't be so easy! And where is our Christmas letter, which I wrote at the beginning of last week and he was supposed to bring home 75 copies? Oops, forgot. I have now changed the date twice, LOL.

No we close the pool, as in drain it below the skimmers and returns, blow out the lines and add anti-freeze to them, we just don't COVER the pool.

Karina, do tell what you want. I was a big dog only person until I met a really cool chihuahua. I also had a fabulous shar-pei (medium sized 30 lbs) that lived 14 years. NEITHER of these dogs would I recommend for a home with children under 12, unless you have the capability to ALWAYS be the alpha dog.

Well put,me in three small dog group. We have 2 small dogs. The best with the kids and three sweetest is our shih tzu. She puts up with everything from the kids. She doesn't shed. This is the dog that slept on my belly when I was pg with Belle. Shes a sweet girl, but not the smartest.

My parents had a c0cker spaniel mix. He was the sweetest, smartest dog I've been around. Loved water, shedded horribly.

We also have amaltese and a maltese pom mix. the mix was sweet until he got picked on by some kids at the park, then was iffy toward kids. The full maltese is a sweet dog, but small so easy to injure.

Don't have much time right now just getting home

:bigarmhug: Candace hope your mom is there by now and you are feeling better!

Landon's ear infection is still not gone Sad what is this like week 6? We are going back to the ENT next Wednesday. I love that man, he has really helped Landon since he was 3 days old...even if I wanted to hate him for the breathing machine for 3 months

never ends?

Doctor still noticed a wheeze (which I knew). Landon was basically CLIMBING the walls. Let the albuterol be OVER SOON!
