I'm sad that my baby will be 4, in just 5 weeks. Sad
I'm not doing a party with friends because he's still very selective at his preschool. He only likes one or 2 kids. Wink Also, I don't feel the need to spend all that mula on a party with kids he could care less about. We are planning on going to Disneyland to celebrate as well.
We will do a family party (at my house), with possibly a Batman theme.

I was thinking about a party at Hopscotch. And I did think I would invite his school friends, but only because there are only 10 kids total in his class.

I thought I was going to do a small party with school friends (and a few others) somewhere other than my house, but I just can't get myself to pay those prices. $250 minimum?!?! That's just too much for my cheap butt.

C wants a Toy Story party this year too. Pinterest has some great Toy Story ideas. I've been checking that out. I said we were going to do a smaller party this year too but when I figure up family and his friends and their parents (no school friends just neighbors and kids he gets together with regularly) we still have about 40 people! Jeesh. So much for making it small.

that's part of the problem with doing it out too...then i'd probablly still need to have ice cream and cake at home for family

WOW, that is an insane minimum. Hopscotch is $129 for 10 kids, the invites and a 2 hour private party. $30 more if you want them to provide a 10 balloon bouquet and the cups, plates etc. Plus, each additional kid beyond 10 is only $5. Considering I spent $60 on balloons and cups plates napkins last year, I'm thinking the $30 extra package is a no-brainer. I'll send out 15 invites and only have to pay for the extra kids over 10 if they show. I'll probably just do a $15 cake from Sam's and a couple of those huge Subway party-sized Subs and then caprisun pouches. I'm thinking I can pull the whole thing off for $200

I always seem to go overboard on these parties, so I've already started the planning. Nicholas wants a "monster" birthday, so we're going with that theme and I've pinned some really cute stuff on Pinterest too. I already have the shelter at the park at the splash park booked so the location is all set, now I am starting to buy supplies for a few games and a craft. Thankfully, with the splash park there I don't have to go all out with the activities to keep the kids busy like I did last year. Oh, and numbers wise, we are usually around 18-20 kids plus their parents, so around 50 people. This year N wants his school friends to come too, so that's about another 15 if everyone comes, which I'm sure they won't. So it's going to be insane. Glad we're at the park...

The party we went to yesterday was $249 for up to 24 kids, $8 each additional kid (there were 27 kids there, yikes, food, cake, etc was extra!). They also had parties for as little as 8, which I think was $100 something. I feel like a horrible Mom when I read the parties that are being planned for this year and years past, but will probably still keep it family this year as well. I would like to invite a few friends from his class, but feel really bad inviting some and not all, even though I know it's okay. I will continue to hem and haw over doing something with maybe 4 kids from his class at the house, I saw a good guideline that said the age should equal the number of kids in attendance, plus that's all I'd be interested in at my house lol!

Cadence wants a "princess party with flowers."

My family is so big. Too many people. But I'm sure we'll have her a big party, as usual. No ideas on anything at all yet, though.

Probably will not invite preschool kids.

I've been loving all the bday party ideas on pinterest. But I'm really thinking about keeping it small again for at least another year. I'm actually thinking of going back to "the good ol' days" and just doing our immediate family with cake and a special dinner. Not even inviting the grandparents. If they want to stop by and give her a gift, that would be fine. It just gets out of control and where do you draw the line? Aunts and uncles? Great grandparents? Neighbors who are practically family? uggh.. I'll be coming home from DC on Nate's bday and Delaney's is one week later. I'll have a sweet 16 to plan in May. Yes, I think I've talked myself into a lame family party. Smile maybe with an April Fool's theme.

We're going to the Movers concert with Aidan, George and Leo that weekend. So, we'll have just cake and punch at home for family and friends if they would like. No theme, nothing big. Our big expense was the concert tix.

I'm trying to talk Miles into a Disney World themed party. So I could get a bunch of different themed stuff (Mickey invites, Nemo plates, Princess napkins, toy story something etc). Since his birthday is 2 weeks after our trip I could stay in Disney planning mode, lol.

But he says he wants transformers. Blah.

It's all girls in his class (just one other boy) so I would like to invite More than just his class but if I do I open a can of worms of of having my invites snowball (to mix metaphors).

Mel - that is awesome! Even the little farm by me charges $350. The cheapest I found is My gym which is around $250 but then you have to play for everything additional (pizza, cake, etc).

We are having a small, family party again this year. With DSDs, grandparents and aunts/uncles we are around 20 people. She asked for a princess theme, so that's the ticket. Pinterest is great.

Gosh, I really need to move from here or make double what I'm making. Around here the kiddie parties start in the 300's and are closer to 500 for about 15 kids for 90 minutes. It's completely ludicrous.

Alanis has gone to about 4 parties for schoolmates, but I just can't afford to have one like that this year. So we're going to be doing a little party at home with the cousins/godparents. Will end up being about 15 adults and maybe 6 kids. We'll probably do a Yo Gabba Gabba theme since it's one of the few shows they both like. We'll have the typical Spanish food for the adults, pizza for the kids, and some music and games and cake and that's it!

Since DH will not be home then we prolly won't do much, I might take her to Chuck E Cheese or a bounce house place or something. When DH does get home we are going to celebrate JD's, Gweny's, DH's, and my birthdays late by taking a trip to Disneyland Smile

Geez, I was going to say I thought $300 was reasonable because that's the cheapest I've found around here with no add ons and we were maybe going to do that....things are up in the air right now though...haven't had time to think about her birthday...other than we bought a Lego set to bribe her to poop on the toilet but she just said "I want that for my birthday, I don't want Legos now, I want a diaper."

or those thinking of the Toy Story party............. we did that ofr Dino's 4th B-day and OMG it was soo much fun!!!

I made these jumbo alien cupcakes..... My one and only thing I have ever done in my 8 year subscription to Family Fun magazine, LOL. They were really easy too.

We also ordered big cut outs of Buzz & Woody, and put a hole in Woody and used him as a bean bag toss. With Buzz I got sticky moustashes and did a "Pin the stach on Buzz" like from the outtakes of 1 or 2, really cute.

Ummm, what else, OH- I ordered a TON of Mr Potato heads off ebay and tons of accessories. All the kids got to make a Mr. Potato head then that was also their take home gift in lieu of a treat bag (since most treat bags are just junk I throw away anyways). It was awesome!!!

Oh, and when the kids 1st came in, Gavin was in charge of giving them all temp toy story tattoos, which they loved.

it was an amazing party!!!

So we were invited to 4 birthday parties with in a 2 week period............ and they are all at "my gym" "rollie pollies' gym places!!! YIKES!!

She just wants a party at the house, but since we live so far away from her school, none of those friends would be able to come, and this is the 1st year for a "school party" and b/c it seems to be b-day month in her class, I know she will be upset she didn't get to have a party too, Kwim. nORMALLY WE ARE AT THE TRACK, SO SHE REALLY HASN'T HAD A big B-DAY BLOWOUT YET BUT ALL THE OTHER KIDS HAVE AND i FEEL REALLY BAD ABOUT IT.

So I want to ask my girlfriend who has a horse farm, if we can use her place and have her DD give the kids pony rides!! A cowgirl horse party!! I know she loves going over there and riding Sassy, so I know she would love it. I need to ask my girlfriend though, but I know she wouldn't care.
