And that is really sweet about Noelle soothing Micah. :biglove:

As for dressing, Anna has been able to dress herself for a while now, she can even do up the zipper on her jacket. But Theo is nearly two years older and won't even try his zipper. They are just all different.

Candace big hugs and lots of love to you girl. :bigarmhug: :bigarmhug: I'm sorry you are still so weak, I really hope you are able to give Wade his bottle tonight.

Ruth whoohooo for some alone time, even if it is doing a budget! But you are out in public with other adults alone!! Dirol

Cristina sorry you are missing DH, but glad he's home soon! And yes, how is the itching?

Kelly glad Owen's man bits are good now!

Colleen so glad Thunder is doing so much better! Loved the sunporch pics, too cute the dude under the tree lol! And LOL at Jack and the sink!

Peg, I'm going to have to check out the snapfish thing being nicer!

For wiping, I do it 100%, I tried to let Colby have a go a few times, but I'm not into cleaning $hit off of hands lol! He's dressed himself for a while now, zipped and buttoned for a while....but then he absolutely cannot trace letters properly or even remotely close, and other things I'm sure other kids are good at....I think different kids are good at different things at different times!

Had to go shopping for some things and everyone is in freak out mode because we are supposed to get 5 or more inches of snow tonight....I guess because that last snow no one did much and we got jimmied up....made for a fun shopping trip, the idiots lol! Every year we get snow and every year people get dumber about it!

sorry julie...but i think shutterfly is better Smile ......and yes kelly and ruth....very time consuming....good thing i have a job that gets fairly slow around the holidays or i'd never get it done...lol

here's a link if anyone is interested in seeing my disney album....not sure if it will work though

Ruth...yay for some peace and quiet time...soak it up sista!!!!!

wiping......sometimes we do it sometimes alyssa does it.....we do it all the time for poop....and she does get red privates sometimes so then we step in then and make sure she's dry

dressing.....she's good at her undies and tag in back but that's about it....everything else she still needs help with!!!

ETA: please don't look at my fat arse gut in the pictures...i have lost 16 pounds since then Smile it's ashame i didn't diet before we went

DETA: sorry...took the link out...wouldn't work...oh well

candace, i hope your giving wade his bottle right now!!!!(((HUGS)))))

julie........well.....the people in mass are just as stupid when it comes to snow.....we're even pretty bad with just freakin rain.......but ya......western mass there is a chance of snow.....where i live.....noway.....the water temp is way to warm to let it snow....but because the meteorologist said there is a chance of snow.....even if it is 75 miles away......people were acting like idiots here, too..

i just got in from more christmas shopping.....phew......i love this time of year!!!as far as dressing goes.......abby can get completely dressed down to shoes and coat on, but she can't do any buttons/snaps/zippers......but we have been working on it since before potty training so for a year now.......i have taught her how to lay her shirt with the belly side down and that is how it goes on, and i have taught her how the tag of her panties and pants goes on the ground....she puts her own socks on , but she only wears those low little ankle socks....and the bottom is pink and the top is white...where her toes goes is pink.....so it's easy!!!! but it has taken a lot of patience and trials and errors and tantrums to get to this point......she didn't just get it........i've been working with her every day for a year!!!!!!LOL!!!!!!!
and she's in the same boat as colby...the girl can't color, she can't trace letter, she has not ONE iota of interest.......but she likes to go outside, she she knows she can't go out in her pajama's!!!!! she's a smart little cookie!!!!LOL!!!

I go back to work in 3 months today Sad but that also means I may be able to participate again LOL

good morning.......
just read an email from lucy's school.....they are now banning all peanut/tree nut products from the school, come jan. 3rd(so when the kids return from christmas break).......there are 27 kids in the school(k-4) that have severe peanut allergies.....and the they are finding that the peanut free zones are not safe enough...there was an instance where a child was walking back to his classroom from the cafeteria.....and must have encountered a smear of peanut butter somewhere in the hallway(probably the tile wall) and had a severe reaction...

Colleen, that is scary for that kid. Peanut butter is banned in our daycare. Sometimes, I feel annoyed, but it's for the safety of the kids, and I wouldn't want to know that my peanut butter sandwich hurt a kid...

Candace- :bigarmhug: I hope you are feeling a little stronger today and were able to cuddle Wade.

I am feeling strange today. Just got a huge wave of bad feelings, like bleak feelings. I'm completely off all meds right now, so maybe that's part of it.

Wow, Colleen! 27 is a lot - out of how many total? I know it's inconvenient since PB&Js are just easy staples, but I'm sure this will be a great relief to the parents of those allergic kids. Peanut allergies are just downright scary. If I give Noelle something with peanut butter, or eat some myself, if I'm not really careful to keep it super contained, Brian will totally get a random hive on his face. Happens every time. I'm afraid to think of how he might react if he actually consumed some or came into more direct contact with it. I've considered making our house totally peanut free, but Noelle is really good about knowing her brothers can't have eggs or peanuts, because they're 'lurgic'. lol

Oh man, an hour to myself was heavenly. Even if it was all spent paying bills and doing our pathetic budget. I felt so bad for DH, though, because he said the kids were awful - neither one of the boys took their afternoon nap, even though they were both exhausted. Not quite sure what happened there, but at least I didn't have to deal with the crankys myself!! Smile

Hey Colleen, random question for you. When you do a fluoride rinse before bed, do you rinse your mouth out with water afterwards or not? I know you're not supposed to eat or drink for 30 minutes after, but I never know if I should just spit it all out or spit it out and then rinse my mouth with water.

Candace- hugs girl

Josh cant dress himself. He cant wipe either. I still have to do it all. As for when he is at school, I dont know what they would do but he doesnt poop at school and rarely pees. He hates uaing the rest room in public. In the last three weeks he has had three accidents at school.

Pj- how is Landon doing today?

I got some Christmas shopping done. I ended up getting Sofia a doll house. Then I got home and recieved a phone call that someone stole my debit card info. Second time in three months. I am so pissed. Cabt figure out whes is happening at.

Kat, not good! I can't believe it happened again!

Colleen, wow, 27 kids, that seems like a lot!

Ruth, not Colleen, but the ped dentist I took Logan to said to rinse with the mouthwash and nothing else in the mouth all night if possible, so that means do not rinse with water afterwards, so the flouride can sit on the teeth as long as possible.

Oh no Kat, what the hell!!! Is this the card that you totally cancelled and got a new one? Oh good grief, I'm sorry!

Whoohooo Ruth for a good time alone, and yes, that DH had to handle things himself, which I do believe you do all the time! Smile Not colleen, but I think you aren't supposed to drink or eat anything, including water, after flouride.

Colleen, that's scary about the kid with the reaction! I do understand why they have to go nut free, Colby's school has been that way since last year...no nuts of any kind allowed, only seed butters, and food where things are processed in a nut facility aren't even allowed even if there's no nuts in the food itself. Crazy!

Cristina I'm sorry girl. :bigarmhug: I'm sure a lot of it does have to do with the meds, but it doesn't make it any easier. I hope it passes soon.

Morning!

AHHH a fresh start on BBB... love these!

DH came home with a bag of stuff from Toys R Us.. said he felt bad that the one thing Owen asked Santa for we didn't get *insert major roll eyes* the kid is getting SO MUCH STUFF!
He wants "Dinosaur Train".. ask and you shall recieve LOL I am feeling the need to get Everly something else now.. in the form of a a cute outfit from Gymboree Biggrin I need to hit the mall either today or tomorrow.

Everly has started to tell me she has pooped not with words but she will walk over and have a look of disgust or frown and point to her diaper and I say " Everly do you need a diaper change?" she says "YEAH!" WOW I have two toddlers and no longer have a baby Sad

Kat - jeezus! again?! I hear of it happening a lot around the holidays but WOW!

Colleen- 27 kids is a lot! The pedi told me not to give E peanuts.. and I responded with WELL she loves the peanut butter oat bars from Trader Joes and eats them almost daily LOL sooooooo I think we are ok with that!
I think it's reasonable to ask parents to not send PB... sucks for the kids though!

:bigarmhug: Cristina, I know that feeling and haven't been on meds since 1998. I still occasionally think it would be so nice to just be dead, then I could rest in peace. I have to fight that feeling off...which often explains the overdose on sugar and carbs, but you do what you can for your family.

Pfp......

I understand the concern with peanut allergies...but what about my kid that has a milk and eggh allergy....egg being pretty severe.....should I make then ban milk and egg from school...Ty has a severe reaction if he touches egg or someone kisses him after eating eggs
No..I just teach him and Alyssa what's safe and not and make sure that anyone taking care of him
Knows the deal

Peanuts and any other allergen is out in the real world ever day..when you walk through Walmart our target its there...its everywhere..you can't ban it from EVERYWHERE

They're daycare does not have a peanut ban...Alyssa eats peanut butter every day and I really got to get her to eat something else because I know its going to be an issue when she gets into kindergarten...but she won't won't eat a child cheese sandwich only a grilled she and she won't eat lunch meat do I have to figure something else o

the 27 kids is for the whole elementary.....k-grades 4.......so if i had to guess.....i'd say maybe like 600 kids..........and i agree........i think it is a total sign of the times and it is what it should be........i'm sure since it made it into a mass email, it was probably a pretty severe reaction......i can't imagine if it was my kid.........trying to get big buildings to conform to something so simple as NO peanuts allowed, what a freakin relief for all those parents, teachers, school nurses.......i'm sure noone wanted to be jabbing little johnny with an epipen......and praying that it helped!!!!!!! seriously......total sign of the times.......

i had another eye opener last night....i have never skiied with a helmet......ever.....my kids have never skiied with a helmet........well......now there are most of the college mountains won't allow you to ski with out them......so we are buying helmets for sarah and max with their equipment......total sign of the times....i guess i might have to break down and buy a helmet for me and dan , too.......lOL..........we haven't yet!!!!!LOL!!!!!!!

peg, it's a tough call on the where to ban/when to ban. that's why i think something severe must have happened to a kid......they said it happened in route from the cafeteria back to his classroom......so i have no idea......i do think these kids are taught/disciplined/and reinforced in their classrooms/cafeteria's now a days.........i know for lucy, her classroom is peanut free.....so it wasn't really an issue with them changing the rules.....lucy will only bring fruits/veggies to classroom. she hasn't even experienced the cafeteria yet......next year!!!!!!!LOL!!!!!!

i'm gonna be the grumpy old lady on the mountain throwing a tantrum on wearing a helmet......i don't wear a helmet when i ride a bike.......LOL.....but i think the lady at the ski shop last night said that it was for 18 and under.....but then she said the college kids on the team had to wear a helmet.......
i'm not one for change either........LOL!!!!!!! but i will do what i have to do, but not quietly!!!!!LOL!!!!!!

Colleen, I never skiied with a helmet until I skiied right into a rock. Ugh, I had to get stitches on my mouth right at the first aid station and I cracked a tooth. After that I would wear them. I just assumed it was a law for kids though. You know what I think is so dangerous? That you can drink and ski! That always seemed so risky to me!

Thanks for all the support guys, I guess it's just one of those days.

Hey all! I'm having a good day. Getting all my marks in order before the final exam. Facility services is completing my repairs and all my waste went out this morning! Yay! DH has the flu, so I've been sleeping the spare room. So nice to sleep through the night. And its a sunny Friday for me, I'm on vacation tomorrow! Yay!

I'll try to remember to scan in that picture of the 5 kids that DH had taken a few weeks ago for picture Thursday...its truly aweful!

Christina, hope you are feeling better!
Colleen...mmmm...must make some apple sauce!
Emily C3, hope you are almost done packing...you move soon right?
Candace, hope you are having pain free day!
Peg, hope you get your link working! WTG on the weightloss. I'm starting a new immunosuppressant tonight, hoping it takes care of any residual problems. The PE was the result of the IV therapies I receive, not much I can do to prevent that. So, we're going ahead as my health is a chronic condition, so I may as well get on with things!
Ruth, watched Food Inc last night and I must say I remember you talking about it. YUCK! I seriously think we are going to be changing a lot of the food we eat. We have been changing a lot of our dairy and veggies already...but now meat is in the act as well. We are talking about buying half a free-range cow next year.
Kat, I can't believe someone got your information again. Its got to be a store you frequent.
Kelly, WTG Everly!

Peg, you mentioned your weight loss was chiefly the result of counting calories. You have some sort of app for that, on your little magic fairy computer (whatever the handheld things are called, I've never used one, lol) - is there a site on the regular giant elephant desk computer that you recommend to help with this? I'm sure someone has pointed me there before but I am the world's laziest dieter. Only, this past week I lost 7 lbs due to illness and I feel so much better without that extra weight that I don't want to slip back into my old shlumpy face-stuffing ways and thought I could help myself by paying attention to what every bite adds up to in a way that would be motivating. I can try, right?

Random: a pat on my own back for going and putting gas in the car by myself today. I am 44 years old and it was my first time, lol. I was pretty nervous too, what a dork!

LOL, I'm pretty sure all the gas stations around here are self-serve. I have certainly never seen one with full service. DH was getting tired of having to fill the car for me, so it is one more thing I can check off on my graduation towards becoming an expert driver, lol.

Once Dh went to Oregon on business so I went to too for the heck of it. and I guess there you are not allowed to pump your own gas? I was speechless I had never seen this before!
so strange!

So I am getting paid in spades from E today .. no sooner had I typed I had gotten a bunch done before she even napped did she begin the refusal to nap at all.. going 2.5 hours of trying.. I am now in danger of her napping through Owen's pickup time.. I have my mom on call to get him for me.. but that means he will be with her until DH gets him after work... so I won't see him till 6 or 6:30 Sad he loves being there so no worries on that front but still everytime I do it I miss him terribly and feel slightly guilty... but the child needs a nap!

1:15 now.. *sigh*

At what age should a toddler be able to answer a yes or no question? I'm worried about M. She was a late talker, but then exploded. But, she can't answer a yes or no question, couldn't before she talked either. If you ask her a question that requires an answer, she tells you answer, like if you hold up a shoe and say "M, what is this?" she says "shoe". But if you ask her "are you finished eating?" she says "finished eating?" So then I ask "do you want more?" she says "want more". So, then I say "M, say yes or no" and she says "yes or no". Um, are you still hungry? "still hungry." "M, what's that?" (point to the dog) "That's a dog."
Seriously? What's up with that? Is this 'normal'? Abigail was answering yes or no questions with a nod or a shake of the head like 9 months ago. Jax answered yes or no questions pretty young as well.

Everly is 15 months and nods yes or no to a question.
Everly do you want more milk nods no
I try to give her more she pushes it away and shakes head no ..
So I know she understands.. just can't verbalize it.

I knew remember that, but could she actually answer a question that wasn't yes or no? And did she walk around telling you things that you were doing? I just don't understand how she can 'talk', not just parrot, but does not comprehend yes or no.

Kelly, she is 2 years 3 months

i don't really remember the age that they could actually say yes or no.......but jack says no to every ? asked.....jack has no words yet at all....he has different tones/gestures.....that's it. doesn't even say momma.....he can say the sound, but won't repeat yet. 16 months saturday....if she has lots of words....i wouldn't worry too much on the order of her words......that is a language comprehension...just keep giving her the option of saying yes or no, and i bet she will get it real soon.

Coleen, yes exactly, a comhrehension thing. She has plenty of words, even if they did come late. But her comprehension is WAY behind. I suppose that is just because she talked so late. Thinking about it, that is pretty typical of a speech and language delay. Guess her expressive language is just developing faster than her receptive. Thanks for pointing that out.

He!! Mel, half the time when I ask yes or no questions I get a blank stare and Miles scored off the charts for verbal ability, lol.

It's been an incredibly long day. Sorry, didn't read anything but this page.

I just wanted to comment on the convo from a couple of days ago re: coloring and tracing letters. Tyler has ZERO interest too. I work with him a little bit every day on tracing letters and numbers and it's like pulling teeth. He tells me it's too hard, even when I think he's really trying, he struggles. But, I found an app on the iPhone called Pre-K ABC - it's got a pic of a monkey on it. It's got limited letters for free...$0.99 for full. It gives them the letter, has them connect the dots to trace the letter, etc. He's done really, really well with it. I figure it's a step in the right direction, but I still worry a little about him b/c to me, it's more that he doesn't know how to hold the crayon. He doesn't bear down...he kind of feathers the crayon across the page, if that makes any sense. Anyway, just wanted to share the app.

Yep, THIS is why I have never been skiing. Not once. Ever. And I grew up right next to a ski resort. LOL! I am too much of a klutz...and I'd be in the trees regularly. Or break something important.
