OT - Anybody have tried and true monkey bread recipe?

The Monkey Break I usually make calls for uncooked Rhodes rolls and Butterscotch cook and serve pudding, neither of which I can find at my grocery store and I don't really want to run around town looking, so....

Does anyone have a monkey bread recipe they like?

I looked online and there were some easy ones (using grands biscuits) but most of them didn't seem like they would have the same flavor as the butterscotch one I'm used to.

I decided I was going to do Monkey bread for Xmas breakfast and it sounds really good, but now I can't find what I need!!

I use the one with cut up grands rolled in cinnamon and sugar. I can dig out my mom's recipe if you want me to.

I use the frozen dinner rolls as well. You can also use the frozen bread dough that comes in loaves, you just need to pull off pieces of dough and roll them into balls. I haven't used butterscotch pudding in mine. that sounds like it would be yummy. I do however, melt butter and brown sugar and cinnamon and pour it all over the mound of balls before I bake it, makes a really nice gooey chewy caramel. Like Emily, I mix brown sugar and cinnamon in a bowl, coat each dough ball with butter then roll in the sugar mixture.

That's similar to the ones I've found online. Guess I'll try that. (Thanks for the offer to dig out the recipe, Emily, but I think you're busy enough.) Wink

Mel - do you let yours sit out over night then? Is the dough still frozen and un-risen?

Thanks!

I thaw the dough before assembly and then let it rise. I dump the caramel glaze on it before baking.
