Good for you exercising, Ruth! Lots of my friends are running marathons/half marathons...not even on my radar screen!! But glad you were able to break out those running shoes from last September. Wink I was wondering what carseat you had that Brian outgrew it already, but you still had him in the carrier? IMPRESSIVE!

Julie, :bigarmhug: on Colby's sleep = did you see Ruth's question re: the probiotic...wonder if it is worth another shot? I am tired just thinking about how little he sleeps.

Happy Birthday, Abigail. I LOVE your new outfit. Esp that top one. SO cute. Smile Hope you get everything accomplished, Mel.

Colleen and Emily, I was lurking a little the past few days and loved your beach pictures!!! Oh, and Mel, how are you feeling today?

Emily (ms) - your fundraiser sounded great! Good job!!!! You are gonna have all sorts of free time now (yea right)! Wink

Colleen, JD is 100% off the bottle! Now he asks for his "pup" instead. I cannot believe how tall your girls are! Especially Abby!!

Julie, how did Colby do last night?

Mel, happy birthday to Miss Abigail!!!!! :cake:

Ruth, WTG on the workout! I think the Rock n Roll Marathon/Half Marathon series rolls through your area later on this year. You can do it!!

Swimming lessons again this evening..... I have a feeling Gweny is not going to want to have anything to do with it again. Hopefully her dad will be able to call this morning and he can talk her into it. She listens to him more than she listens to me anyway.

Hi Candace! You posted while I was typing my post so I didn't see it. How are you feeling these days? Are you still doing your PT?

Emily, I need to schedule an appt for this week. I guess it will be on Friday. I'd say my arm is about 75% better than it was a few weeks ago though, so that is good!

Maybe tell Gweny she needs to learn to swim so she can go swimming with her daddy when he gets home!?

Ooh, yeah, forgot to comment on how tall Abby is! Cadence is in some 6's, but it is because she has her mama's butt/legs...she needs the room, not the length. Smile

morning....

happy bday abigail!!!!!!! good luck with the ot eval.....and sorry abigail has PSCS (poor second child syndrome) ......tyler is so freakin needy that alyssa has PFCS and not by choice!!!!

wow....6's already.....we are in 5's...and some 4 shorts still fit!!!!

WTg with your workout ruth...awesome!!!

candace...how was the beach...did you have good weather??? hope it was better than the weather we had...hope you guys had a great relaxing time!!!!!

so got alyssa into the opthamologist yesterday....the NP called me at like 8am......got her there at 9:30 and we didn't get out until 12:30.....little miss lyssa was freakin out everytime the tried to check her eye :(.....2 fellows and the attending tried .....the one fellow pissed me off....she was like 'what should we do mom' ...i was like 'i don't know...you do this all the time what do you think we should do' like wtf did she expect....she is 4 and her eye is practically swollen shut ...of course she's not going to like it......the attending was much more gentle and alyssa took to him better although when he tried to touch her eye or look at it with the light she freaked........so he couldn't (obviously) give me a defenite diagnoses but he told me he was really concerned.....possibly uveitis which a inflammation of the eye......steroid eyedrops 4 times a day and i need to bring her back tomorrow morning to see if it helps...if she doesn't let them examine it thoroghly then they might need to sedate her Sad

Aww, wow, Peg. So sorry about Lyssa's eye. Sad I HATE pissed off nurses/doctors/etc... ESPECIALLY at the pedi office. Ugh. Sad
Hope the steroids help her!!!

Yes, we had GORGEOUS weather. I'm uploading pics to FB right now.

And oh my word - Tyler and ELla are like twins. And C has PFCS too!! Ella is absolutely, hands down, the WHINIEST, NEEDIEST child 24/7...it is borderline absurd. No idea how to remedy it. She outlasts me every single time I try to do something about it.

Mel, Happy birthday to Abigail! I really don't believe that she's already 2. Where has the time gone...

Emily, I hope your night with Miles wasn't too bad. Poor guy. Sad

Candace, so glad to hear the pt is helping!

Peggy, I hope the drops help. That sounds aweful. Sad

Ella and Tyler sound just like Joey was. At 6 years old, he's a million times better, but still my biggest challenge most times. He's a hard-headed, stubborn, whiney little brat. lol Smile

you better get that remote colleen......he could always do what was done to us by my older brother....he used to pay us a dollar to be his servant and get up and change the channels for him....pre remote days ROFL

candace.....that's the thing...around other people and other kids he is fine...his teachers love him and say that he smiles all day long.....that's nice because he's a big whiner at home....and poor lyssa.....she is pefectly fine by herself...she'll sit and color or paint but the minute he comes into the picture he tortures her!!!! I must say though that they played GREAT together yesterday so maybe this is a turning point...lol...maybe some day soon i'll be able to pee without him sitting on my lap...yes...you read that right...

I think they have had a time with Ella at preschool, too. I almost pulled her out, but I think they held her a LOT, especially in the beginning. Beee

When she was smaller I thought all the screaming was her belly issues...I just really am not sure.

Glad to know I only have 3.5 more years of this though, Karrie. hehehe

Poor Gweny. Sad and poor momma too.

OT eval went fine. We go back the 6th for the formal report. She definitely saw the same things that we are seeing at home. I think Jax left her a little perplexed. LOL

I was up all.night.long with Abigail. Sad Poor girl must be just miserable. Thinking about an early morning Sam's run before M comes.

Aw sorry Mel for Abs being up all night, that sucks. How are you feeling? Hope you get your shopping trip in!

Emily hope Miles is feeling better today!

Emily c3po, awwww, man, I'm sorry G didn't like swimming at all. Is it being in the water or the lesson itself? And WHOHOOOOO on JD going for the cup and no more bottle!!!!!! I'm going to do away with the morning bottle here soon...and hope she does like JD and eventually will drink milk out of a cup! I'm just not comfy with her getting calcium thru other foods, I want her to drink MILK!!!!

Ruth good for you for getting in some exercise, not only for health, but for something nice to do for yourself!!!!!

Candace so did the beach trip do you good, did you get a chance to just kick back? Well maybe not with doing away with a paci and a bottle lol! And so glad the PT is helping the arm, hope you get in another appt!

Peg, I'm so sorry about Alyssa's eye! That poor girl! Yeah, she's 4, someone coming at an eye that hurts ain't gonna go easy! I'm sorry they were butts there about it. How's her eye this morning with the abx drops?

Colleen good work on the closet clean and the remote lol! Most of all the remote lol! And I'm so glad to hear that Max is doing much better, is his stomach tolerating the abx any better?

Kelly hope you feel better!!!

Karrie are you feeling all better now?

Hmmm, sorry if I forgot anyone, didn't mean to!

Re the culturelle and Colby's sleep...yeah that wore off probably after a month or so....he's been on them for over a year now, I'm going to keep him and Daphne on it...they've been less than half sick than they were last year, don't know if it's the probiotics or just chance, but I'm not chancing it and stopping the culturelle lol! I did a lot more reading about kids and sleep disturbances, apparently it's not too uncommon...but usually with kids with autism of some sort. There a pediatric sleep center in Boston! Anyway, starting with the pedi, there's several sleep centers around here, I'm wondering if a sleep study would be the first step...but something HAS to change, that's all I know!

Julie, Colby sounds so smart it is like his wheels keep turning too much at night for him to sleep!

Emily, that stinks about Gweny and the swim lessons. Little stinker. She's not afraid of the water is she? Just being difficult? :bigarmhug:

Mel, I was wondering why Abs was up too? Poor baby.

MY girls were up between 3-5am and I hate to say that I was so angry with them. Ugh. Ella peed through her pullup onto the sheets and I had to do a full sheet change in the middle of the night.

The only good thing was since I was awake a 5am I got to call my sister as she got to the hospital. She's having her baby today. So exciting! I'm just sad I can't be at the hospital because I don't have childcare. Hopefully I can get over there by lunch time today.

And another boob story:
I'm sitting her typing this and Ella walks in here without her shirt on pointing to her boobies and saying, "these are my boobies. where are your boobies, mommy?" I said, "I don't know, where are they?" She said, "they're all gone, mommy. You have boo-boos. Not boobies."

Ahhhh, child like innocence.

Hi Colleen, Emily, Ruth, Karrie, Peg and everybody else.

Cute, Candace! I was thinking last night, how isi Ella's eating these days? Is she eating normally or is there still stuff she has to avoid? Hope you make it to the hospital!

Jules - is he cranky during the day? Or has he slept so little for so long that he just deals? Still doing okay with all day school on those days?

Mel - you say some sensory processing problems are common with apraxia, right? Is that what the eval saw (do you think) or something even stranger?

Emily - sorry about the swim lessons. They do the at Camp at school this summer (the pool is a max 3 ft). I told miles that if he refuses them at school then he'd have to do them somewhere else - which he absolutely hated.

Cleaning like Colleen is my goal for the weekend. Miles and g are going to NJ to visit his parents so it's just me so I hope to get a lot done.

Hi everyone I missed!

We've got Miles's ENT appointment today. Oh, and he was totally better yesterday. Was up a few times in the night puking but totally fine by morning. This is the 3rd or 4th time he's had this since January! All because I had to say that Miles had never had a tummy bug before. I obviously jinxed myself.

Colleen, alright....you are really making me jealous of your mass purging. I hate to do that kinda thing because its so time consuming, but I feel so much better after it is done. Plust donating makes me feel good Smile You are kicking butt this week, girl!! Did you find a lake to go to?

Julie, I hope you are able to figure out what is up with Colby, and the sleep study sounds like a good first step! Do you think he would actually sleep during the sleep study though? Or do they want him to wake up a lot so they can determine what is making him wake up? Sorry, I know nothing about sleep studies. And with Gweny and the lesson....I don't know what her deal is. I think it had a lot to do with the first 5 mins of the first lesson. The shallow end of the pool is 3 1/2 feet so she cannot touch, so the kids sit on the steps and the teacher teaches them from there. Well, the dumba$$ guy that was her swim teacher did not tell her that if she stepped off the step that she would not be able to touch and he told all the kids to get off the steps and go hang on the wall and when she stepped off the step she went under when she wasn't expecting to and the guy had to race over there and get her. I think it traumatized her because she has never been afraid of the water and last year she swam all over the pool with her puddle jumper by herself with no problems.

Mel, so sorry Abs is feeling so bad Sad I hope she feels better soon.

Peg, how is Alyssa's eye today? I can only imagine how hard that must've been to be able to even get close to her eye. I know as an adult I hate when people get close to my eye, so I can only imagine what a child would think of that, especially if it hurt really bad! I hope the drops are working.

Ruth, Bradley mentioned that he wanted to go to the magic house while we are staying with my parents this summer. Is that anywhere near you?

Candace, I love the innocent little minds of children. Sometimes I wish I could transport myself back to that world and not have to worry about all the bad things that happen in adult life. Do you think that you will ever tell them about your cancer? I know that is still a long way off before they will be able to understand anything like that though. I am glad that the PT is working for your arm!

Emily, do you think it might be something else that is making his stomach upset? Like a certain food or anything. Poor lil guy has had more than his share of tummy troubles this year it seems Sad

Speaking of boobies, lol, Gwendolyn is obsessed with talking about boobies too. She told me last week one night as we were getting out of the shower "Mommom, you have big boobies and I have little boobies, Bradley and Daddad don't have boobies because they are boys, and JD has moobs. ROFL I jokingly said that JD had moobs one time and of course that is the thing she chooses to remember about him. Poor JD.

Emily, any link to something he's eating? Maybe something he has just randomly?

We still avoid rice/rice flour with Ella. She had a big reaction from a SMALL ingestion of a rice ingredient around the time I got sick. They had initially suggested we wait until age 3 to trial it again anyway, so that's a few more months. They want us to come to the hospital and do it... I will only do that if they don't make me give her an IV, I think. And honestly, we have so ingrained in her NOT to eat rice/rice products, that we'll have to get creative with how we feed her. I think it will be a challenge because it is SUCH a delayed reaction. Last time it was 12 hours delayed. I hesitate to tell them that, because then they would want to admit her.

So basically I am just undecided on if we will just retrial at home when WE think she is ready, or if we will consult with the allergy team again. Selfishly, I want to do it at home. Realistically, I think the doctors could learn a lot from observing her and I think that would be useful to them. When MIL saw her reaction last summer she told me she "believed" me about Ella having reactions, but didn't understand the reality of it until she witnessed it. It is very strange.

More than you wanted to know, I'm sure. Smile

Just sitting here waiting on a phone call from the hospital!!

To the first bolded. Booo! Sad I hope she will be fine this summer when yall are just playing around!!!!

To the second, glad to hear that this must be a normal phase...I was wondering why Cadence (and likewise Ella) had a sudden fascination with their boobies...and C says the SAME thing, "I have little boobies. Boys don't have boobies...." etc...!

The girls talk about me being sick still and I am sure it is something I will always be open with them about because 1. they might have the gene mutation Sad and 2. I don't think I will have nipple reconstruction so they will always see my breasts are different! Smile

But I was telling C last night that my sister was having her baby today at the hospital and she said, "And then she will be sick." I told her no, she wouldn't be sick and Cadence said, "well you were sick when you went to the hospital, mommy."....so I need to get them less freaked out about the hospital, I think!!!!

Aw, Colleen a few huge bags of clothes I am getting rid of are maternity...and been getting rid of all the baby stuff too, swings, carriers, etc...it's really HARD! Sad I'm with ya girl, it sucks!

Candace I just think Ella's food reactions are really interesting, and it probably would be good to do it in an office...mainly for the reason you said, the reaction is not immediate at all, and the results are really strange. Awww, too sweet about the boo boos! GOOD LUCK TO YOUR SIS TODAY!!! I can't remember, she's having a girl right? Oh wait, I think with the name Caroline!

Emily LOL but not really at JD and moobs!!! That's a riot, that poor kid! It'll wear off lol! OH man, totally can see why Gweny doesn't like swimming now, that poor girl!!! Well hopefully some more time in the pool where she doesn't go under like that will help her forget that bad experience!

Emily good luck at Miles' appt today! Man, I just wonder what's going on with the puking, but glad to hear he's better now!

Oh and Colleen I think we should come to Boston too! I mean sleep centers are fine, but unless they specifically deal with pediatrics, it's entirely different treating a child with a sleep disorder! So we can't NOT come lol!

Oh yeah, the boobs too....last nite Colby told me that Annabelle (girl in his class) is growing boobies. He felt them yesterday and they grew. Um, you cannot touch anyone in their private places just like no one can touch you. Oh I didn't really touch her, she just told me they are growing now. She's 4 too. Good LORD!!!

Julie, ROFL you have quite the early learner there. Such a typical boy, always wanting to cop of feel Wink

Colleen, I'm sorry you are sad Sad It is hard getting rid of the baby stuff, I know that feeling. JD's bottles are still up in the closet and I cannot bring myself to throw them away.

Candace, Congrats, Auntie!!!!!!

Yeah, that's the line I said, Palm Beach, the thing is, both Gymbofriends or Gymbohaven show green shorts with flamingos on them. :/ That's what was throwing me off

Hi all, remember me? I've been in bed with pneumonia all week. Off to read back. Oh, good news from my neuro though...no more IVIG treatments. The cellcept (immunosuppressant) seems to be working well enough all on its own. So happy. 7.5 years of being in the hospital for treatment ever 6 weeks. And I'm off the steroids too, so maybe I can finally loose some weight.

Abby appears to have fifth's. While most of the time, the rash doesn't appear until after the flu like symptoms are gone, our's has shown about 3 days in. Last summer, M was the only one that followed the traditional pattern. Jax's rash showed up while he was still sick as well. It's the classic fifth's slapped cheek and lacy rash on the limbs and trunk which is indicative of the body not producing red blood cells. The thing is, if it's NOT fifth's, then we are in trouble because every other disease that the body doesn't make red blood cells is pretty serious LOL

So, went to Sam's and was back home by 8:30. Abby fell asleep in the car and has been sleeping every since. Sad I'm just going to let her sleep as long as she wants.

The OT and Sensory Processing and Jax. Because of the apraxia, we have a lot of things on our radar that we are always watching for and yes, SPD is one of them, along with Central Auditory Processing Disorder, ADD, ADHD. Thankfully, we have been able to elminate Asperger's and Autism as possibilities, his social skills are too much advanced and he shows genuine feelings for other people for either of those to even be considered. But, SPD is a big contender right now, and I have mixed feelings about it.

Emily, Seriously? How could an instructor NOT tell (remind) a group of preschoolers they might not be able to touch the bottom? That is redonkulous

He's a hard-headed, stubborn, whiney little brat. lol Smile

This is Wyatt. He will not listen and is very set in his ways. At school he was very well behaved and all, but at home I cant get him to listen.

I must say though that they played GREAT together yesterday so maybe this is a turning point...lol...maybe some day soon i'll be able to pee without him sitting on my lap...yes...you read that right...

a trip to the bathroom by yourself, dreamy. My kids at that age would sit on my lap at times too.

The torture of the sibling. The best passing of time to drive the mom insane.

poor Abigail. Hope she gets better soon.

Julie, Wyatt doesnt like to sleep either. If we are in a motel with all of us in the same room, forget the 20 questions game.....This kids asks like a thousand questions. AT home he gets up to check if there are elk outside, he gets up to get a drink, he gets up to go potty,........I know I have trouble falling asleep most nights because I cant get my brain to turn off. I hope you can figure it out.

Kelly, feel better soon!!!!

EmilyC3..Sorry for the bad swim lessons. Stinks that Gwendolyn had a rough time. I hope it gets better for her soon.

Well, cleaning purge here. GrandmaIL, GrandpaIL, a cousinIL, and maybe MIL maybe coming June 4th and my house is not fit for company at all....no way no how. So a cleaning I will go. Well when I dont have to ref the kids fights. Today is Zacks last day.

jack loves his speech sessions....she recommended music classes.....but they start while jack is napping, so i told her i would reevaluate in sept. when all the kids are back in school, i just don't want to commit to anything during the summer.....he's not even 2. i do think he would love the music class(free through EI) because lucy loved kindermusik.......
my girlfriend invited me to come down to her cottage for the weekend......so i'm gonna head down on saturday and spend the night without any kids!!!!! i'm so excited......it's right on the beach on capecod........she actually cleans these cottages, and she gets them alot during the summer, if they aren't rented, she gets to stay at them.......this one is our fav......right on the beach.....should be fun......only 5 of us are gonna be there.
tomorrow night is our lakeside carnival that we go to every year.....so we have lots of fun stuff planned....for the long weekend.......

Colleen, I hope you have a blast. What a stupid statement, who wouldn't have a blast. LOL

It's all I could do to leave the house by 7:45 to get Jax to school everyday. But, it was super easy this morning. Abs kept me up all night, and by 5:00 I was fed up with being woke up every 15min, so I got up and had my first cup of coffee.

TweedleDee and BIL were supposed to be coming this weekend. I'm pretty stinking proud of my hubby. He's stressed at work right now and was looking forward to a long weekend home with his family. He called and told them Abigail and I were very sick and they should not come.

Nevermind, I'm confusing Palm Beach and Palm Springs. Gymbo is running out of new and creative themes, so they just keep repeating old lines and slightly changing the names.

Nice Mel!
Colleen sounds fab! I want clean cottages by the ocean and stay for free! geesh that is cool!

so i just went to a restaurant supply store... I want to make this
http://thepioneerwoman.com/cooking/2011/06/perfect-iced-coffee/
the stupid container everywhere is like 25 bucks! so after some research I found this place .. SCORE for a mere 9 dollars!
OMG you gals this place was a MECCA for me! EVERYTHING there is super cheap and EXACTLY THE SAME as big name stores! it took all will power to not buy a car load of stuff!
They had espresso stained kid seats (like a restaurant) for 15 bucks! OMG I wanted one BAD!!!
so I got the containers I wanted and I bought 2 kid size plastic trays you know the ones you get at the food court at the mall... for summer in the backyard and for camping (beach camping fathers day weekend) they were 20 cents!
OMG anyways I had to leave.. or else I would spent a serious amount of money!

Weekend-
Friday night my friend who I haven't seen in 4 years is in town.. meeting at a wine bar for a few drinks Smile
Saturday- evening we are going to a BBQ at our friends (he is the kids Godfather) the rest of the day is open!
Sunday- no plan yet.. beach likely.. maybe the coast .. who knows!
Monday- no plans either... likely BBQ qith some friends or something

I guess I really don't have much of a plan!

GREAT idea about the homeless shelter!! I just bring all our stuff to the local goodwill type place, but they just turned around and sell it, which (even though it might help some people) just profits them.

Candace, so cute about the boo-boos, not boobies. Biggrin I'd been meaning to ask about how Ella was doing with eating,so I'm glad for the little update. Smile Congrats to your sister, too!!!!!

Ruth, Bradley mentioned that he wanted to go to the magic house while we are staying with my parents this summer. Is that anywhere near you?

Yes! It's maybe 30 min from my house - we could totally meet up there! Although, I'll be spending all my time running after my little monsters, but at least we can see each other from a distance! lol

Oh, and poor Gwenny. Sad The first summer I took swim lessons, I spent the ENTIRE week sitting in the shallow end on the steps because I couldn't work up the courage to open my eyes under water and tell them how many fingers they were holding. We practiced in the bathtub every night, but the water in the tub is clear and in the pool it's blue. Wink Must have driven my mom CRAZY. I'm glad I remember these things about my childhood because it gives me a little bit more compassion when Noelle is afraid of something unreasonable....

Yes, Sams is similar in concept to Costco, but many people think Costco is better. Mel prob has a business membership, which gets her into Sams earlier - that's how ours works, anyway. Those early shopping hours are nice (like I would ever get all of us out of hte house that early! lol).

DH's last day of school is tomorrow.... I'll probably be even more scarce than usual....
