Thanks everyone, and sorry for the whining... I don't blame myself for what happened to Brian, it was just hard to be confronted so dramatically with how fragile life is and how it can change so fast. He's still a bit 'off' - woke up with a low-grade fever this morning and didn't sleep well last night. He's also a big congested, so I guess he's fighting something in addition to being a little constipated and teething and maybe a little sore still from his fall. Fun times over here, as you can imagine. lol

Candace, I don't know what the lympho-whatever is, but if Peg says to call you doctor, CALL YOUR DOCTOR. Smile

Nicole, it's crazy how much you got done over the weekend!!

Colleen, kup about the bloodwork... and i do not envy you spending all that time in the car with everyone!

Crazy weekend over here... don't know if anyone saw, but we got some bad storms here Saturday night. No one had any clue it was coming, so I was grocery shopping with 2 of the kids... halfway back to the car, the wind suddenly picked up and turned my umbrella inside out and took it out of my hand and threw it across the parking lot. And then the hail started. I got the kids in the car as fast as I could, but we all got drenched and I got pounded in the back with softball-sized hail while i was buckling them in and it really stung! our car at home has a bunch of hail damage on the back half - the front half was in the garage. but amazingly the van didn't have any damage even though the hail was bigger where i was and there wasn't the protection of half the garage there. lol i did pick up something on the way home that gave me a flat tire, but didn't realize it until i got home. our neighborhood looks awful, but it's mostly minor damage on the headache level. some poor guy had both his front and rear windshields busted. some of our gutters are pretty beat up and the frame around a window needs to be replaced... but no one was hurt around here... one fatality downtown from a collapsed tent. Sad

we put noelle to bed last night without a dipe and she woke up dry this morning!!!! :woohoo: DH made her pee before we went to bed... hopefully we can be done with dipes for her forever... her behavior has been horrid lately, but we're cracking down and she'sbeen losing lots of privileges. ihope this phasegoes by quickly... gotta go

I sent an email out this morning to my colleagues explaining that I have laryngitis and not to call me as I cannot make myself understood on the phone. My phone has been ringing off the hook. Seriously? What do they want me to do, grunt at them?

Nicole - ugh..sorry for the grunts and whispers. Hope you feel better soon.

Candace - Did you call the doc yet? Do it!

Mel - sorry for the Monday morning.

Colleen - glad you loved the soup and the kiddos did too....I'm with peg....doesn't sound good to me, but then again, I'm picky when it comes to veggies...very picky.

I'm home today...sitter is out of town. Quite nice to sleep in when I was supposed to be going to work. Grace and I went bumming, out to lunch, and then I started ironing the fabric for the hems on the kitchen curtains.

Okay I have to tell you I laughed and felt like puking at the same time....so Colby only slept 9 hours last nite so I told him he had to lay in bed til I came and got him....I still rock him before bed for a couple minutes. So he puts his legs around my waist and hugs me, putting his head on my shoulder...he's talking to me and his hips are moving back and forth....I say in the calmest voice I can muster...WHAT are you doing??????? He starts giggling and says, my penis is tickling me, my penis tickles, hahahaha! Okay, time to get up...so he sticks his hands down his pants and says MOM, look how big it got!!! Ruth, I did not watch one minute of live tv this weekend, so I did not know you had nasty storms. A softball size hail hit you in the back and is 'stung'? Um, how did you avoid having a bone broke? WOW. I won't ask why your car wasw only half in the garage. ROFL

Julie, ROFL sorry to laugh, but boys start so early with that stuff. I hope Miss D feels better soon.

Colleen, how did the bloodwork go for Max? I hope you have a calm afternoon in the burb and all the little sleep the whole time!

Kat, thinking of you and Josh today.

Kerri, Belle looks beautiful in her new skirt!

Mel, I hope your afternoon was not as hectic as your morning.

Nicole, oh no! I hope you get your voice back and feel better soon!

Peg, I got sucked into those dang hunger games books too! Hope you enjoy book 3.

Candace, yes, please call the doc!

Ruth, I read about the hail! That is horrible. I am glad you and the kids made it home safe, how scary!

Kelly, I hope your headache goes away. Good idea to put the kale in the smoothie.

Speaking of kale, I just made kale chips Smile I practically ate the whole dang batch now I have a kale hangover. I thought they were good. I am going to try to make Colleen's kale soup next time I buy some, but I have to admit, I have no clue what linguica or chiricco is.... I am going to have to google it.

so let's suppose you don't have a Trader Joe's near you... how much would you be willing to pay for a lot of:

1) mini TJ's brand Reese's peanut butter cups
2) chocolate covered potato chips
3) chocolate covered toffee popcorn?

It's actually remarkable that even half of it was in. lol We're still not used to having a garage and apparently the idea that it can shelter a car is too much for our tiny brains. I can't even tell you the number of times we've had an ice or snow storm and had to scrape BOTH cars because we're too stupid to have put one of them in the garage. Since no one saw this storm coming, that's probably why it was partially inside. ROFL

Julie, ROFL Wow. That's probably going to be Brian. Micah hardly ever messes with himself.

Emily, have I told you yet how much I love your siggy and how jealous I am that my kids have never seen the ocean? And I can't be sure, but I think I picked up outfits just like the one JD is wearing at a consignment sale this weekend.

Oh, speaking of consignment sales - I went to the one that our local twins moms club does and it's WAY better than any of the others I've been to around here. The prices were very reasonable for the most part. I'm thinking about joining their club... one of the members said that at their monthly dinner meetings, they always have a table for moms of toddlers... might be nice to commiserate. lol I'm definitely going to start selling there - I can keep 80% of what I make and I get to shop early. I haven't seen anything better than that around here. And since it's a smaller sale, ALL of the bigger stuff was gone. While I was waiting in line, the last stroller was wheeled out. And all the cute clothes were gone, along with most of the toys and equipment. I have to admit, it was sad to skip over all the baby toys. Sad

OK, time to get ready for dance. Both boys are still asleep. Noelle's been up since 5:30am when she wet the bed. She had JUST gone back to sleep when her stupid owl turned to green. I hate that owl. lol

Morning all!

Here you go Ruth.. took literally like 5 mins to make tops.. and was delish! I also had everything on hand so it was an easy surprise for Dh Smile
http://www.laurenslatest.com/

Double Dark Chocolate Pudding
yield: 4 servings

Ingredients:
1/2 cup granulated sugar
3 tablespoons cornstarch, sifted
1/4 cup 100% cacao unsweetened cocoa powder such as scharffen berger, sifted
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 cup fat free half & half
1 cup milk
2 oz. chopped unsweetened dark chocolate {99% cacao} such as scharffen berger
1/4 teaspoon vanilla bean paste or 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
whipped cream
chopped dark chocolate for garnish

Directions:
In a small saucepan, whisk sugar, cornstarch, cocoa powder and salt together until combined. Slowly stream in half & half and milk, whisking to prevent lumps. Place over medium high heat and whisk until mixture starts to steam. Sprinkle in chopped dark chocolate and continue stirring until it has melted and the pudding has bubbled and thickened. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla bean paste. Pour into 4 servings dishes. Place plastic wrap directly onto pudding and refrigerate until completely chilled, approximately 2 hours. Remove plastic wrap and top with sweetened whipped cream and dark chocolate.

So maybe dh can't measure...? Cadence is 41.5" and 44lbs! Just exactly on the curve she has been on her whole life though and doc said that was fine. I opted for no shots. We'll have to get 4 next year before Kindy. I declined the booster of Prevnar (it is a 13 strain vax now instead of 7 like when our Blossoms were little). Doc was fine with that.

I started this hours ago. Gonna post and be back in a bit.

We were offered the new Prevnar too and I declined. My pedi said she wouldn't give it to her kids either if she was't a doctor and exposed to more stuff.

"gottharf" wrote:

Wow, Peg, that sucks. Sad One of our friends was diagnosed with MS several years ago and she seems to be doing just fine. Her mother had it so they caught it extremely early and I think maybe it's more treatable today?? Not sure, but that is a whole lot for one family all at once. Sad

I win mother of the day award today. I took all the kids to the park and Brian fell off the playground equipment. I was right there yelling at him and trying to stop him from climbing backwards down what his tiny brain must have considered a single step but was really a 3+ foot drop. He was JUST out of my reach. Sad I've decided there can't be much worse than watching your child fall more than 3 feet and be completely powerless to stop it. He fell sideways onto the equivalent of a metal grate, so he has an odd-shaped lump on his head. But it didn't bleed at all, surprisingly. I called his pedi right away, not knowing what else to do, and since he had fallen such a long way, they wanted me to bring him in to just make sure he was okay. He's fine, thank God. But I'm not sure I am. Sad I have been so nervous about taking them all out by myself... but it's not like I was halfway across the playground dealing with Micah or Noelle - i was right there.

Karrie, that's crazy! I hope they catch him soon.

Way to grow, Cady Mae!!! So it wasn't traumatic for her at all? I think you've mentioned her not liking the doctor before...

I hope everyone gets better really fast, Julie!!!! Would it be possible for your grandma to postpone the trip for a few days?

Mel, Noelle has always made a point to make a mess in a different part of the house while I'm cleaning up something. And her brothers have just followed suit. Well, it's mostly Brian. Micah just sticks with his cars and trucks. lol

Kelly, my kids generally eat the most at breakfast and progressively less as the day goes on (which kinda makes sense if you think about it - why do we all have our biggest meal at dinner when we're not far from bed and no chance to burn off all those calories??). My neighbor's kid regularly only eats a bite or two of food at dinner. I'm guessing she's just not hungry and looking for some attention. Both my boys toss food from their trays when they're done eating and impatiently waiting for me to get them down.

OK, I have a crapload of stuff to do.

Poor Brian! Is he ok now?

Julie, OMG, I was pissing myself laughing. That is too funny. DJ hasn't shown much interest at this point. We shall see. He's just into underwear and so now asks what its called. He thinks the word penis is hilarious. Boys.

Ruth, so glad you guys are okay. I saw that storm on the news. I think its a great idea to join the MOMs group. I bet you will meet a lot of people that can totally understand where you are coming from and maybe get some playdates/babysitting contacts out of it too.

Kat, how are you feeling about things with Josh today? WTG Sophia!

Kelly, that recipe is not helping my diet! Hope you sister's dream guy meets your approval Wink

Colleen, add me to the no idea what she is talking about list. I don't even know what kale is...but I'm thinking its green and leafy. One of those bitter greens that I don't like, right?

So, DH and I moved all our furniture into Alicia's room last night and started getting that room ready to reno. We're not doing to much, I'm building built in drawers to the part of the overhang (we have an A-frame with lots of "extra" dormer room) and we have to patch the really bad drywall job - the previous owners put up the drywall tape and then painted - you can see every joint. The closet needs a complete overhaul, but I'm leaving that for later. I'm totally cheating on the drawers and using an old dresser that I'm cutting down and mounting in the wall Smile

I'm so sorry for Max! Sad You are NOT a bad mom, Colleen. Who would have thought? It's not like you were ignoring his symptoms... you told us and none of us thought of lyme, so if you're a bad mom then we all are (and we're not!). Do they know how soon he'll start feeling better?

Mel, thinking of you guys today...

Poor Max. Hope he feels better soon! You are not a bad Mom Colleen! Can't believe the only symptom was a swollen knee...I would totally have written that off as orthopedic (jumping off barns!)

Anyone ever made roman blinds? Are they relatively easy? They look pretty easy, but I really haven't sewn in years.

Colleen You are far from a bad mom. That was not very much in the way of symtopms to go on. Could have happened to anyone.

Nicole- I am feeling better today. DH wants to keep the appointment with the second doctor I made. There was a second doctor because I was originally supposed to have Josh see this one in late June, but found another on to see him in early June. I agree to get a second opinion. He just wants to make sure that our bases are covered and that the doctor made an accurate diagnosis.

So after the poop on the potty, Sofia peed in her diaper all day today. One step forward, two steps back. We will get this. LOL.

Mel- hope today went well. Cant wait to hear from you.

Kat - A second opinion can't hurt.

Colleen - how's Max feeling? Hope the abx kick in soon!

Mel - Anxious to hear from you!

1. How do I change my privacy settings on FB when posting in a group? I posted in a local group I'm a part of (asking for ENT recommendations) and my Mom called and asked me why. I'm afraid to post anything on the April board now.

2. Had Miles's well visit today. Before I said anything the doc said Miles sounded funny and asked me if he snored. So we got a referral to an ENT. I also asked for a referral to a developmental pedi - she said she'd want him to see him first and let him order a neuro exam if he thought it was necessary. She said nothing she saw in Miles necessitated referrals at all, so... But, she wants me to get the ENT thing taken care of first because apparently it's very common for kids to be diagnosed with ADHD or something when it turns out they just weren't getting good enough sleep at night.

Also, he got his eyes checked (with some new fangeled machine). Literally, as the nurse was saying that his eyesight was perfect he walked into a wall. I had to ask if she was sure, lol.
