canvas photos

I keep seeing these deals on living social and eversave for canvas photos!!!!

does anyone have one...how did it come out......

i tried looking into it for xmas but it got a little overwhelming and i didn't have enough time to research....but the deals look enticing but then when i went on to upload and stuff it seemes like you were only paying for the print and then it was extra for the frame thing that it sat on......and they didn't show you what it would look like....you had to trust their judgement i guess....i was hoping to be able to crop and move to make sure it was centered like i liked it....but i just nixed it figuring i would look into it later

i want to get a canvas of my siggy and give it to steve

just curious if anyone has ever done this before

thank you in advance Smile

Peg, I think some of the girls on the photag board have printed on canvas before.

It is my understanding that when you upload the picture it will show you the exact selection that will be on the front of the canvas and what will be "wrapped" around the edges...

But I have never printed on canvas...

KUP on what you decide...it is a great family pic!

groupon had some deals around christmas on canvas and on metal prints.

I saw some at the walmart photo and they edges do wrap around on the side and they looked very cool...

I it would look great.

I have not ordered one myself. My neighbor has a canvas of their family photo and it looks nice. I looked at ordering a canvas of a pic of C with our last photo session but then I didn't because it wasn't fitting the way I wanted. It did show what would wrap and what would be on the front. It just wasn't working out. If it doesn't show you that I'd be nervous to order too.

A canvas is mounted on unfinished raw wood. The canvas is stretched around the wood and is typically not framed. Think of the pre-mounted canvas that we all buy at Hobby Lobby for the kids to do finger paint projects on. You want to select a photo that has a lot of edge around the 'subject' like the one in Candace's siggy, and stay away from photos like the one in my siggy.

eta: Sorry, I didn't finish reading your whole post before I replied. The pic in your siggy would be great, especially after you upload it cropped and edited.

I know they don't have a frame..I just used the wrong wording and didn't know what to call it........it seemed like they
were charging you extra for the wood thingy it gets wrapped around

makes it not seem as good a deal with the extra charges if that makes sense

They are charging you to mount it. Or, you can get it unmounted and then go to Hobbly Lobby and buy a mount for it and try and stretch the canvas straight yourself. You do want them to mount it.

If it seems like not so great a deal. Check out zazzle.com you can upload any photo and have it made into practically anything. I'm pretty sure they do canvas printing and mounting. They run some great specials and do great work.

I don't think the canvas pic people just send the raw canvas not stretched on wood already??? Maybe not, I've dealt with 2 companies I can't even remember now, and a raw canvas wasn't even an option, althought that is a good idea if you do want to do it yourself. I got the one canvas framed at Michaels, maybe it was another $30 on top of the cost of the canvas. As far as the canvas itself, loved it!

Just to compare prices of canvas I always order prints from mpix. Their fast and professional quality. Just another place to check out.
