OT question for my American friends...

Okay , so our Canadian dollar is getting stronger so we've been driving across the border to get gas...
I've noticed some gas stations are much cheaper then others... is this because of gas quality?
One gas station can be 4.09 and then right beside it is 3.79... WTH? Is the cheaper gas too good to be true? Will my car blow up?

LOL The gas is fine. Gas prices are just weird and complicated to understand. But, the short end of it is, establishments make very little profit on the sale of gasoline. Typically, the big convenience store chains that sell lots of goodies, fast food, coffee, drinks etc, will be a few cents cheaper to lure you in. They are hoping that you will come in and spend lots of money on those little goodies.

Now, if the example you give wasn't hypothectical and there was really a .30 cent jump, I'd say the cheaper place hasn't yet gotten the call from HQ to raise the price.

LOL Go for the cheaper gas! Around here some stations just change their price before other stations. Usually by the end of the day they're all the same price.

Go with the cheaper gas, your car won't blow up! I just paid $4.39/gallon yesterday. I'm so cheap that I stop it at $40.

Thanks!
Our gas prices differ between stations as well, but not so much!

Our price is $1.38 a litre and across the border it works out to about $1.05...
That's a big savings.
Sigh.... I totally remember filling up my old Nissan Micra for $10.

Yep, I remember when gas was in the .87-.89 cents and people were appalled when it jumped into the .90 cent range. But, minimum wage was also only $3.35 an hour.

I remember when it was .88/gal. That was before I was driving though. Smile

I just filled up on Tuesday, it was 4.12/gal. And it had only been 3.92 earlier that morning.
